Supernatural - Season 8 - Taylor Cole to Return?

Apr 14, 2013

Taylor Cole played Sam's love interest "Sarah Blake" in the season 1 episode "Provenance." What do you think?

  1. Definitely one of my favorite guests on the show, plus Taylor Cole is amazingly gorgeous and my favorite romantic interest for Sam. I hope she's returning.

  2. It'll be awesome! She was perfect for Sam :)

    That would be very interesting.
After all these years I think Sam in particular will be very surprised. I hope she's still human and brings a good story.
It will be very interesting whether she's still a love interest, hunter or is a case. I am pretty sure she will be back, for how long is a mystery. Welcome back (if its true!)

  4. Yeah! Better than Amelia for sure.

  5. I loved Sarah Blake and I would be happy to see her again. The problem is what would her return mean?

    X
I hope it doesn't just open up an Amelia-type of Can of Worms, in that as the viewers didn't like the Samelia chemistry, let's persevere with the 'normal' story-line but with a girl who DID have chemistry with Sam and whom was liked by Dean too. We'll just have to wait and see.

However I am looking forward to her meeting Sam again. :)

  6. WTF! Could it be? Please please please.....

  7. Pleaaaaaaase COME BACK AND STAY WITH SAM!!! <3 :) I'm saying this since 1x19! :D I've missed her soooo much! Love them together! Perfect for Sam! Lovely couple! <3

    ReplyDelete
  8. That would be great! She was really good with Sam! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Can't wait!!!! She's my Sam's endgame! (AHHH I'm soo excited for this!)

    ReplyDelete
  10. I don't even watch the show anymore and I support this- she was Sam's best love interest by a mile.

    ReplyDelete
  11. My Sam/Sarah hardcore shipper 5eva is FINE with this. I hope she brings something interesting to the mythology: I mean, she deal with antiques, right, there's a fuckton of things she could have come across.

  12. holy crap she is coming back. WOW carver got smart on this one, Wow you guy like this girl I was thinking you hated all sam's girls. she was my fav to I liked that she could allway get in there with the boys and kick ass maybe she turned into a hunter that be awesome and findlly sam have someone to turn too.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I am so excited about this, Sarah had the best chemistry with Sam and she is beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Whoa, I thought she was just saying she wanted to come back and then I scrolled down and a picture!

I love Sarah. This is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I never thought I'd say this, but if they're bound and determined to put Sam in a romance no matter what, then I hope they get someone for Dean too! He shouldn't be left out of the romance. Jamie from Monster Movie was cool!

  16. NO.JUST.NO.

  17. It really does seem that they are determined to make Sam settle down with someone, so maybe they're going to try it with Sarah because Amelia was just too boring.
    X

It's probably being done to give Dean a free hand so he can double up with someone else IMO.
If that happens on a permanent basis, I won't be happy.

    X

Then again perhaps she just runs into Sam for one episode.
    X

What's curious is that it says Season eight, so if it's going to happen it will be in one of the next four episodes.

  18. I do wonder why these writers are obsessed w/romance. Supernatural went fine for 5 seasons w/o any long-term romance. It isn't really necessary for the show. Don't get me wrong. Sarah and Sam had much more chemistry than Sam/Amelia, and I like Sarah better for Sam. That said, I've never really been interested in seeing either brother w/a permanent girlfriend. To me, long term romance doesn't work very well on this show.
As you said, she may only be on for one episode, and that's probably best b/c the writers would like ruin her and the pairing if she appeared for more than one episode. I think of Lisa who worked in her single S3 episode, but then was just ruined in S6. I don't want to see that happen again.

    ReplyDelete
  19. After building up Amelia as the great love of Sam's life even it seems handwaving away Jessica . As much has I love Sarah I wouldnt be too keen to have them getting Sam involved with someone else . It would make the Amelia sl look silly and empty that it already does.

    ReplyDelete
  20. You're absolutely correct! I hate Amelia, but it would make ZERO sense for Sam to be all into Sarah when he is supposedly still "hung up" on Amelia.

    ReplyDelete
  21. So true.

The show was never about romance; it was about the two brothers hunting together in the Impala, saving lives.

