Fox’s The Following rallied for its first season finale, with ratings rising 8 percent among adults 18-49 to deliver the show’s best performance in seven weeks.
All told, The Following is averaging 17.1 million viewers this season when you count all forms of viewership — on-air, DVR, encores, VOD and streaming. Here’s a breakdown chart of how it all boils down (right). The blue part — Live + Same Day — is what typically gets reported the morning after an episode airs. Then there’s all this other viewership, which is frequently not counted in the media (but also doesn’t contribute as much to Fox’s bottom line for the show since advertisers primarily want viewers who are watching their ads live). Still, this is a nice reminder of all the ways viewership can stack up.
