Well, it was definitely better than last year's finale, which I can't remember too much of. Ugh at Carl shooting the guy when he was putting his gun down and I'm glad Hershel called him out. Cannot believe Carl shaded his own father like that and Rick let him get away with it.
Ugh, poor Andrea! I didn't like her, but that was sad. Hopefully this won't be like last year where I hated Shane, but still missed him after he died. And aww, Michonne was so upset!
Was expecting an unexpected shoot-out at the end. Looking forward to next season, although I hate that we have such a long wait.
Nothing happen to him. We're suppose to think that he rediscovered himself and recreated his headless fish tank with those two buddies. You know like when a main character from any movie goes off to the sunset and we're suppose to think he found peace, lol.
Carl tweaked my nerves on this episode. First when he killed the kid in the woods then his reaction to Rick bringing back the Woodbury survivors. What worries me is if he turns into one of the ones we get irritated with (Shane, Andrea, Merle) will he be the next to die. The show needs Carl. Rick seemed to reach an impasse when he looked for Lori on the catwalk and she wasn't there. Maybe his mind has cleared. I expected more out of this finale though. I expected a satisfying end to The Governor's life. Andrea's death didn't come as much of a surprise to me. I expected her to die but I was hoping her death would involve ending The Governor's life in some way. Carl did have a point when he explained to Rick why he shot the kid in the woods. When deeds are left undone it always comes back to bite them in the ass. I just hate waiting seven months to find out what's going to happen next. It was weird though. Rick passed up helping a single hitchhiker near his hometown but yet he brings back an entire busload of people from Woodbury.
I was expecting so much more..this season was great, but the finale was so weird..don't looked like a Season Finale..I guess i had to high expectations..and the Governor..WTF!
Wow, after a great 3rd season, that was just a terrible finale. Literally didn't settle the score with the Governor, they had a terrible 5-minute "invasion" that ended up being a joke...and then they kill Andrea off with a Milton zombie...after having like a dozen worse situations she's been in before? Bah, that was just no good for me.
I'm not going to say I didn't enjoy it because I did enjoy parts of it, but it definitely was the weakest finale of the 3 that we've had. The first half of the season was action and big things happening, just bam bam bam for 8 episodes (maybe 1 was a little slow). But this whole second half of the season pretty much prolonged the inevitable war between the prison and Woodbury. And what did we get? We got them storming the prison for about 5 minutes then getting scared off with a few bullets only to have all but a few get gunned down by the Governor.
After what we saw, I'm actually not surprised Glenn Mazara got ousted, he definitely dropped the ball after the first half of season 3. At least he had a full season's worth (2nd half of season 2 and 1st half of season 3) of quality shows.
While I didn't like the show's Andrea (her comic self kicks ass), it was pretty sad that she got killed in the end. Figured Milton would die. And the Governor still lives, also expected, but I'm curious what his role will be next season. He doesn't have much of a force with only 2 people on his side now. I guess he'll pick his battles trying to take out the prison.
The best thing that came out of the finale was that Tyreese is now back with the good guys and Maggie survived.
Hmm. I don't know what to think. There were some great scenes, and I didn't expect the Governor to die - but to have nothing was just weak. Some sort of Rick/Governor confrontation was needed in my opinion.
Andrea's death was well-handled, but I don't believe she should have died so soon. Given little to no redemption for her antics throughout the season, her death leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Michonne's scenes were great, and I was sad to see Milton go.
The worst part is, the video stream I was watching said the finale was 49 minutes, so I was expecting a whole extra 7 minutes of carnage after the end, What I was actually met with was a black screen and silence. Great.
I am sorry, but TWD needs to look at other shows, that despite the interest of money, satisfyingly end confrontations they build to. See: Breaking Bad.
That was just terrible. I used to think that TWD was a throw back to LOST in the sense that, no matter how bad some of the episodes might be, the finales by far were always worth the wait and made some of the best hours of tv I have seen. Even the season 2 finale of TWD was worth watching. This one, however, is a sad shell of what the show could be if only it took more inspiration from its comic book counter part.