Although as I said, I loved Sarah in Provenance, i don't want permanent romance on the Show either. There are lots of other shows that cater to romance; they could have left Supernatural alone.

Then after having given us the whole 'Amelia you saved me' stuff, Sam wouldn't look too good if he has to swear undying love to yet another girl! Poor Sammy!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah . . . after the experiments of Dean/Lisa/Ben and Sam/Amelia, I definitely don't want to see romance on this show! I've often speculated that long term romance doesn't work b/c they continue to pair up the boys w/women who don't know about the supernatural or who don't want the boys to do what comes natural to them.

Take Lisa for instance - I was ticked w/her during the S6 premiere when they had Dean lying about investigating a hunt. Why was he lying? Couldn't he have told her he was looking into something? She knew about the supernatural so it wouldn't have come as a shock. They just set it up like Dean couldn't be himself around her and had to hide what he was doing. And then she later questioned him about whether he was hunting. She knew he was a hunter when she took him into her home so what's the problem? I thought Dean would have a good relationship w/her b/c she was aware of the supernatural, but that didn't appear to the base.

But there were also a lot of other problems w/that pairing. As a woman, I could never really buy into the idea that Lisa would invite a man she hadn't spoken to in years into her home w/her young son. Yes, Jensen Ackles is very attractive but the setup for their relationship was so crazy, IMO. It also didn't help that Dean's love (if that's what it was) for Lisa came out of nowhere. I was a little more than shocked when he showed up on her doorstep in S5 as we had no indication that Dean had thought of her again.

Sam and Amelia are horrible b/c they have ZERO chemistry. In fact, they have anti-chemistry. Haha! Their entire relationship is a mess, and neither actor sold it, which may be the point at the end. . . who knows?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Apart from that...We know she cannot be in Pac Man Fever so HOW IN THE WORLD could they fit her in the 3 most important episodes of the season??MAKES ZERO SENSE.I mean they will have their hands full and there's no time for love and romance. Also she was in one freakin episode for crying out loud.Sam was not in love with her.Maybe she fell for him but they just had a good time.No REAL love there.

    ReplyDelete
  24. so they can actually afford Taylor Cole? then why the hell brought amelia into the show?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I've always considered Sarah as the best woman for Sam, even above Jessica. If Taylor Cole returns to SPN (and I hope she does) I'd love to see how Sarah and Sam are together. I would hope the writers don't bring her back, only to kill Sarah off. That would royally pi$$ me off!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm not into romance just for the sake of romance, but if this helps round Sam out and give him more depth, I'm open to seeing where this goes.

Apparently Carver sees women as the counterpoint to Dean's intense "brother" relationships.

My one requirement is that there's no articial drama inserted into it, like a love triangle, or forbidden love.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I believe the comments about Amelia being the love of Sam's life were off camera. What we saw on the screen is that Sam fell into a relationship, something he hasn't had in a long time, and that it got him thinking that there may be life after hunting for him.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I want to know why there can not be no love on this show god even buffy had a love story or 2 on the show why can not this show? can anyone tell me please?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Are we seeing him hung up on Amelia? I don't think she's been mentioned since the last episode they were together. (Torn and Frayed maybe?)

    ReplyDelete
  30. and no one has really tell me what was so wrong with amelia? well she hated him at 1st ok then not a damn thing really writers. they way I see it is they reason they hate her is it took away from sam looking for dean and they blame her for it well thats what I think anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  31. If they bring her back and she's only interested in talking to Dean, I might just kill someone (kidding, of course).

    ReplyDelete
  32. me too an then I am truly done with the show.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oooh. Sarah is my favorite of Sam's love interests after Jessica. It would be great it they brought her back. The Sam/Amelia story was an unfortunate misfire, but I appreciate what they were trying to do there even if it wasn't executed well.

    ReplyDelete
  34. This does not sound like Sarah Blake will be back. It sounds like the actress is saying that if you want Sarah back, then ask for her return.

    ReplyDelete
  35. She was a great PiP, that's for sure. I have been wanting her back for 7 years now.

