THE VAMPIRE DIARIES — (8:00–9:00 p.m. ET)
“American Gothic” (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

RACE FOR THE CURE — Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) take off in search of Katherine (also played by Nina Dobrev) and find themselves in a small town in Pennsylvania, where Elena has a surprising encounter with another old acquaintance -- Elijah (guest star Daniel Gillies).  Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) are both concerned about Elena’s state of mind and are determined to do what’s best for her, but she makes it clear that helping her will be difficult.  Damon is not sure how to react when Stefan reveals his unexpected plan for the future.  Meanwhile, in Mystic Falls, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) receives Caroline’s (Candice Accola) reluctant help and comes to a new understanding of Silas’ powers.  Kellie Cyrus directed the episode written by Evan Bleiweiss & Jose Molina (#418).

  1. I'm guessing Silas kicks Klaus's ass in the previous episode.

  2. Can someone take the damn cure so we can finally move on?!

My guess is that Stefan's plan for the future is to take the cure himself. As for Klaus, maybe he realizes that Silas raising the "dead" also includes his family.
I'm curious about Elena and Elijah interacting.

  3. That's what I'm thinking. It was only a matter of time before Silas knocked Klaus around and gave him a good wake-up call.

  4. Just my two cents but any vampire still willing to keep the cure for themselves, knowing it's the only way to kill Silas, is a selfish ass who is putting everyone they know in danger.

  5. If they're worried about Elena's state of mind, she must have flipped the switch back. But, on the bright side, an Elena / Rebekah road trip!

  6. I wholeheartedly agree. But I still won't be surprised if someone goes down that road.

  7. Point taken. Just like with all the big plans on this show, there's always someone who ends up screwing things up for everyone else.

  8. I wish they wouldn't stop pushing Klaroline to happen. I understand that the fandom is quite vocal (enough to make JP believe in it) but from my perspective it doesn't suit Klaus to have any love interest, it's out of character. His fascination and weakness for Caroline is just ridiculous, and if he wanted her so bad, why not just go down the 'compelling her' route which is more Klaus' style. (I hope the Klaus getting some action isn't with Caroline, I'll be done with this show).

  9. elena/elijah action - YAY! i missed him a lot! ;)

  10. Agree on the cure part

  11. Elena and Becca? It's not surprising me that they get along now. Elena turned off her humanity, so she doesn't care anymore that Becca killed her and Alaric. And was mocking about it.

I agree. I think KC could have worked if it was written in a different way but right now the storyline is just ridiuclous.

  13. Agree. This whole Klaroline thing makes no sense. I thought I was the only one using my brain and realize that. I think, JP is ruining Carolines character by this. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind Klaus having someone. And I think, he would be in a better mood, if he would just get laid. But Caroline turned into a complete hypocrite.
Yes!!!! That's exactly what I'm saying all along! He doesn't care or love (he's not capable of), so it makes no sense that he has such a weakness for Caroline. Although I understand, why he's so fascinated by her. She's pretty and strong (or at least was till she started to fall for him), optimistic and self-confident. And the other point that makes no sense is, that he always uses threats, blackmail or compulsion to get what he wants. So it makes no sense why he's not compelling Caroline to get her in his bed. It wouldn't be the first time in the last 1000 years, would it? After that he can even compel her to forget. He can compel her to fall in love with him. Why doesn’t he? Makes no sense. I mean, he wasn't hesitating daggering and killing his own family. And now he can't even compel poor little Caroline to sleep with him?
Oh, honey, I'm so with you. I'll probably stop watching too if Caroline goes to bed with Klaus. That is why I think (almost hope) he'll compel her. Cause it would be the only way for me to forgive her. And it's the only way it makes sense.

  14. I don't think they will bring her back so soon. Probably not till the end of the season. I think, they are just worried, cause Elena is out of control. I think, she will be like Katerina and Klaus. Isn't that reason to worry? To be really really afraid?
Well, I think, Elena and Becca together will be very interesting. They will probably have lot of fun. Think, they gonna talk about the Salvatores?

  15. "I don't think they will bring her back so soon. Probably not till the end of the season. I think, they are just worried, cause Elena is out ofcontrol."

If that's true then it's poor wording on their part. It should have said that they're worried about her intentions, not her state of mind. I'm not so sure she didn't flip the switch anyway. I have a hard time believing that an Elena with no humanity gives a damn about a vampire cure.

  16. She still could be unstable. Remember the promo for the next ep. She's attacking people in daylight, close to others. She can be seen. "State of mind" could mean, that she doesn’t care about anything. Or maybe they mean, that the brothers want to bring her back and are afraid, she would break again. Possible. The third possibility is, that Damon tries to bring her humanity back step by step, so she can process it slowly and controlled.
She doesn’t (give a damn about the cure). I think, if she goes after Katerina, it's because she wants to kill her. And she probably promised Becca the cure if she helps her.

