“WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?” RETURNS TO TELEVISION AS PART OF THE CW’S SUMMER 2013 SCHEDULE

Hosted by Aisha Tyler and Featuring the Return of
Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie

March 1, 2013 (Burbank, California) ─ The CW is going for laughs this summer by ordering a new take on the hit improvisational comedy series, WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?, hosted by comedian Aisha Tyler (“The Talk”), it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. Premiere information will be announced at a later time.

The CW’s WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? features the return of Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie, who along with a special guest each episode, must put their comedic skills to the test through a series of spontaneous improv games. Prompted only by random ideas supplied by the studio audience and host Aisha Tyler, our four performers must use the little information they have and their wild imaginations to depict different characters and an array of scenes, as well as perform songs. After each round of improvisation, Aisha will dole out points to our four performers and declare a winner at the end of every episode.

Based on the wildly successful U.K. format, which also spawned a previous incarnation in the US that ran for eight seasons on ABC, WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? is executive produced by Dan Patterson, Mark Leveson, Jimmy Mulville, Ryan Stiles and Wayne Brady. Co-created by Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson, WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? is from Angst Productions and Hat Trick Productions.

  1. CW finally gets a decent show. Whose line has been part of my TV watching ways since I was a kid and watched the UK version. Hope this latest one sticks the the high standards of the others.

  2. I LOVE this news! Love the show - and I'll miss Drew Carey - but so glad to see the core cast back. Hope they get most of the "regular" guests they had before too. I was lucky enough to see a couple of live shows too when they were touring with it. If you haven't watched, you definitely want to! This show is HYSTERICAL!

  3. Awesome. I discovered the show about 2 months ago and I'm so glad I did. Ryan Stiles is awesome and so are Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie.
Can't wait to see more Colin/Ryan team sketches. They're like a well oiled machine!

Interesting to see Aisha Tyler to be the host. LANAAA!!! :D

  6. So happy to hear this! Love this show and so glad the original cast is back except Drew of course. Hopefully he'll make a guest appearance.

  7. Like brand new episodes? Sweet Jesus this is one of the greatest things I've ever heard. Whose Line still stands as one of the most hilarious things that has ever graced TV. While I'll miss Drew as he eventually found where he was funny, Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie, and Wayne Brady made the show. Can this start say... tomorrow?

  8. I hope it doesn't tarnish the respect i have for the original series. Having some of the original comedians back is good but I will miss Drew. I look forward to this.

  10. This is the last network I'd expect this program to return to. Well, maybe it will bring some viewers to the network that wouldn't normally tune in.

  11. This could possibly be like the...best...news...EVER!! I love Aisha Tyler because of Ghost Whisperer and just having Ryan, Collin, and Wayne back is amazing too! Now, just let Brad, Chip, Jeff, George, and Kathy Greenwood and I'll be happy beyond belief! Yeah, I've been a fan of the show for far too long...

  13. I don't know what I'm more surprised by that it's on the CW or that the original cast is going to be on it. I checked the calendar and it is March 1 not April 1, so wow. Interesting move, CW. I always thought it was funny.

  14. Yes!! So excited! I still watch the original US series on youtube quite often. Been watching the show online and on TV for 8 years now. So hilarious. It's perfect that Ryan, Colin, and Wayne will all be back on it. I've been wishing for the show to return with them on it. :D

I really hope it does well on the CW.

  15. I used to tape the ABC Family reruns then watch them over the weekend while doing my homework. Like Friends and The Big Bang Theory, this show made me laugh from start to finish. I'm so glad it's coming back that I don't even care that it's on The CW. Bummed that Drew won't be back as host but I'm interested to see Alisha's comedy/improv chops. Colin and one of the frequent guys (Brad, I think) came to my college one year for the Homecoming weekend show. So much fun! I hope this new take has all the games from the original. Especially Scenes from a Hat and Hoedown.