    ReplyDelete
  36. It is much more likely the way things have been going this season, that the actress will be back playing a different character.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Maybe, but that looks like a recent picture. Has she been at a con recently?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think it is far more likely that the actress will return but not as Sarah Blake, given the way they have been recycling actors the entire season.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Because it has never, not even once, worked in this show. Hunters don't seem to get romances.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh I doubt it she is known as Sarah Blake. And S E Hinton the author was on set recently and spoke of a very surprising character return . It would tie in IMO but who knows/

    ReplyDelete
  41. Amelia spent almost every single minute of screen time snapping at Sam and/or whining. The writers did not make her sympathetic which in turn made it hard to believe Sam would be as interested in her as he kept saying. Yes, there is the fact that he was with Amelia instead of looking for Dean but it is also the fact that she was unpleasant for most of what we saw of her. The writers did a big disservice in writing her because many fans still don't know what Sam saw in her to begin with. She was kind of a witch for the majority of the time.

    ReplyDelete
  42. If she was as hateful to all her customers as she was to Sam I don't know how she stayed in business. She was awful.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think they going for Amelia reminding Sam of Dean.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I agree. Sarah is remembered too much by the fandom. I wouldn't rule out Sarah as a dream, or maybe a meat suit for a demon though. Maybe whatever Sam is growing in his arm will need a meat suit that Sam won't want to kill.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Samuel and Ellen's husband were married.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I CANNOT WAIT! Shes been one of my all time favorite guest stars they ever had on the show and i'm gonna be so happy if she is really coming back

    ReplyDelete
  47. She has a ring on her finger. Sarah must be engaged or married...

    ReplyDelete
  48. OMG, I CAN'T EVEN TURN OFF THE CAPS LOCK! PLEEEASE, LET SARAH BE BACK FOR REAL! PLEASE! Not only she and Sam have fantastic chemistry, but she is also amazing on her own! And Taylor Cole being gorgeous definitely doesn't hurt. Dean has Cas, that know his life and understand it and helps him and they know each other for real, like partners should. Sam should have someone who knows the life they lead too. Destiel + Sam/Sarah is my dream endgame, I would be so ridiculously happy I wouldn't even be able to express my happiness.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Imo, Dean already has one. He already has someone who loves him, who he loves back, who understands his life, who helps him, who is family, who he trusts, who he would die for, who would die for him, who helps him protect Sam, who is perfect for him. I'm talking about Cas, if there was any doubt.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I absolutely agree with you!!! Since Dean already has Cas, who understand his life and supports him 24/7, Sam needs someone too. And after Jessica, Sarah was always the only one, and the best one in my opinion. If she comes back, I'm super happy!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'M SO EXCITED, I love Sarah Blake.

    ReplyDelete
  52. well, she did use the sarah blake hashtag, so...We can't be sure

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm dying on the floor. Please, let this happen. This is my endgame too. Sarah was so perfect. Bad ass girl who now knows about hunting and still wanted to stay with Sam AND I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS OKAY? I want Sam to have someone too. Dean has Cas and always will have, Sam needs someone like this too.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I hope she doesn't come back. I don't want the show to turn into a soap! I mean we finally got rid of Benny and Amelia. I was just starting to enjoy it being just the bros. I'm so tired of everyone trying to come between them, they are the heart of the show. We don't need another main character to take their screen time.

Sarah was a long time ago and has no chemistry with Sam. She was a one time thing. The kiss Sam gave her was just a goodbye kiss, nothing else! I think if they do bring her back, she should only be Sam's friend. It's ridiculous to think of her as anything more, and after only one episode!

I've never thought of them like that, and it's stupid to do so. Sam probably wouldn't even care about her anymore anyways. Just because they are a man and woman does not mean they have to be like that!!

One more thing! If you are reading this and getting angry let me tell you something I fully support Sarah/Sam and think it would be one of the most amazing things to happen because Sarah is definitely the best suited for Sam. She's awesome, period.

I just wanted some of you who think Cas being Dean's love interest is ridiculous to see how fucking stupid you look when you say things like this. Of course you probably won't even understand a thing I just did, and will inevitably try to argue a point when there are none to be argued, so you can just stop right there.