  17. "She still could be unstable."
Unstable? No. Unwilling to play nice and cooperate? Sure.

"Remember the promo for the next ep. She's attacking people in daylight, close to others. She can be seen.
That's two episodes before the events of this synopsis. For TVD, that's a lifetime.

"State of mind could mean, that she doesn’t care about anything."
And if she doesn't care about anything she's not going to waste her time going on a cure hunt.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I meant with unstable, that she won't be able to control her impulses. She could snap.

Unwilling to cooperate. Definitely. Oh, I can't wait to see that side of Elena.

2 eps is not a lifetime in TVD. Well, it depends. Sometimes within one or two eps can happen so much it really seems like an lifetime. But sometimes, two or three eps can pass without anything important happening.

Exactly. She's not hunting for the cure, she's hunting for Katerina.

  19. Why on Earth would Elena waste her time hunting down Katherine if it wasn't about the cure?

  20. Jeremy? Just cause she turned off her humanity, it doesn't mean she doesn't care that that bitch killed her brother. She may not be breaking down with pain and sorrow, but maybe she can still think "The bitch is going away with this"

  21. Bruce_F, can I ask who you are? :D I'm just curious, that's all... because I saw that you're always comment something and write things (which makes me think that you are an insider of TVD)...

  22. Hi, Klaus. I'm just an observant viewer. I have no ties to the show and I don't have any access to info that isn't available to the general public. Sorry if I come off like a know-it-all. I promise that it's not my intention. :)

  23. Looking forward to that.

  24. Thanks the answer :) As I wrote, I was just curious :)

  25. I think bekah will set Elena up with Elijah now THAT would be interesting ;-)

  26. How did you mean "set up"? As in setting a trap for Elena? Or as in hooking them up?

Why would she do either of it? I think, Becca and Elena have an agreement. They work together to find Katerina. When they do, Becca gets the cure and Elena gets Katerinas head.

  27. First of all Klaus is (at least for now) the most powerfull creature in the TVD World ... so he thinks in different way than we. Time for him has no meaning. He daggered his siblings, but he did not kill them. He is twisted, but not without feelings. I think that his emotions are so strong, that he cannot control them and he is ashamed of it so he is turning into a monster every time when he feels weak because of his feelings. He was really hurt, I think, much more than anyone else. He was the child from a romance, so his father hated him and his mother cursed him. How destroying can that be? I cannot even imagine. Most of the psychologists can say that childhood has the greatest influence on the person.

Let's look into Klaroline situation. Klaus has a time. In one of episodes he said that Caroline is not ready to admitt that she wants travel, experience things and she is not ready to be with him, but maybe in the next century. And here we are. When Klaus wants something really bad and it is urgent he doesn't care about means - he compels, kills whatsoever. But he wants to be loved... not because of compelling. He wants it to be real. And he has so many ages to do that. Now, he gives some time to Tyler and Caroline relation to weakened and then he will be closer and closer to her. He is a real guy, a hunter. For him the game with Caroline is fascinating. And he is from old times, he has something from a gentleman.

  28. Okay, you do have a point about him turning into a monster when he thinks he's weakened by his feelings. But I wonder, if he is capable of feeling things like love and care, why isn't he using this feelings to bind his family to him instead of threats and daggers. True, he "just" daggered his siblings. But he killed his mother twice and his father. Okay, you're right. He had a fucked up childhood. If his "father" knew or just suspected that Klaus is not his son we don't know. But it's no excuse for what he does now. Many people (I know or knew) were going thru a lot of shit. Even me, you probably too. And some of them may be assholes, but none of them turned into a psychopath. I hate it when people think it's an excuse for how he is now. "Poor thing, he had a hard time when he was a kid" "Poor Klaus, his father never loved him". He choose to be like this. And as for his mother cursing him and suppressing his wolf side. I think she was afraid he might become what he is now. You know what they say about power. It corrupts.

"He wants it to be real" I believe it and I get it. But why now, all of a sudden? "He wants to be loved"? Then why did he treat his family the way that they had to hate him? That is where it makes no sense to me. He wants Caroline to love him and trust him and be with him willingly? And he doesn't force her cause they have time? Then why did he treat his own family like that? He didn't care that he traded Becca like shit, like she was his slave and she only stayed with him cause she was afraid, knowing what he would do if she leaves him. And if any of his siblings disagreed with him, he didn't take the time (and time is all they have) to sort things out, no, he puts a dagger thru their hearts and locks them away for decades or even centuries. And still expects them to love and worship him like a god? That is why it makes no sense to me, why he treats Caroline so differently. Why he is taking time to change her mind? And can he? As long as he kills her friends I doubt that.