We all want the show to be awesome but they make it so difficult some times.
Mine said 49 minutes too! But then in the last 3 minutes of the actual episode the sound cut back so the music at the end just randomly stopped when Carl eyed the new group and I thought that was funny until I found out the sound jumped back to when Tyreese was shooting at Rick.
That last scene with michonne and andrea.. it broke my heart im still in shock..
i have to let something off my chest.. Its funny to me how a lot of people disliked andrea..to be frank if i were in her place i would have done the exact same thing going into woodbury and not leaving.. and the scene a few episodes ago of the reunion of the group and andrea just pissed me off the way they treated her.. they left her for dead in the season 2 finale and yet they still expected some sense of loyalty? to hell with the damn group..
It was a let down to see the Governor just walk away!
I did like that Carl knew enough to shoot hte kid. He had it coming for not dropping his weapon if you ask me. I know they were trying to make it seem that Carl has gone cold, but I think he is a realist myself!
In that situation I would have done the same thing! However, I would not be against anyone joining if they seemed safe, sane and reliable. So maybe Carl does have some trust issues!
Did not mind Andrea dying, but I think the way they did it was a let down! To have Milton attempt to help her by leaving the pliers. Then have her escape using said pliers and manage to kill the biter, but still be bitten was just an odd choice to me.
It was a let down for a season finale - No doubt about it. Over all this was a good episode, but not great... maybe better than "OK though.
That the governor is still alive sucks, that andrea died, was really sad and I think that the writers could made so much more of her character, but her storyline has hit the wall - thanks to the writers, she could have just died.
Wasn't that season building up to a epic battle between the governor and rick? I mean, seriously? That was nothing.
AND NOW THE END: I just repeat mysel, what the fuck was that? I could punch the writers right now.
- Now they have old people and children in their group, that means --> no action.
The writers should stop smoking whatever the smoked during writing this episode - i have a feeling that season 4 will (first) be like season:
"Let's Play our little farm..." - Upps, sry -> "Let's play prison with ocassionally walker appearences" -.-"
Terrible finale, all the damn build-up for nothing, not to mention the writers' stupid decision to kill off Merle for no reason. It seems that they have the least interest in the show and are just looking for stupid excuses to fill up their episodes.
The only good thing out of this was the Governor's survival, although I'm disappointed that the finale wasn't the prison assault we were all waiting from the comics.
Andrea : "I tried" = ´´´´´´´´´( Sometimes You just have to acknowledge that you can`t have it all. May it be the most beautiful house, the best car, the best family, the most gorgeous partner, happiness, lots of money.... Sometimes you just have to give up on some stuff in order to enjoy the other things that you do have . It is not mediocrity, It is a matter of setting up priorities. Sometimes we take for granted what we do have and fight for the other stuff and in the way, we end up losing everything. Like Andrea did. (Like Walter White from Breaking Bad, Liz Lemon from 30 rock etc.)
I liked this ep more than a lot of the commenters, but this ep definitely wasn't the best finale after an otherwise great season. Granted the Governor is a great character, and was played well by DM, but I would've preferred to have him killed off like in the comics and move on to the next big situation. I can only guess that this is to prolong this antagonist for another season. I'm a bit on the fence on taking in all the refugees into the prison as this definitely diverges away from the plot path (spoilers) in the comics as does Tyreese surviving past the prison (and I figured he would since he was introduced much later than in the comics) and the killing off of Andrea, who I think is still in the most recent issues of the comics (as Rick's girlfriend), so I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the writers come up with in the season to come.. a decent ep, if a bit underwhelming.
