An usual reminder: the article is created as a fun way to share with all of you our favorite moments of the week and to read about yours, maybe even to recommend someone a new show worth watching. And the poll is simply to see how many people out there also liked the same scene as you did. THIS IS NOT A CONTEST. THERE ARE NO WINNERS. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. We welcome relevant, respectful comments.
My choices this week are (in the alphabetical order):
1. Show: GAME OF THRONES
Episode: “Dark Wings, Dark Words”
Date: April 7, 2013
Actor: Michelle Fairley
The Scene: Lady Stark’s story about Jon Snow
First, I was actually torn between two scenes, this one and meeting Lady Olenna. She just seems like a fantastic character (same for Margaery!) and I loved seeing Sansa getting a chance to say what she (and all of us) thinks about Joffrey. Even though she was so scared. And also, I’m feeling like the things are getting really interesting with the arrival of these new characters to the city. Can’t wait to see what they’re planning. Surely, they got plans.
The reason why I chose this scene instead is probably the fact that it’s the one that just stuck in my head the most. Very memorable scene, story and the performance by the very talented Michelle Fairley. Incredibly moving confession from Lady Stark about her wanting little Jon Snow to die and then not being able to love this motherless child. Made me feel really sorry for her, but even more for Jon. It must be hard to see someone who’s constantly reminding you of your husband’s betrayal, but the poor little boy should never pay a price for it. He didn’t even get a chance. It makes you wonder “what if”. I highly doubt that Lady Stark was right about every tragedy since that time being her fault. But, maybe, just maybe, something could have changed for the better. Unfortunately, it’s too late now to wonder, looks like we’ll never know.
2. Show: PSYCH
Episode: “Deez Nups”
Date: April 10, 2013
Actors: James Roday, Maggie Lawson
The Scene: Shawn telling Juliet the truth
This scene may not be my favorite, but it was just so important for the show that I have to mention it. In an episode so funny, romantic, positive and just great in general, this ending was completely unexpected for most of the fans and hit us hard. Of course, the truth about Shawn not being a psychic had to come out at some point, but it’s this timing that none of us (or at least me) never saw coming. Just when the things were going so great for the show’s main couple… Well, that’s just it, I guess. The creators could not wait any longer, Juliet and Shawn couldn’t make another step forward without this one last problem on their way. I just really hope it won’t take them long to get back together.
About the scene itself, very emotional and really amazing performances by both of the series’ stars. And especially the shout-out for James Roday who was also the director and co-writer of the episode! What a brilliant job he did. I absolutely loved this flashback bit, where Shawn remembers their best moments and makes the decision to tell Jules the truth. Also, the quote: "I'm good at what I do. And what I do is good. Isn't it?" Shawn’s desperation is so sad, but this simple line feels right. Also, nice to see Gus immediately noticing something is wrong , just always being there for his best friend.

3. FROM JAMIE COUDEVILLE
Glee, “Shooting Star”, April 11, 2013, Actor: Jane Lynch
The Scene: Sue covers for Becky
Sue has grown so much on this show, I absolutly love her relationship with Becky.
4. FROM DAHNE
The Following, “The Curse”, April 8, 2013, Actor: Sean Quinn Hanley
The Scene: Young Ryan kills the drug addict that murdered his father
NOTE: The scene was also picked by Jimmy Ryan and DarkUFO as Scene Of The Week!
5. FROM DARTH LOCKE
Mad Men, “The Doorway”, April 7, 2013, Actor: January Jones
The Scene: Betty's search for Sandy
Mad Men continues being exceptionally surreal as it furthers last seasons Charles Dickens/Theological-esqu themes in the season 6 premiere! There were so many scenes I loved, but thought this to be one of the most surreal and really plays well to our vein Betty struggling/soul searching to hold onto her youth, as the show is more clearly becoming about facing existentialism (death).
Game Of Thrones, “Dark Wings, Dark Words”, April 7, 2013, Actors: Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Thomas Sangster, Ellie Kendrick
The Scene: Bran meets the Reeds.
