In this season finale, Neal and Peter are one heist away from retrieving the evidence box hidden inside the Empire State Building. Meanwhile, Senator Pratt enlisted a small army of FBI agents to find the box before Neal.
Let me say this straight from the get go, this is not the best finale of White Collar (its hard to top the season 2 finale) but that does not mean it is not an amazing episode. All of the characters we love all play a part in the big set piece building up to the Empire state building.
This episode is all about Neal and his many relationships. We see his relationships with his friends, the FBI, his family and mainly his appreciation and love for Peter. We finally see Neal showing his true feelings and appreciation for Peter. Neal really shows his true feelings in one scene and shows something Neal very rarely admits out loud, Peter is a father to him.
The Peter and Neal dynamic is the main relationship of the show and both actors really put in a great performance showing their close bond. We also get a great scene between Neal and Sara hinted at by the actors many months ago and is a great yet heartbreaking scene showing what could be and what was.
As usual the season finale is the big payoff to the season long arc, which I personally have not been the biggest fan of but it really does leave an amazing opportunity for next season. White Collar always has the best season cliffhangers and this seasons is no exception. If the writers stick to their guns and stretch this cliffhanger out over the first half of the next season it could truly be some interesting television.
Obviously I can not say to much without spoiling it but the final 15 minutes will have you on the edge of your seat. However because we are a spoiler site, below are 6 spoilers and quotes. 4 are true, 2 are lies. Discuss below what you think.
- All of the previous finales are referenced in a fun way
- One of the main cast will not survive the experience

- "In this life somebody always takes a fall, don't let it be you"

- "I didn't want to shoot him"