This show has created a few problems for itself: - Having time pass between the S2 finale and S3 premiere and allowing characters to get stronger than they were effectively making the walkers less of a threat was a bad move and did not benefit the show long term. - We only care for about 5 characters the rest are just filler, we need to be invested in them and the ones we aren't interested in (Carol) need to be discarded. - Merle could have been utilised better - The Governor's portrayal was a bad move from the series. They should never have tried to make him sympathetic, he should have just been evil. - He needed to scar the group physically as well as emotionally. Maybe he should have given Maggie the cut on her face that Andrea had in the comics. - The season should have ended (and by this I mean with sufficient build up in previous episodes) with Tyreese bringing the woodbury people back to the prison while the Governor and the evil members of his army catch Rick, Michonne and Daryl. - Hershal (I really do like the character) should have been executed as he was in the comic.
i knew reading the comics would make me judge this show more frequently. I guess they're not following the actual stoylines from the comics ( which i like more) and i'm not ok with that... Killing Andrea was the dumbest and stupidest idea i've ever seen on this show ( besides from keeping Carol alive this long , who has done nothing important, and killing Lori way too early) because she becomes a badass at killing zombies and she's takes a very important role in future events that are really awesome.
imo, she died for nothing, so the writers blew it. big time. and also, i expected more fight and death between the humans, not this. i'm actually ok with the governor surviving and coming back for next season. But the season needs to be relocated. i can't stand the prison anymore. Too much!
Not the best finale, but it wasn't their best episode
It just didn't work on so many levels for me. It betrayed the build up of half of a season, It left the gates way open for yet another season of Rick V/S the Governor when the only thing that made it bearable was the hope of an epic payout, and it denied Andrea as a character any atonement for her bad decisions after a season where she did nothing of consequence and just tagged along as the plot demanded.
The only interesting part for me was Carl flipping and then rationalizing it, that kid is dead inside.
In comparison to season one and two's finale, I think it wasn't as good. Their finale's left me either at the edge of my seat thoroughly excited for the next season or just sat on my chair with a gaping mouth. However, I didn't really feel like that with this finale. Sure, there were good scenes- I was very upset to find [spoilers] had been bitten, and I think they did that scene well- but then if you were to compare the good scenes with others... Eh.. Like, what the hell with the Governor? I'm glad Tyreese is with the prison group now though, Tyresse is boss in the comics :)
Overall, I'd give it a 6/10, or even 7/10 if I'm being generous.
I don't think that's what we're supposed to think. :p I think they want us to be frustrated that they let the most evil man on the planet live so we will be even more satisfied when he's finally killed... Of course, that could go either way if they stretch it out too long.
I'm really disappointed that Andrea isn't the Andrea from the comics, and now never will be. I was hoping for a redemption there. Also, how can she not take on one walker?
Also, the Governor is now officially insane. It will be interesting to see what he comes back as next season! He'll either come back trying to redeem himself, or Woodbury will fill with the worst kind of people like in the comics. I hope it's the latter!
I have to say, I'm surprised at how many people dislike dthis episode. I thought it was a great one, certainly not the weakest this season (though not as good as Merle's blaze of glory last week) and better than most of season two. I liked the fact that it deliberately avoided the huge confrontation conclusion since, frankly, much as such things are fun, they're also pretty much a cliche by now. Far more interesting to keep the focus on the increasing human cost, notably in Andrea's death. I can't believe they killed her in yet another major deviation from the comic. More importantly, I really can't believe thay made me sad to see her go, given what a colossal tool she was for most of the run of the show. (Even here, chatting with the guy who's about to come a zombie and rip your throat out, ratther than hustling your ass--or nicely-manicured feet-- to get those pliers? Typical Andrea bone-headedness! I almost laughed when Milton said, "You'd better hurry." Well, duh!) Andrea's riff on not wanting anybody else to die played beautifully against Carl's coldly rational and yet horrifying argument for killing first and asking questions later. Hi there, mister mini-Governor! (That kid is one fine actor, BTW.) I am also glad of the huge deviation from the comics Governor-wise, because David Morrissey and the writers have made him a vastly more interesting and nuanced character than he was in the comics (where he reminded me of nothing so much as the typical eye-rolling scenery-chewing nutcake villain nobody could ever trust for a second). To see him finally completely snap and mow down his own people was a great addition, though why Heckle and Jeckle don't then just gun himself down themselves is not entirely clear. Would YOU get back in a truck with that guy? Anyway, I liked the episode a lot and thought it did a great job of building to key climaxes, just not the ones we might have wanted/expected. Good show!
