Also, a small reminder: the article is created as a fun way to share with all of you our favorite moments of the week and to read about yours, maybe even to recommend someone a new show worth watching. And the poll is simply to see how many people out there also liked the same scene as you did. THIS IS NOT A CONTEST. THERE ARE NO WINNERS. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. We welcome relevant, respectful comments.
My choices this week are (in the alphabetical order):
Show: HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
Episode: “The Time Travelers”
Date: March 25, 2013
Actors: Josh Radnor
The Scene: Ted’s speech to “the Mother”
I usually choose my favorite moments at the end of the week, after watching all the new episodes of my shows, but in this case, I knew it was definitely going to be my scene of the week the moment I’ve seen it. The scene was completely unexpected and its seriousness even more so, especially after the fun beginning of the episode. I always knew Josh Radnor is a very talented actor, but he was pretty perfect in this part. Ted’s incredibly moving speech just melted my heart. And all it took was just one actor and beautifully written monologue, no special effects, scenery or other things that can make a scene great. Pure declaration of love and deep sadness from the show’s hero made me really think of the reason Ted decided to tell his kids this story in the first place.
I always assumed it was just his passion for storytelling, but now I’m starting to worry it’s more than that. There’s just something about his speech that makes you think his love may be dead in the future and he’s regretting every second he didn’t get to spend with her. Of course, it might just be Ted being emotional (like he can be) and just tired of his loneliness, but what if …
Anyway, whatever things will turn out to be, it is a stunning scene that without a doubt deserves a huge recognition. Beautifully done, everyone!
NOTE: The scene was also picked by klutzy girl and Babar Suhail as Scene Of The Week!
2. Show: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
Episode: “American Gothic”
Date: March 28, 2013
Actors: Nina Dobrev, Daniel Gillies
The Scene: Katherine giving Elijah the cure
To trust Katherine Pierce is a very hard thing to do, almost impossible to be honest. It certainly requires a big leap of faith and the strength to take responsibility for the consequences that it can bring. Like she admits in this scene, Katherine is running and fighting to survive for so long that it’s hard even for her to see the difference between the truth and the lies and to remember a girl she once was. But even after all the horrible things she has done (Jeremy!), there’s just something so powerful about her character, that makes me want to give her a second chance. Maybe, it’s because I have always found her story a very moving one, from an innocent girl who first lost a child and then her entire family to a broken person who only knew how to lie and care only about herself. Or maybe, it’s just me believing in second chances. I’m not sure. I just know, I very much wish she WAS being honest with Elijah and she actually wants to change. And that’s why she’s trusting him with the cure. But I’m afraid that even if that was indeed the case here, I’m not seeing things ending well for her. That’s not how the show works, right? Just the heartbreaking tragedies at every corner...
I have to admit, I really missed Elijah on the show. He’s definitely one of my absolute favorites, so maybe with him around, I’d be willing to watch the show more regularly. Daniel Gillies and Nina Dobrev were fantastic in the scene (and the episode!). The hesitation, the conflict and all the other emotions of their character were beautifully portrayed by the two. Great work!
NOTE: The scene was also picked by Jamie Coudeville as Scene Of The Week!

FROM BABAR SUHAIL
How I Met Your Mother, “The Time Travelers”, March 25, 2013, Actors: Jayma Mays, Josh Radnor
The Scene: Twenty-months-from-now Coat Check Girls tell Ted how it would end between them if she and Ted started dating. I loved Jayma Mays's acting in that scene, she was hilarious. And Ted's expression when he is looking at the present-day Coat Check Girl and letting her leave the bar were also great.
Grey’s Anatomy, “Can’t Fight This Feeling”, March 28, 2013, Actors: Ellen Pompeo, Sarah Chalke

The Scene: April confiding in Jackson about the patient she just lost. It was sweet and tender and they almost kissed. Shows they still are into each other
FROM JIMMY RYAN
Castle, “The Wild Rover”, March 25, 2013, Actors: Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic
The Scene: The closing scene where Castle reveals to Kate that he cheated by paying someone to write a paper for him in boarding school. In this scene Castle bares all. Writing is what has made him who he is now, it's what's made him rich and famous, and it's what led him to Kate, Brilliantly acted by Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion as well. Of course, following this scene we see Det. Ryan's wife, Jenny, reveal to Ryan that she is pregnant.
