20 Mar 2013

Welcome to the White Collar Season 4 Best Episode contest. All episodes have been ranked and the contest will run just like the NCAA basketball tournament. Every night new polls will be posted. Polls will remain open until 7:00 pm CST. The winner of each poll advances to the next round until we determine the overall winner. Along the way I hope we will have great conversations about the season as a whole and what we hope to see next season. Comments do make the contest more fun so don't forget to say what you voted for and why. Happy voting!

Below is a link to the episode synopses in case you forgot what an episode is about:

  1. Today's polls are very easy for me.

    1. In the Wind - the finale was definitely memorable and while Brass Tacks had its moments, it can't compare to Peter being arrested for murder.

    2. Empire City - two words = June sings. Plus I like the case of the week better than Vested Interest. The characters were far more memorable to me.

    3. Most Wanted - one of my favorite episodes. I love how they found a way to get Neal back to New York but there were still consequences. Mostly though I loved having Neal, Peter, and Mozzie working together with the island locals. I also hated Ellen dying so that always tempers Parting Shots' appeal to me.

    4. Shoot the Moon - This poll is the battle of the guest stars to me. While I loved Michael Weston as David Cook, the character was pretty run of the mill for White Collar. In the end I liked the thieving star-crossed lovers better so they get my vote. Plus Shoot the Moon had more Elizabeth.

  2. As long as I get to watch Neal & Peter, it's all good! Loved tje finale. Neal will disvover tjere is so much more to himself than he ever believed.

  3. I agree with each, except for Most Wanted beating Parting Shots

  4. I voted but forgot to comment :) I am doing it right now!

    1. In the Wind all the way!!! One of the best season's finale of WC, second only to the S1 finale IMHO!
    2. Empire City: an episode with a different vibe, and June singing as a plus! Besides, I didn't like Vested Interest (I am only saving the part where Neal and Peter were at the FBI Panel discussing their working/personal relationship and trust). For the rest, I am still thinking that compared to the rest of the episodes, it was a weak one.
    3. Here it was a little bit difficult to choose, but in the end I went for Most Wanted: I like it so much when there is an explanation of a plan while in the meanwhile you see how the plan is working out!!

    4. Again, a bit difficult to choose because both episodes had Neal/Sara in it. But in the end I picked Shoot the Moon, because I loved the case of the week more and the moment that Neal and Sara shared on Neal's house balcony was very very sweet (when he told her that he hoped she got the job not because he wanted her to leave, but because he wanted her to be happy!)

  5. I hope Neal gains some self-confidence and realizes that his dad's choices are not his. I worry about Neal tail spinning after they get Peter out of this.

  6. I liked the crime of the week in Parting Shots. The woman who played the widow did a great job. Still there was Ellen dying in that one and I am still not over that. Ellen was one of my favorite recurring characters and I wanted her to stay a lot longer. Plus I am a sucker for Peter and Mozzie working together to save Neal.

  7. Glad you came back to comment. It makes things a lot more fun. I agree with your feelings about Vested Interest, plus I like when they play with the format a little and having June sing as part of the case was a real plus for Empire City.

  8. I liked Ellen getting shot, not because I disliked the character but it was a great moment. I disliked all the stuff that happened outside of New York.

  9. We seem to have opposite tastes which makes for great conversation. I thought that Ellen should have remained for a longer time although I figured she would die before revealing all the secrets. What was it about the island that you particularly disliked?

  10. There are just some shows where the setting plays such a big part that when you take the characters out of it, it just doesn't feel right.