He went on to start a boyband with Caesar and Shupert called Woodbury Boys. Their debut album is conveniently titled: Wow, It Is Amazing How Fucking Crazy I Really Am.
Your last sentence sums up my feelings about The Walking Dead right now... The Governor was my favourite character and the writers managed to fuck him up too. If I were the Governor I would've shot that woman that was lying below a body.
Pretty poor, with writing that was just sloppy. The attack on the prison was ridiculous, and some of the group thinking they'd won and would be fine? Silly.
I liked Andrea (despite her being a bit lame) so was sad to see her die - Michonne killed it.
Some things for me just don't sync with how it would've been in reality:
1. The real Governor would never let the woman lying below a body live just to save a bullet, he would've shot every single body to the head with no hesitation.
2. Even though this is Andrea we're talking about, I don't believe it would take 10 minutes for anyone to grap a pair of cliers with her toes.
3. Even for a child as retarded as Carl (yeah, yeah, his mother died, boo-freaking-hoo) I don't believe anyone would shoot a man just like that for no apparent reason, not even The Governor.(!)
Despite some good moments this finale was... TERRIBLE!!!
That'd be cool. I'd like to see a further descent for him rather than redemption. He seems to be heading towards the comic counterpart - pure evil. To fill Woodbury with loyal, sick-minded people as well, rather than women and children, would fit the story nicely. Maybe in season 4 mid season finale, we'll see the comic book showdown that leaves the prison devastated with many many casualties.
I'm not sure if those complaining about the last episode, and the last season in general, are watching the same show as me. I /loved/ season 3. Loved the season finale. Truthfully, I've loved the flow of all the seasons. I hated that Andrea died, but its a show about the dead..
I never 'read' the comics, so I don't know who these characters were in it, but I don't exactly want them to follow the comics anyway because in the comics, as I've heard, EVERYONE DIES except Carl. And Daryl, one of the most interesting characters, wasn't even in the comics.
I couldn't have said it better. I just hope there is SOME showdown to give closure about the whole prison vs governor. But it shouldn't go further than mid season finale. There are new, bigger stories to explore and last 8 episodes of season 4 would be the perfect set-up to the Alexandria storyline
Im sorry Michael but I really like Carol I think she has real heart and is really grounded, I would hate to see her gone. Im looking forward to seeing where they are going to go especially with the new people, it is going to be hard to look after these lot they are not fighters and are going to be a right pain in the arse. The way young Carl is now he may be taking them out left right and centre unless his Dad sorts him out!
I'm kind of on Carl's side in this. The kid did not and was not laying down the gun, just getting closer to Carl. The way he was holding the gun it could have been used as a club. I think Carl was spot on. Kid should have done what he was told.
I was so sad with Andrea's death. People hated her around here, but I was literally praying for her up until the end. So sad. I loved how rick said "us" instead of "them". Laurie Holden did a fantastic job the whole season, I am sad that her character was so poorly received and that they decided to axe her. Also, I liked what the governor brought to the table very much this season, but honestly, I am not invested in him as a character, he is just too over the top for that for me, so I would rather if they had killed him off in this season finale. Overall, still amazing, but Andrea's death really is a major loss for the show IMO
1. He didn't see her! 2. Have you actually tried? Please try to do so, especially when you are in risk of death and someone you liked was just killed right in front of you. Then tell me if takes 10 minutes or not. 3. Please tell me how Carl is retarded. Shooting his mother is boo freaking hoo? If that is really what you think, especially after they've addressed that, maybe you should just stop watching the show, you are unable to understand it. Good riddance.
I agree with the last paragraph about being gutted about the governor still being around, but I don't think they will go down that route for season 4, I trust them well enough for that
Carl was justified shooting that guy. Carl said to put the gun down, the guy didn't and kept creeping closer. Its the same tactic Merle used successfully when he kidnapped Glenn and Maggie.
Yep. He's why I gave the episode an awesome. The look on Hershel's face when he took him out with the homemade silencer and then basically telling Rick what he should do. The transformation of Carl was indeed a good one.