Scandal, “Snake in the Garden”, March 28, 2013, Actors: Bellamy Young, Tony Goldwyn
The Scene: Thursday's episode was sensational. The dynamics and relationships between all the characters in this show swing constantly, and this episode was no different. There were many scenes that were excellent, but for me the standout scene was Mellie going ballistic at Fitz about his fathering, and how his children were pleading with Millie to cancel their trip to the White House because they didn't want to see their father. Mellie goes even further, by telling Fitz that he has turned into his father, a man who Fitz loathes, as we saw in flashbacks earlier in the season. This scene is one of the best in the series, without a doubt, and there will be plenty more to come in the final 6 episodes of the season.
NOTE: The scene was also picked by Spartigus15 as Scene Of The Week!
FROM CINDY KONG
The Neighbors, “It Has Begun…”, March 27, 2013, Actors: Clara Mamet, Tim Jo
The Scene: Amber and Reggie's first kiss. "Wow, two tongues?"
FROM JAMIE COUDEVILLE
Revenge, “Victory”, March 24, 2013, Actors: Emily VanCamp, Roger Bart
The Scene: Emily finds out Victoria has another child
Emily's face was just priceless. Can't wait to see what she does with this.
Castle, “The Wild Rover”, March 25, 2013, Actors: Seamus Dever, Juliana Dever
The Scene: Jenny tells Ryan she's pregnant
I just love how happy they both were
FROM DAHNE DAHNE
Arrow, “Salvation”, March 27, 2013, Actors: Susanna Thompson, Chin Han
The Scene: Moira leads Frank to his death and then freaks out about the literal blood on her hands.
-This scene was incredibly well-acted.
Revolution, "The Stand", March 25, 2013, Actor: Elizabeth Mitchell
The Scene: Rachel cuts something blinking out of her son Danny's dead body.
-It was good enough that one of the Mathesons died but then to add that shocker took it to a whole new level.
Grimm, "Nameless", March 29, 2013, Actors: David Giuntoli, Silas Weir Mitchell
The Scene: Monroe tells Nick that Juliette is going to leave Portland unless she remembers everything.
-I am very glad for this because it seems like the amnesia subplot will finally end next week. It has been a drag on the overall season and hopefully will allow Juliette to become a member of their crime fighting cadre.

Justified - Ava isn't able to kill Ellen May, Tim kills Colt. Great stuff going on by all the actors.
ReplyDeleteSouthland - The end scene with Cooper and his old mentor, yeah made me cry a whole lot.
Raising Hope - Sabrina calling Virginia her mum and then at the end calling the Chances her family. Raising Hope does emotional pay offs very well.
Happy Easter all
ReplyDeleteAnd to you, Andy!
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead - Merle and Daryl final scene.Nothing even comes close for me this week.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you too.
ReplyDeleteAnd happy Passover for all the Jews around the SpoilerTV world.
I went with: The Walking Dead scene with Merle and Daryl, Mellie going balistic on Fitz about parenting on Scandal and the Meredith and Casey scene on Grey's because for some reason that was an episode that really moved me. I have still to watch TVD though. Nikita using the black boxes to save division should also be here IMO.
ReplyDeleteI only watch and keep up with one show. In Supernatural, at the end, where Dean told Sam they had to go after the next trial. He wanted to make sure the teens were able to have a normal life. Sam murmurs not just them.
ReplyDeleteTHE WALKING DEAD - I would have picked Merle's death scene if it hadn't been for the very weird, sloppy editing. He died a hero's death, but it was just too rushed and the scene jumped from one thing to another (literally between shots) and it just didn't work very well for me. So I'll go with the Michonne/Merle car scene. First of all, it's Michonne talking, and that's rare. It was also an interesting exploration of Merle's character, and it's what made him decide to go on his suicide mission.
ReplyDeleteBATES MOTEL - So many to pick. I love this show already. Norman vs Dylan was very good though, mostly because Dylan is right. Norman and Norma are very messed up, and him charging his brother with a hammer kind of proved that point. Our first glimpse of the ''psycho'' inside him.
THE FOLLOWING - Angel Batista protecting Ryan and Claire. :p It was a really suspenseful scene. Kind of frustrating that Claire decided to surrender after ALL that time they spent protecting her though!