    Peace out, bitches.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Aw I just want her to be a hunter too HAHAH!
Read so many fic with her and Sam married :P But I don't see that on the show, love her in season 1 but I hope its just a one-episode return :D

    ReplyDelete
  57. Sorry, I don't buy into Destiel so no, IMO, Dean doesn't have a romantic partner on the show. If the writers insist on putting the brothers in a romance, then I think they both should get love interests.
My preference is for no romance though - at least long term romance. It doesn't work on this show.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh, neither am I. My preference is for no romance at all. These writers don't handle long term romance well, so I want them to stop trying. Haha!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I completely agree w/you. Amelia was doomed from the moment she was introduced. She was introduced as a witch for no reason and in a very cliche way, and then we didn't really see the transition. To this day, I have no idea why Sam was w/her or why he liked her. I think the next FB was the picnic one, and then the one after that, she called Sam a "stalker." I just never took a liking to her. I was never interested in her life, her husband, or her feelings. It didn't help that most of Sam's FBs were focused on her rather than him. I'm not sure why Carver & Co. chose to focus on Amelia in the FBs, and not Sam when most people cared more about Sam than Amelia.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Well, he just mentioned normal again in that Krissy episode so I don't know. Has it been so long that he would be over her? I don't think that much time has passed since they last saw each other.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Just had a thought - maybe she's the sacrifice in "Sacrifice."

    ReplyDelete
  62. Well, if this is supposed to be real time, they broke up last summer before Dean returned and had their brief reunion about 3 months ago.Besides, if Sarah does come back, I don't think she would be introduced in a typical romance way - i.e., Sam looking her up in his little black book. I would guess other circumstances would throw them together - hopefully sipernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  63. OMG YES! Sarah was perfect for Sam!<3 I knew she would appear again, even if 7 season have passed.

    ReplyDelete
  64. If she were to come back-- I would definitely watch :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yes, I definitely think the supernatural would throw Sam and Sarah back together.
The Sam/Amelia relationship was horrible in my personal opinion, but I think we're supposed to think Sam is still into her. Who knows? I hope to never see Amelia again.

    ReplyDelete
  66. There was a lot wrong with Sam and Amelia, the biggest thing being that there was no build to it (he was suddenly living a different reality), and there was never that moment in which we saw Sam fall in love. There needs to be some some moment when things change, and the audience is thinking, "ok, I get it."

    ReplyDelete
  67. You don't buy it, but a lot of people do, and a lot of people consider them that way. In my honest opinion, there is no reason to deny this, if tptb want it to be. It's perfectly possible and fitting.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I so hope tptb don't ever go there. I love the Dean and Castiel friendship just the way it is..no "love affair" PLEASE.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Well... I do hope tptb do go there. They already love each other, I don't see how a romantic tone would be bad. Let's agree to disagree.

    ReplyDelete
  70. It's completely okay for you to not see Cas as Dean's love interest, but you not seeing it doesn't mean everyone has to agree with you. You may not buy into Destiel and it's your right, but a lot of people see it and want the show to go there. There are a lot of things I don't buy and the show did it anyway, it happens to everybody.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I love their relationship the way it is too, I wouldn't want them together if I didn't love their relationship. I simply see their relationship, as it is, as romantic in nature and their feelings for each other as romantic and I believe them getting together would be the next natural step in their relationship. You have all the right to not see it in the same way I do, but just because you see their feelings for each other as being platonic it doesn't mean everyone will see it this way too and that it's the right way to see their relationship. It's open to interpretation, what I see as romance won't be the same you see as romance, because people have different ideas on what romance is.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Same here. It'll probably be just an episode, but I would enjoy having her back on a recurring basis.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Okay, /cough. Let me tell you something, dear Guest. Bringing more characters into the show is a GOOD thing. "I mean we finally got rid of Benny and Amelia". No. Yes, the show IS about Sam and Dean, but not JUST about Sam and Dean. They can't live just with each other. Don't they deserve friends, or lovers? Do you really want them to sit there by themselves until they grow old? That is sick. Co-dependency should end.
I can agree that Sam and Amelia had no real chemistry, and their relationship was kinda forced. But if Sam was happy and wanted to be with her then why the hell not? On the other hand, Benny should have stayed. Dean needs friends like him. And I hated the idea that Dean had to sacrifice him for the sake of Sam. I really hope he doesn't have to say goodbye to Charlie too.
Now, coming to the subject, bringing Sarah back as Sam's love interest wouldn't 'turn the show into a soap opera'. JFC. Both Dean and Sam DESERVE other people in their lives. They deserve to have someone to rely on except each other! And they deserve to have people who can give them more than brotherly love. Sarah would be that for Sam. Cas would be that for Dean.
BECAUSE THEY ARE BROTHERS AND THEY LOVE EACH OTHER DOES NOT MEAN THEY CAN'T LOVE OTHER PEOPLE TOO.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Ummm . . . did I sayno one else could believe in it. You can think what you want! I never said otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Like I told Alene, I never said anyone couldn't believe in Destiel. I simply said I don't see it so if Dean were to get a love interest, they'd need to hire someone - IMO - to be that person. I think Jamie from Monster Movie would be good or maybe that girl w/the demon deal in T&E.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I love Sam and Sarah, she's my favourite for Sam but I wish she wasn't coming back so soon after Sam and Amelia. If we all remember, Sarah was Sam's first real rebound after Jessica died, and now for her to be Sam's first girl since Amelia, just makes me feel like she's just a pretty and useful rebound. I want it to be real, if they go that direction.