Too hard to defend. Like some of the residents began to say, they aren't fighters. They'll kill walkers because they have to but not people. They ended bringing a bus load of people who can't shoot a gun because the Governor had all those and there are only two of them left.
I liked how tptb handled the whole idea of the prison group vs the Governor's group. At first it appears the prison group is leaving but later we discover it is only a trick. To me it showed how the prison group planned and used their strategy against the Governor who is a loose cannon that comes in firing all guns with no real plan other than to kill everyone. The Governor has misjudged Rick and his group which was much more trained for real combat, and with this frustration his sanity snapped later when he realized he had lost the fight. I think this will be a good setup for next season when we will get to see what happens to the Governor now that he lost so easily to the prison group.
In a way I was not surprised by Carl shooting that other boy. The moment that I thought of was in the episode where we see the hitch hiker man wanting Rick to stop the car for him. Carl saw this and wanted to say something to his dad but once again Rick was enforcing the idea to Carl that people can't be trusted in this new world, no matter what. Later they stop to take the man's backpack when he was killed by zombies. So now just as Rick is finally coming to the realization he must change his ways, Carl has also decided it's kill or be killed no questions asked. Another good setup for Carl and Rick's relationship next season.
Well, it's been good to know Andrea but I do think her character's role as a type of leader in Woodbury wouldn't fit in if she had survived to join the prison group. She was almost on the same level as Rick and I'm not sure how the character would compliment her old group again. I actually think Michonne has taken the place that Andrea left open when she stayed at Woodbury. It was terribly frustrating to see her slowly struggle with those pliers though!! I guess I thought she might survive there towards the end and it would have been cool to see that whole scene play out with Milton attacking her. I assume the group took her body back for a proper burial at the prison. RIP Andrea, you fought the good fight against the zombies and the chaos of a world gone crazy.
I'm anxious to see where tptb take us next season at "Prisonville" with it's new population growth. More mouths to feed and more conflicts arising. I would also love to see Morgan again and maybe even have the Governor stumble upon that town where Rick and Carl once lived. Maybe the Governor needs to live on the road for awhile before we get that final confrontation with the prison group.
You mean the Governor drove away. They seem to have had plenty of gas to go around this season, even the group, who had run out at the end of last season. Was there any mention of where the gas was coming from the entire season? I don't even think that there was a token gas siphoning (I'm pretty sure I spelled that wrong). Two things that I'm hoping the new showrunner does is get rid of the cars unless they're absolutely necessary for the story (and they probably won't be), and the same thing for bullets, they're using too many things willy-nilly that they should be using as little as possible (or that they should have run out of already). With regards to Andrea getting bit, it was Milton that bit her, not another walker.
Even worse than the gas situation is the fact that they are driving around in brand new Hyundais that were made 'after' the outbreak. Who is still running car factories and shipping them from Korea?
It wasn't the best season finale going, and I was expecting a lot more from the 'final showdown' but I am quite surprised by the level of negativity I am reading. I have a couple of qualms with some of the remarks that are being made. Maybe it's just because I haven't read the comics.
Firstly, I am a big fan of The Governor (not that I support his murderous ways, just that he's a compelling character) and I actually wasn't expecting him to die this episode. He's too delicious an antagonist to get rid of at this (hopefully) early stage of the show's run. I'm hoping he'll go away for a bit and then return at some point in season 4 for more action. I don't care that he died in the comics, I couldn't give a damn. This is a different story.
Secondly, Andrea. Nearly the entire fanbase of the show has reviled Andrea for most of the past three seasons. Myself included up until relatively recently. So of course they were going to kill her off. Now that she is dead you're all complaining because she'll never have the chance to be badass like the comic book. Again, sod the comics, I couldn't give a damn. This is a different story.
One thing I agree with most people about, though, is Carl. Carl was right to shoot that kid. It's all he's ever been taught. Has everyone forgotten that Rick and everyone apart from Dale were inches from murdering the kid back at the barn, who was totally unarmed and tied up, and probably a similar age to the kid in this finale. And this kid had a gun. And to be honest, I thought he was going to suddenly fire at Carl, so I don't blame Carl for pre-empting him at all. Good on him I say.
