  1. LOTS of great scenes in this episode--the best so far this season, I'd say. I went for the Tyrion/Bronn/Pod scene, but the stuff with Jaime was great, too--not only the (much-anticipated, for readers of the book) hand scene, but for the hints of his changing attitude to Brienne we saw in the earlier scenes. And the song, of course! :p

  2. My favorite scene this week was our introduction to House Tully.

Meeting the Blackfish and seeing upstage his folly-prone nephew was amazing to me!

Close would be Tyrion being made the Master of Coin....
Everyone fights to sit close to Tywin and wants to seem more important than the other Small Council members, but Tyrion pulls his chair to the complete other end of the table to make his point! XD
He no longer needs, nor wants daddy dearest's approval.

  3. I loved the Tyrion paying back Pod brothel scene too! XD

My favorite of the brothel scenes by far. We got a Meereenese Knot joke and Tyrion made Pod feel like a somebody and not just some nameless squire!

  4. Jaime losing his hand was amazing... not the actual loss of limb, necessarily, but seeing him taken down a peg for being a spoiled little rich boy that cries "daddy" whenever he gets into trouble... I live to be annoyed by the guy, but the dude who took his hand was fantastic in his delivery.

I also laughed aloud twice during the episode, though - at the scene in the beginning where the first archer missed the funeral pyre (I get that it wasn't necessarily supposed to be funny, but I cackled nonetheless) and the squire schooling Tyrion and Bronn how to get it for free... priceless.

  5. the Jamie hand loss was shocking, but the 2 scenes that I particularly loved was the council meeting with Tywin and the rearranging of the chairs that had no dialogue for almost 2 mins, and the scene with Bronn, Tyrion, and Pod discussing and delving for the details of how Pod did " a great many things" to 3 whores and they didn't charge him... great ep overall

I picked Daenerys mostly because her character evolution has been fabulous. Reminding Mormont and Selmy of their places really showed she's in full command.

  7. Anything Daenerys related and the chair shuffle =) I laughed so hard at that

  8. Chair shuffle! :D Gotta love Tyrion!

  9. The handless Jaime jokes are getting out of han... dammit!

  10. After a pointless Tyrion scene last week (well, however much a scene featuring the great Peter Dinklage can be considered pointless), the votes for best scenes have to go to those featuring him. The whole Brothel scene and aftermath were hilarious, with Tyrion really living up to his impish name, in line delivery and expressions, when he introduced the three whores. And then there was the chair shuffle, a great and silent act of defiance in a room of sycophants. Not to mention the fact that putting himself at the opposite end of the table is a not just a finger up to his dad, but in mirroring his Father at the head of the table, demonstrates his mental capabilities and exerts a mirrored power of the others.

  11. Jaime saving Brienne only to get his hand cut of was my favorite. It was a great story in the books and it played out well on TV aswell.

In close second was Tyrion moving his chair to sit at the end of the table. I love Tyrion, Tywin, Lord Varys and Littlefinger, and having them all in the same room was just fantastic.

  12. Daenery's scenes were wonderful and very character driven, and gotta love the shock when she offered Drogon to them! But I thought the Theon's chase was incredible as well as shocking. I'm really diggin those two storylines. Oh, and King Robb for the win!!! The way he's changed from the son of Ned at the end of season 1 to being a true king is pretty amazing.

  13. Entire Pod brothel scene and paying back Tyrion after 'getting it' for free was up there amongst the musical chairs part in Tywin's meeting and Jaime losing a hand.

Plus finally an episode without that little windbag Joffrey - damn I wish someone would just kill that wimp already.

My only problem with the Jamie scene was I feel there was a disconnect between him saving Brienne and him losing his hand. He could have shut his mouth after re-iterating his bribe, but instead he pushed his luck and got cocky believing that he could get away with anything not just because of Daddy's money but because of his own vain views of his wit and charm. It'd be one thing to sacrifice his hand to help Brienne, it's another when he's spinning it into his own game.

  15. All of the above really.Plus the funeral scene where Edmure missed the shots.I kinda had the same reaction with Robb, attempting not to laugh because of the serious scene.Loved the episode!

  16. Too many great scenes for me to count them all off. Actually besides Talisa "playing" with their hostage every single one of them were great.

  17. Would you think lesser of me if you know that I recognized a few of Podrick's presents from someplace else?? lol

  18. A scene without any talking and funny as hell. I wonder why Tywin put up with that and did not explode. Maybe he is a bit friendlier to Tyrion when there is no company around.

  19. Too soon! :D

  21. Puh, that's a hard one.
Everything with Tyrion, Jamie and Danny

  22. Bronn's "But what if I don't?"

  23. Happy to see that you liked Jaime´s scenes. :-D

  24. Yes, I loved that she put them in their place.

  25. I respect those who deserve it. He deserves my respect for protecting Brienne from being raped a dozen times or more and maybe even being killed after that.

  26. I season one and two I felt like a lot of people discussed the scenes that was not in the books. A lot of these scenes were not in the book, but were all great scenes. They still stay true to the story and don´t change anything major.

  27. So many great scenes, I laughed so hard at the funeral and then the game of musical chairs. I think the Jaime scene wins though I was so tense watching it as I knew what was going to happen and yet bam the sudden cut to the credits was amazing.

  28. My favorite scenes were the ones with Jaime and Brienne. Amazing performances by both of their actors. Also, every Theon scenes this season are amazing and creepy!

  29. I was waiting for the scene were Jaime's hands were cut of, and it was as amazing as I expected it. Also, the rest of the scene with Brienne was also amazing and I loved to see Dany and Missandei. "But we are not men" was very well delivered.

  30. I picked Naster of the Coin ONLY because of the chair shuffle. I almost burst a gasket I laughed so hard. talk about a sight gag that reveals character.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think that was pretty much the point. Jaime would be in a better position if he knew when to shut his mouth.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I dunno. He was pretty damn mean to him when Tyrion brought up inheriting everything when Tywin died.
