It was another easy Thursday overnight victory for CBS care of its combination of “The Big Bang Theory” (#1 for the evening: 10.8 rating/18 share), “Two and a Half Men” (#2), which the network is in conversations with Warner Bros. to bring back for an 11th season, “Person of Interest” (9.2/15) and “Elementary” (#1: 6.8/12). “Elementary,” of course, is officially renewed for next season, but a loss of 26 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of “Person of Interest” (9.2/15) and erosion of 13 percent from year-ago occupant “The Mentalist” (7.8/13 on 4/0/5/12) means a move to lower HUT level Friday is likely.
In series premiere news, NBC drama “Hannibal” finished a distant third at 10 p.m. with a 3.1/ 5 in the overnights. Comparably, this bested failed year-ago occupant “Awake” (2.1/ 4 on 4/05/12) by 48 percent. It built from a Thursday 9:30 p.m. edition of sitcom “Go On” (#4: 1.8/ 3) by 72 percent. And it held the audience at 9:30 p.m. So, all things considered, the “loser” label does not apply for “Hannibal” by any means. But since most new series drop in the vicinity of 10 to 20 percent in week two, this is not exactly a “winning” opening performance either.
As for the first of two Thursday 9:30 p.m. airings of Matthew Perry’s “Go On,” the cancellation clock should now be rapidly ticking.
Earlier in the evening on NBC were low-rated trio “Community” (#4: 2.1/ 3), “Parks and Recreation” (#4: 2.3/ 4) and soon-to-conclude “The Office” (#4: 2.7/ 4) from 8-9:30 p.m. At this point, NBC should announce one final shortened season of “Parks and Recreation” (a la recently concluded “30 Rock).
Over at ABC, recent returnee “Wife Swap” opened with a distant third-place 3.1/ 5 in the overnights at 8 p.m., followed by the compatible pairing of veteran “Grey’s Anatomy” (#2: 6.8/11), which built by five percent year-to-year, and sophomore “Scandal” (#2: 6.2/11), which held 91 percent of the “Grey’s” lead-in. Anticipate a first place time period finish among adults 18-49 for “Scandal.”
Elsewhere, Fox opened with the live “American Idol” Results Show (#2: 8.1/14 at 8 p.m.), which slid by 19 percent from the 10.0/17 one year earlier. And in place of regularly scheduled “Glee” were sitcoms “New Girl” (#3: 3.6/ 6) and “The Mindy Project” (#3: 2.5/ 4) from 9-10 p.m., which could have been a test for a potential hour of Thursday sitcoms on Fox next season.
The CW filled the night encores of “The Vampire Diaries” (#5: 0.8/ 1) and “Beauty and the Beast” (#5: 0.7/ 1).

Each day (except Sunday) we post the TV Ratings for the previous night.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).

Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the
Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below)