As a reader of the comics, they don't need to keep him around for the show to survive. There's plenty of great story they can pull from for the show beyond the Governor.
But are they really gonna do the Alexandria storyline? Will they move to another filming location? I've been going over the logistics of how they'd do that since the beginning of season three. They'd have to construct an entire community of nice houses, etc., basically a neighborhood. They do have the opportunity to work up to doing it, though. Seeing as how they were on the road for a while between meeting Abraham, Maria and Eugene and joining them on their way to D.C.
It's really sad to see "poorly conceived character" as a description when they had an amazing character in the comics to draw from. I'd been suspecting for the last half of the season they were working up to Andrea's being killed. It made me sad. Because Laurie Holden would've been amazing as the comic!Andrea.
It's actually like 28 Days Later. They only think it's the whole world that's crumbled. It's actually just the US. They'll see a British Airways plane fly over sooner or later and realize what's up.
Carl was also responsible for not only Hershel and Beth's lives but his baby sister's. After what he had to do to help bring that kid into the world, it's not surprising he's going to do whatever it takes to protect her from harm. You can't trust anyone in this world now. Esp. not someone from a group of people who rolled up with military issue weaponry fixing to kill you and everyone you know.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Well, it was definitely better than last year's finale, which I can't remember too much of. Ugh at Carl shooting the guy when he was putting his gun down and I'm glad Hershel called him out. Cannot believe Carl shaded his own father like that and Rick let him get away with it.

Was expecting an unexpected shoot-out at the end. Looking forward to next season, although I hate that we have such a long wait.
What the hell was that? The least satisfying finale of a show I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the governor?
Carl, new definition of a human being in the world of The Walking Dead, uncaring and pure ruthless. I'm loving it. lol.
ReplyDeleteThe governor needed to rediscover himself, so he shot his army down and run away into the sunset with his two buddies.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but after that, what happened to him?
ReplyDeleteNothing happen to him. We're suppose to think that he rediscovered himself and recreated his headless fish tank with those two buddies. You know like when a main character from any movie goes off to the sunset and we're suppose to think he found peace, lol.

pobre andre descanse en paz, y el gobernador debio morir como el perro rabioso que es.
ReplyDeleteSo much happened... how can it be unsatisfying? Also very surprised of the lacking of "awesome" votes?!
ReplyDeleteThat was beyond awful. Half of this season was wasted hyping up that final confrontation.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry, but TWD needs to look at other shows, that despite the interest of money, satisfyingly end confrontations they build to. See: Breaking Bad.

It was a let down to see the Governor just walk away!
ReplyDeleteI did like that Carl knew enough to shoot hte kid.
What the fuck was that? I mean, just Dafug?
ReplyDeleteThat the governor is still alive sucks, that andrea died, was really sad and I think that the writers could made so much more of her character, but her storyline has hit the wall - thanks to the writers, she could have just died.
Not finale material
ReplyDeleteTerrible finale, all the damn build-up for nothing, not to mention the writers' stupid decision to kill off Merle for no reason. It seems that they have the least interest in the show and are just looking for stupid excuses to fill up their episodes.
ReplyDeleteThe only good thing out of this was the Governor's survival, although I'm disappointed that the finale wasn't the prison assault we were all waiting from the comics.
ReplyDeleteGo and fuck yourself you wetback.
ReplyDeleteI liked this ep more than a lot of the commenters, but this ep definitely wasn't the best finale after an otherwise great season.
ReplyDeleteThis show has created a few problems for itself:
ReplyDelete- Having time pass between the S2 finale and S3 premiere and allowing characters to get stronger than they were effectively making the walkers less of a threat was a bad move and did not benefit the show long term.
- We only care for about 5 characters the rest are just filler, we need to be invested in them and the ones we aren't interested in (Carol) need to be discarded.
- Merle could have been utilised better
- The Governor's portrayal was a bad move from the series.
