Nothing on the list stands out immediately because there's far too much stuff you'd have to simplify or cut out completely in order to make it into a movie.
I love a lot of shows on the list and I think it would great if we got to see them in cinemas, but mostly it feels like there would be just so many things missing in them, so many unfinished stories and lost opportunities that I'm not sure if that's the best idea.
A lot of these shows are amongst my abselute favorites, but it is difficult to see them as a movie. I like that Breaking Bad takes it´s time to tell Walter White´s story. No rush. Game of Thrones would have to cut half of it´s cast away for a movie and there is not one single person I would do without. Maybe The walking Dead would be the best pick for a movie.
Agree with what others are saying: the shows on the list are series, and series plotlines have taken time to evolve. I'd like to suggest The Killing or American Horror Story, because these shows present a brand-new plot every season.
Last Resort sounds like they had a great idea for a film and decided to try and make it into a series instead. Bad move.
The others on that list would have made rubbish films. I wouldn't choose The Walking Dead. There are any number of Zombie movies out there, and a TWD movie wouldn't have really had anything new to say. I love it *because* it's a Zombie TV series.
I think a condensed version of 666 Park Avenue might have made for an interesting film.
None of them were of interest, but I'd watch a Supernatural movie. If they a decent budget to work with, there's nothing that show couldn't do. They have a cult following like Star Trek.
I'd say The Walking Dead. The rest have too much story to tell to be told in 2 hours or so. The Walking Dead is the only one I could see being able to be shaped to fit into that amount of time. Cut a few characters and story lines out and it could definitely work.
I remember when the X-Files was a hot show and they produced a movie that picked up the myth arc where the season ended and then the movie left off for the new season to begin. Because I was a fan of the show, I thought it was brilliant. (Rob Bowman directed the movie and he's executive producer of Castle. Also Vince Gilligan was Exec Prod of X-Files TV and he created Breaking Bad. You can't keep the talented down.)
I voted Once because the original idea of the show, particularly the whole of season 1, would really pass the test as a movie. While s1 was absolutely brilliant, season 2 lacks that solid core and is falling apart in my opinion.
Lost by far. Come on people, have you seen a movie? Supernatural? Once Upon a Time? Please. The production value and the grand scale of the scenes point to Lost, Game of Thrones, and possibly Homeland.
I initially thought of The Walking Dead, but one of the reasons I like the show is that its not a movie and therefore isn't going to end in 2 hours. Lost, there's too much going on there.
The 2 best shows in my opinion for a movie would be Fringe and/or Person of Interest.
While I didn't watch either show, the series promos for Last Resort and Missing gave me the impression that their plots were better suited for a movie. Specifically on Missing. Couldn't really figure out how either go after season 1. Then again I thought the same of Revenge and it's now in season 2. Guess it's a good thing I don't write for TV.
I agree on Once and POI. While I don't watch POI, I could tell from the promos that it could go a while with just the machine throwing out numbers. Not sure how it would be a movie.
Most of the shows have way to much going on to fit into two hours. I think they could do OUAT easily tho, the pilot alone could be a movie, with Emma coming along in the last 30 minutes to kill the evil queen and put the characters back in FTL
OUAT always feels like a movie each week, especially "Hat Trick" and "The Outsider". Well, "Child Of The Moon", "True North", "Dreamy", and "Red-Handed" too. And Pilot too of course.
I agree. Chuck with a movie-size budget would be an awesome spy movie, with comedy and heart and well. And Jeffster would have their most epic performance ever. #ChuckMovie!
Last Resort or Homeland. The rest don't make sense as movies. Once, Lost, Fringe and Walking dead would be terrible movies because too much would have to be cut out. Can't decide about Game of Thrones.
As much as The Walking Dead seems appealing, the fact that it is a TV series and not a movie is what makes it what it is. The character development is the highlight of the show, and a movie would completely fail in the sense it would be too short to see that kind of development.
I chose Once Upon a Time because , at the end of season 1, I had no idea how they would make more then 2 more seasons of the show. Since it would be able to show a story arc of defeating the evil witch and they go back to the Enchanted Forest, the story line would make more sense without being rushed.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteProbably The Walking Dead would be my first pick. The other ones just don't fit in the two hours story.

Once upon a time for me. Even if the story is so complicated it could need a saga.... :-)

ReplyDeleteSame here. It's the only one I can see making sense in a two-hour movie.
ReplyDeleteLast Resort.
ReplyDeleteI agree! It's the only one that jumped out at me that could possibly fit.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Everything else on the list presents as a series.
ReplyDeleteDepends on if its a series of movies or just one., If it's just one I'd homeland or walking dead. If it's a saga of movies, Once or Game of Thrones
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest for sure.
ReplyDeleteWhere the heck is Supernatural?!
ReplyDeleteOf course i said Fringe. It might not be the best plot but i'd do anything to see Walter and gang once again. Oh and September too!
ReplyDeleteMy other choice is Person Of Interest.
Last Resort sounds like they had a great idea for a film and decided to try and make it into a series instead. Bad move.

ReplyDeleteL word
ReplyDeleteI chose Walking Dead because I love apocalypse and zombies. However, I think Fringe would work best as a movie. It would be great.
ReplyDeleteIt really kinda is. It has come to the point I don't think I'd grieve that much over the show ending.
ReplyDeleteI think Fringe would work well as a movie. I don't watch Homeland, but, doesn't it seem like a show that could be a movie?
ReplyDeleteThe Following. Can you imagine a multiple season arc (like 5+?). I can't. There's only so much Joe Carroll can do.
ReplyDeleteActually, that's the best idea I've heard yet. It's true. I like the show a lot, but they can only go so far with the plot.
ReplyDeleteChuck!
ReplyDeleteEvery Once Upon a Time episode is a Fairy Tale Mashed Up movie!~~~
ReplyDeleteAgree!
