NBC has found its spy guy.
After fielding multiple offers this pilot season, James Spader has been tapped to star in the network's psychological drama thriller The Blacklist, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The pilot revolves around Raymond "Red" Reddington, the world's most-wanted criminal who mysteriously turns himself in and offers to give up everyone he has ever worked with. His only condition is he will only work with a newly minted FBI agent Liz Keen (Blue Bloods' Megan Boone) with whom he seemingly has no connection.
Spader will play Red, who is described as a dignified, worldly and magnetic former Army intelligence offer who went AWOL. He doesn't consider himself to be a spy but instead a facilitator, who brokers deals for criminals and has no allegiance to any country or political agenda -- only the highest bidder.

Was this the role that was rumoured to have been offered to Kiefer Sutherland?
ReplyDeleteNot gonna lie, much as I like James Spader.... I would have watched this if Kiefer Sutherland got the role. Now I'm not so sure, it depends if I hear good things about it.
ReplyDeleteActually it sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI like James Spader and I liked Megan Boone in Blue Bloods. I also find the premise interesting so I'm certainly going to give it a look and am hopeful it'll be good... suppose it depends more on the writing/plot and what the twist will be whether it succeeds or not.
ReplyDeleteActually sounds decent, and with Spader in it will have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteIf this makes it to TV I will definitely war h it to see James Spader.
ReplyDeleteThank god it's not Kiefer!
ReplyDeleteNow, with Mr. Spader involved I may watch this!
Yeah. That was the rumor.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd give this a shot with either. I like the idea for this pilot more than most this season.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for espionage based shows so I would check this out no matter who the lead is....
ReplyDeleteSpader being cast instead of Sutherland does make me happy though. Recently I find Sutherland to be such a dominant personality that every one of his roles feels the same, unlike Spader who has more versatility.

Yeah, we agree on this. I'm picturing more of a quiet, subversive type for this role and that's not something I'd readily associate with Sutherland's skill set.
sos el mejor, James. I love