ReplyDeleteKilling Andrea was the dumbest and stupidest idea i've ever seen on this show ( besides from keeping Carol alive this long , who has done nothing important, and killing Lori way too early) because she becomes a badass at killing zombies and she's takes a very important role in future events that are really awesome.
imo, she died for nothing, so the writers blew it. big time.
and also, i expected more fight and death between the humans, not this.
i'm actually ok with the governor surviving and coming back for next season.
ReplyDeleteThe only interesting part for me was Carl flipping and then rationalizing it, that kid is dead inside.
Really disappointed.
I had exactly the same problem...I wanted to kill someone, lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you but I think we should see more of the Governor on Season 4. It's a great character who can keep the show alive.
ReplyDeleteHorrible.
ReplyDeleteA few good parts like the Governor killing his own people, Carl becoming ruthless killer and Andrea is dead, yay!
But overall, ridiculously unsatisfying.
I had the exact same problem!
ReplyDeleteIn comparison to season one and two's finale, I think it wasn't as good.
ReplyDeleteOverall, I'd give it a 6/10, or even 7/10 if I'm being generous.
I don't think that's what we're supposed to think. :p I think they want us to be frustrated that they let the most evil man on the planet live so we will be even more satisfied when he's finally killed... Of course, that could go either way if they stretch it out too long.
ReplyDeleteMore people on the show just means more people to feed to the zombies!
ReplyDeleteI'm really disappointed that Andrea isn't the Andrea from the comics, and now never will be. I was hoping for a redemption there. Also, how can she not take on one walker?
ReplyDeleteAlso, the Governor is now officially insane. It will be interesting to see what he comes back as next season! He'll either come back trying to redeem himself, or Woodbury will fill with the worst kind of people like in the comics. I hope it's the latter!
After a seaon of filler episodes which just dragged the storyline on, I guess I shouldn't have raised my hopes so much for the finale :(
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I'm surprised at how many people dislike dthis episode.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe they killed her in yet another major deviation from the comic. (That kid is one fine actor, BTW.)
I am also glad of the huge deviation from the comics Governor-wise, because David Morrissey and the writers have made him a vastly more interesting and nuanced character than he was in the comics (where he reminded me of nothing so much as the typical eye-rolling scenery-chewing nutcake villain nobody could ever trust for a second).
ReplyDeleteLOL. A+
ReplyDeleteExactly the same problem! I was so furious I downloaded another version only to discover it lasted 42 minutes. I wanted to hang myself.
ReplyDeleteYour last sentence sums up my feelings about The Walking Dead right now...
ReplyDeleteThe Governor was my favourite character and the writers managed to fuck him up too. If I were the Governor I would've shot that woman that was lying below a body.
Pretty poor, with writing that was just sloppy. The attack on the prison was ridiculous, and some of the group thinking they'd won and would be fine? Silly.
ReplyDeleteI liked Andrea (despite her being a bit lame) so was sad to see her die - Michonne killed it.
Some things for me just don't sync with how it would've been in reality:
ReplyDelete1.
ReplyDeleteHe seems to be heading towards the comic counterpart - pure evil.
ReplyDeleteI never 'read' the comics, so I don't know who these characters were in it, but I don't exactly want them to follow the comics anyway because in the comics, as I've heard, EVERYONE DIES except Carl. And Daryl, one of the most interesting characters, wasn't even in the comics.
I couldn't have said it better.
ReplyDeleteI just hope there is SOME showdown to give closure about the whole prison vs governor. But it shouldn't go further than mid season finale. There are new, bigger stories to explore and last 8 episodes of season 4 would be the perfect set-up to the Alexandria storyline
I was watching the same link! hahaha nice
ReplyDeleteIm sorry Michael but I really like Carol I think she has real heart and is really grounded, I would hate to see her gone. Im looking forward to seeing where they are going to go especially with the new people, it is going to be hard to look after these lot they are not fighters and are going to be a right pain in the arse. The way young Carl is now he may be taking them out left right and centre unless his Dad sorts him out!
ReplyDeleteIt was awesome right up to the final minutes, what the heck kind of ending was that?? Are we going to have to live thru the governor next season?
