Tyrion's conversation with Tywin. Shit, it was amazing. Both are great actors! Everyting was perfect... the music, the room, the tension between them... You could see that Tyrion was feeling bad :(
I would rename the scene to Jon meets Tormund and Mance Ryder. Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane) had one of the best introductions on the series. The way a wildling-character should be introduced.
So many great scenes to choose from. My two picks were firstly the Tyrion/Tywin scene for obvious reasons. And the Royal dinner, since there were so many underlying messages carried in it with Cersei feeling threatened by Maergary and how both fight for Joffrey.
Knew his return from the books, but even for me it would have been a much bigger surprise, if they wouldn't have shown his leave of the King's Guard in the "Previously on" segment.
For the first time ever, I thought the Jon Snow storyline was the most interesting. The introduction to the Wildling camp, the Giants, Mance Rayder... Along with the White Walkers, Ghost and the awesome ''Everyone you've ever known will be dead'' line before the title sequence. Yes, that counts as ''Jon Snow storyline''. Although there was a LOT to love about this episode.
I went with the Tyrian/Tywin scene, as it was so splendidly played by Dance and Dinklage, though there were other strong contenders. Also, there was no brutal violence to opt for.... :(
Jon meeting Mance. Mance was just as I pictured him and that made my day. Can´t wait for all the Mance scenes coming up. Tyrion vs Tywin was also great, the two actors did an amazing job. I really liked Margaerys scenes as well, she is a much lighter character, who plays the game differntly.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI think the two iconic books scenes of Jon meeting Mance and Tyrion learning Tywin will NEVER give him Casterly Rock were both AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteThey were right out of the book and jumped to the screen in such perfect ways.
Easily my two favorites.
>Casterleigh Rock
ReplyDeleteLOL
I'm with the majority here and was flailing all around when Barristan Selmy showed up.

ReplyDeleteSo true! XD
ReplyDeleteI think they felt that the non-readers would forget who Selmy was and needed a refresher.
Yeah, I know...lowest common denominator. :/
ReplyDeleteThe dinner scene had me laughing a whole lot and laughter is rare for this show so I would pick that.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Tyrion demanding Casterleigh Rock. But I liked his conversation with Cersei too.