Even Jared said in an old interview that Sarah was Jared's favourite girl for Sam because Sam and Sarah had an instant and REAL chemistry and the fact that she knew about their lives and accepted them and was good to both brothers was something that Jared really liked about Sarah and he wanted to have Sarah back for Sam, if he could choose any woman for him.

    ReplyDelete
  77. After nearly 8 season you still can't tell? Wow. You might want to re-watch the entire show.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I have to say, based on the responses to this post, I think you faked your rage a bit *too* convincingly ;)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Me too.

As much as I loved her in 1.19 and hoped the would reappear in later seasons, now with all what happened since she first appeared she might not survive an episode if the is actually real.

I'm leaning towards her being a hallucination in relation either to the third trail or afterwards after Sam breaks down completely.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Great pic! I would have loved this if they did this instead of the smelly Amelia arc. Sarah would have been perfect. But now, it's weird after all that's happened with Amelia. And it seems they'd want to really have Sam settling down with a woman?? So odd to me, and just not SPN.
Though I love the character, and I'll be open minded because it is her and she's from season 1.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Ugh! She's too well known and too liked - she's iconic season 1! I will be pissed if they pass her off as someone else. If they do, it shows how lousy Carver's sense of the fandom and SPN really is.

    ReplyDelete
  82. If this is what it looks to be, then I'd say Sam being in love is part of the 3 year plan, and not just a whim.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Yeah, I'd think the same thing. Or be part of some hallucination of Sam's, trying to get him to do or not do something.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I think TPTB have already gone there. The only thing missing is a physical relationship. And I don't even care about or support Dean/Cas.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'm sure they're gonna go through to season 10.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Yes, it seems so, if it's really Sarah. But I can't imagine the logistics of that. I already miss the road trip feel. ... though a small part of me could accept a happy settled Sam with Sarah, and Dean alone still hunting, if done right. [oxymoron with this writing crew]
Dear God don't kill her, or "Lisa" her. She's the only happy spot in Sam's young life.
Does anyone else detect the trend of this season's writers, of rifling through past successes and mangling them beyond recognition?

    ReplyDelete
  87. "Does anyone else detect the trend of this season's writers, of rifling through past successes and mangling them beyond recognition?"

Bwah!!! This pretty much sums it up.

    ReplyDelete
  88. What kills me is they were praised at first, for honoring canon - haha - then "Taxi Driver" happened and John Hinkley'd all over canon... I won't be fooled again.

    ReplyDelete
  89. They started off with Sam NOT looking for Dean and that was always canon and it went down hill from there with bitchy girlfriend. I am typing this and thinking what an idiot, as I also think some of the best eps of the series have been in this season. Talk about mixed emotions. lol Bitten for me is the worse ep of the series.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I doubt Sam will ever have his happy ending. I'm reading this desire to put him with a girlfriend as motivation for something to come later, like it's set up for an important decision later.

    ReplyDelete
  91. They killed canon from episode one when they tried to push the idea that the brothers not looking for each other was canon. I knew then we were getting screwed by Jeremy Carver. Taxi Driver was the last straw.

