  1. Walter, his actions are what set all of the show in motion - he experimented on Olivia which had a huge impact on her life, he took Peter from the other universe which of course changed his fate and caused a rift in the two universes. His transformation from borderline 'evil' scientist, to crazy trapped in a mental institution old man and then eventually into a loving father who wanted to help the world and his family is just so great. I think he got the best arc because even with all the different timelines he still had to find redemption, his sins always followed him.

  2. Honestly, I love every characters' story arc, because I think that they all had come a long, satisfying and logical way in the course of the five seasons, and because they are all unique in their own way, but also have certain similarities with each other that make them lean on each other and confide in each other (depends on the character and situation, of course, but I think you can find that someone for every character on the show).

To me, the best arc is of the main three characters, I honestly can't imagine Fringe as a show without their dynamic and the way they are intertwined through the past, present and future, but if I had to choose, it would be Walter - and he is probably the most polished character on the show. But mostly, I would choose him because he is really unlike any character I have ever seen, a unique and special character that makes the show special, and that credit goes to magnificent John Noble - he still amazes me everty time I watch the show.

And yep, now I miss them even more...

  3. I went with Olivia, but Walter and Peter are just as compelling

  4. Of the main ones, definitely Walter.

I hadn't considered the Donald option though. To me, the whole show is about his journey. He's the only character that knows about everything that happened. He was sent to the past to observe our heroes, and instead of using that information to help the Invaders, he learned how to be a father when he watched Peter and Walter. He went from an emotionless human being to someone who could love, and that's all a result of the way our main three interacted. So really, it was all about teaching September how to love. It's brilliant and it's completely full circle and in line with the show's main themes.

  11. Walter. We first saw him in an insane asylum, and he seemed to really belong there. Then he returned to sanity and finally, sacrificed himself.

  12. Are you kidding? "I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds". "My son is going to be responsible for the end of the world". Probably the best character on TV ever.

    Donald-September for the 2nd place.

  13. Damn I wish I was in an alternate universe, just discovering Fringe for the first time on box sets I would not sleep for like 5 days. There will be nothing like Fringe again

  19. I feel like so many of the arcs where simultaneously intertwined that it's hard to look at just one character for an arch. With that being said I would probably say Walter and Peter's arcs, which are furthered by September's, are really the best, as it became about all three of them bettering themselves for the sake of a better future for their children.

Olivia's arcs where always interesting, whether contrasted with her counterparts, NIna, Ella, and/or Etta, but I do feel like that she kind of got the bum-rap because it was harder to understand what her arc really was, or what it really means, except to say she was able to become a better mother and have some faith in something bigger than herself, as the situation with the Observers forced her to combine motherhood with her work ethic.

After that I would say Astrid and Walter arcs where also good. I think she really helped him stay on track.

  20. I definitely think that's true, although there are things we don't know, such was Walter really driving Walter to be Walter (who created the viewing device?), or was it William Bell? And there is the fact that September distracted Walternate, saved Peter and Walter's life, tells Walter at first he must return Peter and then turns around and tells him not to...I think really the scope is a lot "bigger" than the story we saw, but know doubt Walter was the emotional drive and he and September the one's that felt they had to push for change/redemption.

Walter. I'm waiting for this season to come out but I didn't know it was the series finale, the show had a great storyline to it.

  22. What happened to the Science channel replaying Fringe? It started, and then just stopped. It's definitely better than what they're showing now.

  23. This poll is kinda of unfair since Astrid, Broyles, Nina and occasionally Peter didn't have well written story arcs. Walter and Olivia did.

  24. You and me both!

  25. Fringe will be back on TSC on April 13th for a season 3 marathon! I hope its not just for S3?

  26. I'd say it's either Walter or Olivia. Walter had an amazing character arc through all the seasons, going through severe changed thanks to his relationship with Peter and Olivia, becoming a man who could redime for the crimes he committed and that's defenitely beautiful. But I had to vote for Olivia because it was really heartwarming to see her finally achieving peace in the finale, when she looked at Peter and Etta at the park, and she finally had everything she never though she could have; she transformed from this cold blooded FBI agent to a loving wife and mother, one that could finally sincerely smile. Her journey was defenitely heartbreaking and it made me shed some tears. Both Walter and Olivia deserve to be voted, but for some reason my heart goes for Olivia.
As for Peter, he also had a good journey, a very good one, Walter and Olivia are in a whole different level