Happy Easter everyone
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter and thank you for a great site, Andy!
ReplyDeleteKatherine&Elijah...Amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead, Daryl and Merle scene.
ReplyDeleteI also loved Mellie going ballistic on Fitz on Scandal.
I'm glad Sam opening up a bit more and Dean been great :)
ReplyDeleteThis is the only show I watch..online, too bad its not popular in Australia!. All other shows can wait but this one haha
Agree. It was heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteEvery scene with Nico Tortorella (Jacob) in The Following. He was insane this week!
ReplyDeleteI looove the following but i actually think this was one of my least favorite episodes so far. The Jacob scenes were awesome, and I liked when Ryan and Claire confessed their love for each other, but everything else was just a bit "meh", not on the following level.
ReplyDeleteI also adored the walking dead scene you are referring too. I need to start watching bates motel!
I din't have to to get mine in, but I voted for Revolution: Rachel retrieves a flashing device out of Danny. The whole episode made point to remind us that Danny's whole existence relied on experimental procedures. I always like technology game changers and/or things leaning towards Fringe science. I was glad to see plot lines that might go outside of the pendants and the lights.
ReplyDeleteOthers I might have picked:
Bates Hotel. Norman and Dillain fight in the Kitchen. -It was a strong scene.
Happy Easter Everyone!!!!!!!!,
AND...HAPPY GAME of THRONES DAY! XD
(I have a feeling GOT's 3rd season premiere will make scene of the week next Sunday!)
I forgot about Mellie's speech on Scandal! Bellamy Young knocked it out of the park and it was amazing. That is why Mellie's my favorite, tbh!
ReplyDeleteSame here! Mellie is awesome to watch and I think Bellamy Young is a very underrated actress IMO, she is perfect at portraying her.
ReplyDeleteI loved the entire episode of NCIS. Sean Murry just knocked it out of the park this week. Although I especially liked the final scene when father and son were reconnecting.
ReplyDeleteThe entire funeral scene on New Girl was hilarious and sweet at the same time: Jess coming in as Elvis, Nick deciding to do the eulogy, even Winston sobbing. It was a good mixture of funny and serious, given the event.
Chicago Fire - That scene with the department members all standing in a row in the snow, raising the flag for the boy's family and his memory, really moved me.
ReplyDeleteArrow - The end scene with Oliver, Diggle, Felicity.
The Walking Dead - Daryl finding Merle.
No Beauty and the Flop? Little girls will commit suicides over this. :(
ReplyDeleteTed's speech to the mother was great.
ReplyDeletePsych's hundredth episode, "100 Clues": the singing telegram; the Chocolate Dance; the toupee room; the completely random arrival of Curt Smith; the frenetic, Clue-style wrap-up; and pretty much any time we saw James Roday channeling Tim Curry.
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot about that! Probably cause I've seen this episode a bit earlier! ;) But you're right. Some brilliant scenes here. Would have no idea which one to choose, anyway, tbh!
ReplyDeleteCastle was it for me in Wild Rover's Kate and Rick together talking it out what Jordan means!
ReplyDeleteThere were a lot of great scenes this week, but I ended up picking the Chicago Fire scene at the end with the funeral. The entire case was heartbreaking and it was just difficult to not get choked up at the end. Scandal had a ton of good scenes too, with Mellie and Fitz being one of them (seriously, are we ever going to see those kids?). I liked the Arrow scenes with Felicity, Diggle and Oliver, and loved the scene with Oliver racing through the city to stop the killer. My happiness at seeing Elijah on Vampire Diaries was cancelled out by Katherine's presence (the whole Jeremy-killing thing was a big turnoff)...plus I'm a bit fed-up with that show.
ReplyDeleteJane, Kirkland, and Red John issue!
ReplyDeleteOther: Beauty and the Beast! VinCat's kiss on the fire escape, then when he jumps down 4 stories, lands on the truck and jumps to the ground! I thought that was very cool! And his smile when he looked up at Cat....he was totally showing off!! lol
ReplyDeleteSeriously, people at SpoilerTV, will you EVER include a BATB scene in the pick of the week!?! It's very annoying that you don't! Your bias is showing! :/
Honestly, we repeat it every week. If a show is not included (especially repeatedly) this simply means that no one on the team watches it. That's why there's always