ReplyDeleteMy question is if they had all the people from the town, why not just stay there, much better than the prison.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of on Carl's side in this. The kid did not and was not laying down the gun, just getting closer to Carl. The way he was holding the gun it could have been used as a club. I think Carl was spot on. Kid should have done what he was told.
ReplyDeleteI was so sad with Andrea's death.
ReplyDelete1. He didn't see her!
ReplyDelete2.
Haters will hate... It is ridiculous!
I agree with the last paragraph about being gutted about the governor still being around, but I don't think they will go down that route for season 4, I trust them well enough for that
ReplyDeleteCarl was justified shooting that guy. Carl said to put the gun down, the guy didn't and kept creeping closer. Its the same tactic Merle used successfully when he kidnapped Glenn and Maggie.
ReplyDeleteYou exactly pointed out my feelings.
ReplyDeleteYup. Looks that way.
ReplyDeleteI loved it. I cried for Andrea and was shocked at the complete breakdown of the Governor. I can't wait for season 4.
ReplyDeleteYep. He's why I gave the episode an awesome. The look on Hershel's face when he took him out with the homemade silencer and then basically telling Rick what he should do. The transformation of Carl was indeed a good one.
ReplyDeleteToo hard to defend. Like some of the residents began to say, they aren't fighters. They'll kill walkers because they have to but not people. They ended bringing a bus load of people who can't shoot a gun because the Governor had all those and there are only two of them left.
ReplyDeleteThat was my point, only 3 left and one of those is crazy as a loon and they could not beat them?
ReplyDeleteI liked how tptb handled the whole idea of the prison group vs the Governor's group.
ReplyDeleteIn a way I was not surprised by Carl shooting that other boy.
ReplyDeleteWith regards to Andrea getting bit, it was Milton that bit her, not another walker.
I wondered about that last year when they started driving everywhere XD
ReplyDeleteAt least with ammunition at times they have commented about running low or having a limited supply etc...
Even worse than the gas situation is the fact that they are driving around in brand new Hyundais that were made 'after' the outbreak. Who is still running car factories and shipping them from Korea?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he didn't realize she was playing dead.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't the best season finale going, and I was expecting a lot more from the 'final showdown' but I am quite surprised by the level of negativity I am reading. I have a couple of qualms with some of the remarks that are being made. Maybe it's just because I haven't read the comics.
ReplyDeleteFirstly, I am a big fan of The Governor (not that I support his murderous ways, just that he's a compelling character) and I actually wasn't expecting him to die this episode.
ReplyDeleteBut are they really gonna do the Alexandria storyline? Will they move to another filming location? I've been going over the logistics of how they'd do that since the beginning of season three. They'd have to construct an entire community of nice houses, etc., basically a neighborhood. They do have the opportunity to work up to doing it, though. Seeing as how they were on the road for a while between meeting Abraham, Maria and Eugene and joining them on their way to D.C.
ReplyDeleteIt's really sad to see "poorly conceived character" as a description when they had an amazing character in the comics to draw from. I'd been suspecting for the last half of the season they were working up to Andrea's being killed. It made me sad. Because Laurie Holden would've been amazing as the comic!Andrea.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't realize she wasn't dead. She held her breath and laid still.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually like 28 Days Later. They only think it's the whole world that's crumbled. It's actually just the US. They'll see a British Airways plane fly over sooner or later and realize what's up.
ReplyDelete1. He didn't save a bullet! His clip ran out! He figured she was dead, so just left! Rewatch the episode.
ReplyDeleteCarl was also responsible for not only Hershel and Beth's lives but his baby sister's. After what he had to do to help bring that kid into the world, it's not surprising he's going to do whatever it takes to protect her from harm. You can't trust anyone in this world now. Esp. not someone from a group of people who rolled up with military issue weaponry fixing to kill you and everyone you know.
ReplyDeleteCarl isn't the only character alive in the comics. I mean, he's a tough kid in the comics - at 8 years old even - but he's not the only one around.
ReplyDeleteI meant at the very end of the comics. I'd heard he was the only one amongst the group to survive.
ReplyDeletehere. proof that what I'm saying is true :D Hope y'all enjoy it as much as I did
