    I don't get the B&B appeal. The show is awful... Anyway, good for Nikita and Dixie. Elsewhere, Glee will be renewed for sure, although I would love if they dropped the NY part as a whole..

    On Covert Affairs, but yeah also the new detective Jamie Lovato (Natalie Martinez) was cast in under the dome and also Megan Dodds was also cast in I Am A Victor. Son all in all we see much of the stars going to other projects and i don't see them continuing the series without them more so with Megan Dodds which we saw Mac propose to her in the finale.

    Nikita renewal? Wow, awesome.
    Touch cancelled is expected but sucks.
    Whitney deserves to die a horrible death (the show, not the actress)
    Community, Go On and Parks and Recreation definitely deserve to return as they are some of the best comedies.
    Happy Endings cancellation sucks as well.

    I hope Batb gets cancelled. I gave it 10 episodes and I remained baffled by the poor writing, acting and how boring and minimalistic the show was. It's time slot could be used to launch a new show that could actually be good next fall. The CW has a lot of promising pilots filming. Or cancelling Batb would give TVD a chance, even on Fridays, since it's a good teen show and the CW can't live by only genre shows.


    And then, there's the ratings issue. Batb lost half of its audience two weeks after its pilot, which isn't good. And I'm sure it being a procedural made the network had better ratings expectations than multiple 0.5s in the FIRST season. Plus, you would think that Kristen Kreuk would draw in more viewers. And there's the retention out of TVD that's expected, but Batb fails at that too. Certainly a new show will air next fall after tvd, Batb, if moved to a new night, should do worse, maybe 0.2/0.3s, which would be certain cancellation. So the CW should just get rid of it this season already. I don't think some passionate fans and supposedly good overseas numbers would make up for the awful ratings, even lower if there's a second season. Cancel it, and give TCD or The Selection, Tomorrow People, or other pilot a chance.

    Thats good you dont like the show, but sorry to tell you there is a lot of us that like the show, as I dont watch anything else on the network but this show, even get to see the last 5 minutes of TVD when I have never watched it and have not intention on doing so because I feel the same that you feel with BATB. But hey people like different things thats the reason there are so many shows out there where to pick from. And the only way the CW will put a new show over BATB (when this show clearly has a based fandom) only if the pilot and the CW has a lot of faith in it, which I doubt.

    This actually sounds pretty accurate. My disagreements:
    - Beauty and the Beast is a bubble show for me. So on track for renewal sounds like a reasonable possibility, although it would be equally reasonable if it was on track to be canceled
    - I think there is some chance that Whitney comes back, albeit small. I would leave it as bubble, but this is also pretty ok - the only chance it has, IMO, is to come back as spackle again, but that is not very likely
    - Parks and Recs is a lock for renewal
    - I doubt NBC will renew both Community and Go On. I am 90% sure one of them will be renewed and used as sacrificial lamb against the big bang theory, but two of them sound unlikely.
    - I still say there is some sort of chance for HE, but I will not argue if you say it will be canceled neither I will be surprised. All the other ABC predictions sound spot on, even though I am not sure Nashville is in a better position than Body of Proof for one to be renewal and the other bubble. Also, I suppose there is some chance Malibu Country doesn't come back, even though I think it will!
    - Golden Boy is certain to be canceled IMO, not sure how it can be on the bubble, sure CBS can do better with their new pilots than it is doing with it. At least they ought to try!

    But overall, pretty accurate list.

    It certainly has hope. I give it the edge on the three NBC bubble comedies (Community, Go On and Whitney). I think at this point is basically battling with Go On for the spot. It is also possible, as the article suggests, that both Go On and Community are renewed, with Go On most likely taking the Thursdays at 8 spot and Community being saved to midseason again!

    I think Body of Proof has a decent chance of saving itself. It needs to remain higher than 1.5 for the remainder of the season and it needs the other ABC shows to not set the world on fire in the meantime. But I think it will be back, although it certainly belongs on the bubble at this point.

    Mr. Brightside..I can agree with you that the first couple of episodes of B&B were weak but the show has really taken a different path that has made it into one of the best shows om the CW. Give it a second chance. You will not regret it. I watch HOD, Glee, etc. These seem childish next to the grownup B&B.