Revolution, “The Song Remains The Same”, April 8, 2013, Actor: Giancarlo Esposito
The Scene: Tom Neville escapes while repenting to God for the murders he's about to commit!
NOTE: The scene was also picked by Pascal Buijnsters as Scene Of The Week!
6. FROM BRADLEY ADAMS
NCIS, “Chasing Ghosts”, April 9, 2013, Actors: Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo, Sean Murray
The Scene: Tony goes into the apartment where McGee and Ziva are planning to go after Bodnar. Tony was so shocked, he couldn't even make jokes!
NCIS: LA, “Purity”, April 9, 2013, Actor: Chris O’Donnell
The Scene: Callen drinks the cyanide. It confused me at first as to why he would intentionally poison himself.
Nikita, “Masks”, April 12, 2013, Actors: Shane West, Devon Sawa
The Scene: Michael vs Owen (Sam) fight. Really good.
7. FROM PASCAL BUIJNSTERS
Game Of Thrones, “Dark Wings, Dark Words”, April 7, 2013, Actors: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Gwendoline Christie
The Scene: Brienne besting Jaime in the swordfight on the bridge

1-Spartacus final battle with Marcus Crassus
ReplyDelete2-Spartacus death
3-Spartacus ending credits closing the epic series with Andy Whitfield..."I AM SPARTACUS!!!!!"
The scene of the week is the entire finale of Spartacus.
ReplyDeleteHands down the AWESOME fight scene between Mikey and Sam!
ReplyDeleteAgree with Kat Hale, scene of week anything from the Spartacus Finale
ReplyDeleteSo I might have changed my mind a bit after watching Nikita. Feels like the Michael and Owen fight should be at least honorable mention;)
ReplyDeleteI wish Being Human was included, so good this season.
ReplyDeleteThe Following, three scenes.
1. (agree) Ryan vs Joe through the glass.
2. Ryan and Mike in the ambulance talking about limits. (I know the killing was part of this but the whole scene was great.
3. Jacob calling his dad.
Oh New Girl, Jess's face when finding out the picture was Nick.
Okay done
How could I forget about the story about Jon Snow! GoT was hard, too many great scenes. ;_;
ReplyDeletelmao Shane West and Devon Sawa just promoted this poll, in case anyone started wondering where all those votes suddenly came from :P
ReplyDeleteFor me personally it has to be the entire Spartacus finale. Bates Motel was also really great this week, and especially that scene between Norman and Dylan.
Nikita scene all the way.
ReplyDeleteGo On - When Ryan goes to spread Janie's ashes at the spot where they used to play basketball. Choked me up!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the last Nikita or The Americans yet, so I can't comment on it, but I loved the last scene between Hannibal and Will on Hannibal. Every scene between them was great, but Will admitting that he liked killing Hobbs and Hannibal saying that it must feel good to God, He does it all the time and it makes him feel powerful. It's straight from the book, but it was riveting as hell.
ReplyDeleteThe Nikita fight, that was shockingly brutal and well done. Devon indicated that Shane and him performed the entire thing themselves, no stuntmen; bet that left some serious bruising.
ReplyDeleteTell me about it! Everything I watched had a really nice variety of interesting scenes this past week!
ReplyDeleteI just finished caught up with Hannibal too!! --I totally can see why the mushroom forest scene was picked!! (and I'm excited because I read Mr.Harris is writing another novel. I'm hoping it will be Hannibal related in some way. It's always been one of my favorite book series.)
you might want to g and watch nikita NOW!
ReplyDeleteLOL. I want to (it sounds like a crazy episode) but I watch both shows with my mom, so I'm waiting on her.
ReplyDeleteNashville was my number 1 this week, that hug showed just how much they love each other and then getting to see them talk about the past they shared was great, no one can take that from them. It broke my heart how sad Deacon looked when he went to see Stacey. Other great moments for me was NCIS and Go On.