    ReplyDelete
  92. What I still can't understand is the criteria behind that choice. What was the point in cooking up the unbelievable not-looking story and trying to force it down our throats?

In the end it never led to anything other than contrived brother drama.

    X

I would love to hear an explanation from the showrunner which is more in depth than, "I wanted to see what would happen inf Sam didn't look!"

But then I don't suppose Mr.Carver has one!
    X

I see he is writing the last episode.
I wonder what pearls of wisdom he will share with us then!

    ReplyDelete
  93. I thought he and the woman in T&E had less than no chemistry (and beyond the early flirting Dean seemed to have zero attraction to her).

If it were up to me, Dean would be with Cas, but if that won't happen, the only woman I liked him with was Cassie, from Route 666. The rest never worked for me - he had more chemistry with Aaron (the guy with the golem) than he did with a few of those women. And the show does such a poor job with new female characters I would hesitate to imagine who they'd bring in.

    ReplyDelete
  94. It's possible that there may yet be a twist to this, and we'll learn this isn't really what happened, but it's also very likely that the answer to your question is right here: "I wanted to see what would happen if Sam didn't look!"

In other words, Carver was interested in the reaction - specifically Dean's reaction, and didn't bother to think whether it made sense for the character Sam. Sam fans (myself included) have been harping on the lack of Sam POV and Sam being used a plot device since the start of season 6. The writers for reasons that I can't understand stopped thinking of Sam as a human character and started writing him only for reasons of plot or as a device to move Dean's character in a certain way. The biggest examples are Sam's soulness in season 6, followed by Sam's wall and the threat of catastrophic consequences if the wall broke. How did Sam's soullessness progress Sam's character development? It didn't, because the writers lost all interest in it as soon as it stopped affecting Dean's story. How did Sam's wall breaking affect Sam's character? It didn't, because the writers lost all interest in it as soon as it stopped affecting Dean's story.

Carver's quote can be interpreted as "I wanted to see how Dean would react if Sam didn't do what he expected him to do, and wasn't there for him!" I can only hope that the writers have finally gotten the message than more than a couple of fans care about Sam's character too.

  95. If Jess can't come back I would be very happy with Sam and Sarah. She could take care of herself, knew about him, Dean liked her - everything clicked. She would also be there to help Sam laugh, which he hasn't done in a long time.

  96. Yes, there may still be a twist to the story but it would have to be a huge ret-con because we were introduced to Amelia's husband and we saw her without Sam, when she went to the motel room, so it's going to be very difficult to give a blanket explanation for everything. Of course logic doesn't exist for these writers so....!

Then the show has always been narrated through Dean's POV but I've never minded that because in the first three seasons Sam and Dean were treated as equals and both had their stories.

In seasons four and five Dean's POV started to be overused, for example in eps like In The Beginning and The End, where Sam hardly appeared, but the brothers were essentially still treated more or less equally.

As for season six, I thought the plot of Sam coming back without a soul was a good one. Jared got a chance to give the character of Sam a different twist and I also enjoyed the different interaction between him and Dean. I also enjoyed the second half of season six , so I can't criticise it particularly.

In season seven, Sam's story was stolen by Castiel when he took away the Hellucinations 'repairing the wrong he did' in order to bring him back and have the brothers forgive him for breaking Sam's wall, and this was a slap to Sam, but it wasn't Dean's fault.

    X

In season seven too, Dean had more interaction with the guest stars than Sam, but IMO this season is the one in which Sam has been treated the worst.

The writers didn't seem to know what to do with him so they gave him the pukey Amelia story to keep him occupied.

Sam's character has been trashed this season worse than any other season and I still don't understand why.

Dean however has not been treated well either because the emphasis has been all on the guest stars, although it's true that Dean has been the one who gets to interact more with them while Sam gets shoved into the background.

There are only two leads in the show, you would think the writers could come up with stories that would be meaningful for both, but obviously they aren't able to. They should go to fan-fic writers for some lessons.

Sam is as important as Dean and the writers would do well to remember that.

As for Carver's quote, I think he wanted to give the brothers the two
separate story lines and he had to find a way to make them 'fall-out' by
saying that they had promised not to look for each other, which was
ridiculous, but he miscalculated and made a mess of the whole season.