    Community and Go On are the only shows i watch that are in danger... Good to see themwith hope.


    On the B&TB debate, I gave it a try 'cause a friend told me to watch it: With all due respect of the fans, i tought it was a show with very poor acting and incredible bad writers, with a lot of cheesy dialoge... Also, The CW fail again to retain TVD's ratings, for i, personally, would't renew the show.


    The CW must develop a new show and try again to lure the Vampire Diares' regular watcher... If B&TB is being pulled out of it's current time slot, it will lose all it's steam and drop to 0.4's... In my opinion, the show must be cancelled.


    They need something to work as Arrow/Supernatural do... Supernatural(I droped it after half of Season 7. For me it should have ended on Season 5 with a high note--- Great show from Seasons 1-5) got a rating bump! SN increse it's ratings from the Arrow audience quite a lot! Making both a great pair! Now The CW must continue with this Arrow/SN for at least two Season... They are good to each other!

    Pilot was universally panned by critics and viewers, but the show after the 4 or 5th episode changed and now its a complete different show from the beginning, and many many of those critics have changed their minds too and expressed it in recent reviews of the episodes, I would tell you to watch recent episodes or look up critics on the last episodes, since it would be bias from me to tell you that the show just got better since I always have loved the show.

    They did give TCD a chance, it's just not working out at all.
    As for the other pilots, BatB has no influence on them since they'll be used to replace the failed cancellations from this season.

    You say you gave BATB 10 eps, but if you did you would know its no longer a procedural based show. This is NOT a teeny bopper show. It's content is very much geared for adults and personally, I find the writing/acting to be of equal or better value than many of the other CW shows. Saying that the CW should cancel it because of low ratings to make room for better shows, like TCD, is laughable. TCD is the second lowest in ratings for the CW! lol. Plus there is no guarantee that any of those pilots will take off! Keeping BATB makes sense to me, they have invested SO little in advertising yet it still manages to pull in better ratings than the heavily promoted TCD.

    Wow lots of people being negative about shows, I personally love BATB and find other certain shows pointless which I wont mention out of respect for their fanbase. What I hate, and it has happend with so many shows in the past is when a show just gets dropped. Every show has fans (no matter how small) and the network obviously knows when a show is going to be dropped...so...they should,out of respect for their fans end the show properly . Desperate housewives, Friends, Prison Break and millions more successful shows finished their shows for the fans with complete closure of story arcs etc. The same should happen to the small not successful shows, there may not be many of them but the fans have devoted their time to follow and support that show. Anyway I hope Beauty and the beast does get another season (it is getting better every ep:) along with park & rec, go on & community but if they just cut these shows dead like so many others I have liked in the past, I for one will not watch another new show until it is into its second or third season so I'm not wasting my time.

    I'm rooting for a S2 for BATB!!! It's SUCH a good show! It's a shame it took a while to find its groove, because it has matured into an intense series filled with action, suspense, drama, humor, and romance. Due to poor advertising many people don't understand this version of the beast and have misconceptions about this show. I know I did at first. But I gave it a chance half way through and now I'm a HUGE fan and nothing else compares to this show for me now. I highly recommend watching a more recent ep with an open mind and giving it a chance you just might be pleasantly surprised. I know I was.

    I hope that BaTB will be cancelled. I watch every episode and i will watch season 2 it there will be one. Its just that its probably my least favourite CW show right now (only 90210 is worse), but still good. I still hope that miracle will happen and Carrie will be renewed :D .......................... its true that it will probably loose some ratings if wont be paired with TVD and im almost sure that it wont because i think taht TVD will be paired with The Originals. But who knows, maybe they will pair it with Arrow or Supernatural and its rating will get bigger.....................and its really bad that Cult is such a flop :/ i think its really great show :D

    it had pretty good sampling for the pilot so advertising was never the problem. Sometimes people just dont like a show, Beauty lost half its demo rating from episode 1 to 2 that to me says that people just didnt like what they saw.

    I don't think your claim about Arrow is fair for SPN. Arrow may be helped a little at the beginning, but now it has been proved multiple times that SPN rating does not depend on Arrow. SPN even outperform Arrow in demo this week. I think the reason is that show has been resurrected from deadly writing of seasons 6-7.It's much better now so is ratings. You don't see it because you don't watch it any more.