ReplyDeleteJaime and Brienne´s scene was my favorite this week. But the scene from Hannibal was also great.
ReplyDeleteThe Nikita and Nashville scenes.
ReplyDeleteSean. I agree that Joan`s bl0g is neat, last wednesday I got a brand new Alfa Romeo since I been earnin $4886 this last 5 weeks and-over, $10 thousand last munth. it's actualy the easiest-job I have ever had. I began this five months/ago and almost straight away startad bringin in over $84... p/h. I use the details on this web-site,, fab22.comCHECK IT OUT
ReplyDeleteI always love the lady stark scenes, after this Neville in revolution and Sue covers Becky in Glee.
ReplyDeleteNIKITAAAAA!
ReplyDeleteGlee - from the moment the first shot rang, the quick reactions, Sam trying to go after Brit, the bathroom scene and the kitchen. Oh, and also Tina in the end with Blaine. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
ReplyDeletePsych - Shawn telling the truth to Juliette
Being Human US season finale and Vikings (the three deaths) really deserved to be on the list.
ReplyDeleteUsually my scenes are ones that I find funny. None of them were this week. Change in tempo from me.
ReplyDeleteYes, it really surprised me. Half of what I usually watch wasn't even on this week and still there was a lot to choose from. I haven't even caught up with Hannibal yet, watched the pilot and am about the watch the mushroom episode. And still have to see the latest episode of Bates Motel and the pilot for Da Vinci's Demons. Of course my fathers emergency surgery threw in a wrench there as well. Only watched Revolution last night because of that, not much to be done about it really. Seems I have some catching up to do!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes I read that too, about Harris writing another novel! I thought it was just a rumor? The Hannibal novels are great! I always hear a lot of animosity towards Red Dragon, but it might be one of my favorites of the series. :) Any preference yourself?
*please don't shoot the messenger* ;)
Also, Defiance starts tomorrow! From Rockne O'Bannon, the creator of Farscape. That show is the reason I got into sci-fi and tv-shows in general!
Loved that scene on NCIS and the scene that came after it: Gibbs knew about Ziva's search (duh!) and granted her and Tony permission to track Bodnar down in Europe. Then Vance's nod of approval of this revenge mission.
ReplyDeleteOn Nashville, I did like that scene between Rayna and Deacon but I loved the scene where Deacon puts Juliette in her place and refers to Rayna as his family. Even if I didn't like the possibility of romance between him and Rayna, I still thought this was sweet.
I agree on Glee. While something didn't sit right with me about how Becky was the one with the gun and Sue covered for her, the New Directions kids and the adults in their lives (Mr. Shue, Bieste, and Marley's mom) did a phenomenal job. I was in a similar situation in 7th grade and it was scary.
ReplyDeleteNikita!!!!!Michael~~~~~
ReplyDelete最喜欢Nikita了!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to her about your father again. Hope his surgery went well.
ReplyDeleteA preference? I liked Hannibal and Hannibal Rising a lot, where especially the prequel, gets a lot of slack for not being as "pulp" as the others, as it's more of an atmospheric period piece/origin story, more than a suspense thriller, even though it still dances around Hannibal and murder. I thought HR really enhanced everything Hannibal became and tied Harris' series together tighter.
I'll be checking out Defiance too (will DVDR it and catch later in the week! I'm 2 episodes behind on The Americans too!)
Take care!
NIKITA FOR SURE !!
ReplyDeleteThanks, didn't mean to hijack our conversation with my father. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteOh, please one can hardly accuse you of hijacking conversations! Me on the other hand, well lets just say I have had my lengthy share arguments and on going conversation...
ReplyDeleteNCIS, Nikita and Psych for me! those were great! and heartbreaking! :(
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Psych. It was such an important moment to the show, and Maggie killed it. I've never seen her acting on this level, it was so raw and truthful, crudely real. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call that hijacking either! I always love your ability and willingness to discuss various topics and shows! :)
ReplyDeleteWow that scene in Deez Nups...wow.
ReplyDelete