  97. I wanted Dean with Jo, they were perfect together and had chemistry.

  98. At this point, I really don't care if the reason has logic, just a better reason than ran, hit dog, met girl.
I also liked soulless Sam, gave Jared a great chance to show off different acting skills and he did an awesome job. He does evil so well. lol Plus he has such great comedic timing in Clap Your Hands. Some of the best lines of the season in that one.

  99. I had different thoughts of the soulless period, but whatever, that's the not the point I was making. Whether fans enjoyed it our not, Sam's season 6 arc left a lot wanting for fans who empathized with Sam's character and wanted to know what he was thinking and feeling. We got a lot of build-up, first with the soullessness. Remember the teases in Unforgiven and in the finale ("you're not going to like what you find") about what Sam will discover about his soulless time, and how he will deal? And how it resulted in a big nothing? I could be forgetting something, but I don't think his soullessness was ever mentioned on the show again. And then again with the promised crippling trauma of the hell memories that served the purpose in season 6 of driving a wedge between Dean and Cas, but was promptly reduced to some palm rubbing when the Dean/Cas relationship stopped being the focus on the show.

You may have enjoyed parts of it, but critcally the show was a mess. I think the bigger outcry now (except for that from the Sam fans) is not because Sam's characterization is a mess, but because the writing has added new fuel to the brother wars.

As for Cas stealing Sam's storyline, Cas's purpose prior to this season has always been to support Dean's story (Cas disappears from the show when he's not in Dean's life), so by extension, Sam's soullessness/wall stories disappeared when the writers weren't using them as a tools to either split up Dean and Cas or bring them back together again (by having Cas heal Sam).

  100. I agree about Cassie (loved Dean and Cassie) and disagree about Castiel as I see no romantic/sexual attraction btw Dean and Castiel.

  101. I've been thinking that it may have been their attempt to give Sam a POV or emotional story. Singer kept on mentioning Sam's "human" story over hiatus. I think they wanted to answer fan desires, like a story [purgatory] for Dean & POV and connection for Sam, but they were lazy, didn't plan ahead, and stank writing it.
I think the biggest problem, is emotion and POV is supposed to come organically from the story, not planned ahead of time and pasted on with scotch tape.

  102. Me too! In what world would Sam Winchester NOT look for his brother?!?!?! Even Jared found Sam's actions to be OOC, and he knows Sam better than anyone, including the writers.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I think their intentions with the Amelia story were good, and an attempt to change things up. It's the not-looking-for-Dean part, which I see as completely distinct issue, that I was responding to above.

Loved your line about the POV being pasted on with scotch tape!

  104. so this show can tell us love is dead how sad for the guys for me it really suck and if the show is done then they should do what jared saids just kill them both off so nothing good happens on this show.

  105. and doesn,t make you feel bad for them? I do but that's the show we are seeing.

  106. I think your right she was kind of acting like a bitch and they was doomed the day they met I did wish there could of been some thing but not to happen I think its great sarah is coming she had more with him anyway.

  107. Hmm, since it seems that Clip Show is really going to be a series of clips from the past seven seasons, I can't say that I'm happy for Carver to bring up any more of past SPN history, seeing that he has contaminated all that he has touched so far.
    X

It seems he has confirmed that Sam didn't look for Dean, end of story; and so doing has definitely trashed Sam.

No matter what happens in the future, even if Sam were to sacrifice himself for Dean, that action will forever be imprinted on him as a character.
    So, so wrong.

  108. Well its a drama show in a horror setting, more adult than Buffy, what do you expect?
If you want a dull fluffy and pink Barbie and Ken ending Supernatural is obviously not your show. :)
I do hope Carver is though enough to give Supernatural either the Butch & Sundance ending Jared mentioned, or an open end with more "we got work to do" and we see the boys drive off to the next monster hunt.
Everything else would be total out of context, IMHO.

  109. I'm slightly homophobic, as most of Russian guys are, so Destiel was always disturbing for me. Homophobia aside, I don't see this relationship as canon. Castiel might be in love with Dean, but pure platonically, at most. Dean is straight, I'm sure. However, if they will be made lovers, I'll stop watching the show immediately.

  110. I'm with you, there are enough shows out there to fill the gay lifestyle, leave SPN alone.
