Eh, it was okay. Too much convenient plotting for my liking, more so than last week. And it didn't have a saving grace this time with a powerful last scene. Ice Warriors are quite alien without their armor though. Voted ok. :)
Not going to be my favourite but it was good. It is interesting to see the Doctor and Clara with people who aren't british. Did anyone else notice the doctor is suicidal? And he is the one touching Clara, the hand on the neck surprised me. Wouldn't call it romantic though but there is something.
It was a good 'filler' episode, very typical Doctor Who, the middle episodes are never ever as good as the season openers and final episodes anyway. It was good, very creepy in some places to!
anyone else thinking these first few episodes plots are strikingly similar to Amy's beginning episodes? It might of always been that way with other companions, and I did just not notice it.
Yea, I have noticed the trend to. They tend to go an opening episode with a new companion, do a few stand alone episodes, have a two parter / Capt Jack / River Song episode/s then a few more stand alones then a two part final. Its been this way for as long as I can remember
Why does she have to be so damn cute? It's hard not to ship her and 11. And lets face it, this show has never done romance well. Ever! So whenever he gets a new companion it's easier to imagine there not being a romantic connection because the Doctor, for some odd reason, goes out of his way to make sure there isn't one.
But Clara is getting under his skin in a way that I've never seen another companion do. The Doctor always got his companions very easily, they jumped at the chance for adventure, but he had to work to get Clara. He traveled across time to find her, and when he finally did she didn't run away with him immediately like the others. He had to fight for her, and of course there's the mystery of exactly how she keeps existing through time.
They really are pushing the two of them together even more than they did with Rose, and it's a lot more fun to watch.
I love the mystery of Clara... just wish he'd spend more time actually doing something about investigating it. And I like this episode way more than last week which was somewhat lacking IMO.
Oh and I have to say... Liam Cunningham is an awesome actor!
Compared to the episode before I really enjoyed this episode. Might be cause of seeing familiar faces like Davos (Liam Cunningham) and Brutus (Tobias Menzies).
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed it! So far this half of the season has really pleased me, I think getting a new companion has made it fresh again.

Boring filler.

ReplyDeleteNot bad, but I wasn't expecting much from a Gatiss episode anyway. Next week's looks really good!