    BatB is airing after the network's highest rated show and is losing about 50% of its lead in audience and is doing approximately the same of the cancelled show that aired in its time slot the year before.

    TCD on the other hand, airing before 90210, was not given a proper chance. The viewers TCD have might be less, but they are loyal viewers who tune in for the show, they are not residuals from something that aired the hour before.

    I honestly don't care what The CW decides about BatB, I'm happy for the fans if it is renewed (afterall they have an empty spot on Friday - supposing they renew Nikita for that syndication reason - and BatB doesn't look like a very expensive show) but there's no way in hell it is staying after TVD.

    The pilot is not a good sampling of what the show is now. It has changed a great deal since the pilot. Thats what I'm trying to say. People tuned out after the pilot and have made their mind up about this show. But the show has changed/improved a lot since then. And as a frequent CW viewer I disagree about the advertising. I saw very few promos for BATB but was bombarded with TCD, Arrow and Cult promos. I think the CW thought being behind TVD would be enough, but TVD fans have proven to be an unreliable audience since nothing as benefited from the TVD success yet.

    It was given promo and hype that didn't pan out the way they wanted it to, especially with trying to cash in to SatC's franchise success, it just didn't resonate with people. Arrow didn't need a lead in and it did just fine.

    Supernatural has been on for years, there is no way that the arrow has affected its ratings if anything it works the other way people had nothing to watch at 8 so they watched arrow because they were going to watch supernatural at 9. Thats not an insult to arrow i'm just saying a new show that premiered this year wouldn't effect the ratings of a show in its 8th season. People just don't tune into a show on its 8th season that they know nothing about.

    I don't like TVD and TBBT and Glee but i try not to go out there and upset their fans with my words.Because i respect their likes.If they love those shows and find it appealing i am no one to judge and bash the shows because clearly i can't force people to like and dislike the shows i like and dislike. I try to avoid the fans as well as the shows.

    So as i have said many times before it is completely fine if you don't like the show for some reason.But if you could be nice about it,it'll be really cool.

    But my patience starts to run low when i read comments like yours.I mean you are just being biased about.It's clear you have some hate issues for shows that have crazy obsessed fans (Mentioned twilight) who would do anything for the show/Movie Series they love.Which is an admirable thing.Not every show has such dedicated and loyal fans and it's completely normal to get jealous if the show you love doesn't have that kind of following.

    I don't know if you even know the ABC of acting,you don't like the show you have no other reason to say why so you go and say how awful the acting is??How immature is that??

    Trust me i watch a lot of shows and i see actors giving amazing performances day and day out.This show has some amazing actors and whether you accept it or not they're performing as well as they can maybe even better.

    So please i'm saying it nicely if you don't find this show appealing don't waste your time on it.

    Once Upon A Time and Revenge: Lock for renewal, YES! I had a feeling they were safe.
    But, seeing Beauty and the Beast on track for renewal brings joy to my eyes.
    We beasties love our show and are fighting hard for it, so that gives us such joy seeing that.
    I'm sorry for the fans of the other shows that are seeing their favorite show being in danger of cancellation, cause it does suck when your show is in danger.

    True, but I am not sure those are meaningful enough to make that big of a difference, especially because I also suspect the show might be slightly more expensive, which is likely to offset that. But Nashville is a first year show, so ratings tend to be less stable in future years, meaning that future drops tend to be higher, which is why I am not sure it is in a much better position than BoP is. I think at the end of the day both will be renewed though, but there is some chance that one of them makes it and the other doesn't.

    Saying that it has no shot at all doesn't seem right, but it has a very very small chance at this point, because the mentalist was already renewed and it was basically a one or the other scenario, otherwise CBS will only be able to premiere 2.5 new hours in the fall, which is too little.

    Will be so upset if the Neighbors is cancelled :( One of the best comedies since alf! I did like 3rd rock too but the kids in the Neighbors make it a bigger winner to me. YAY for Grimm!!! Once Upon a Time is slowly losing me so I actually don't care about it right now. What about Elementary? And I hope BATB gets renewed because while I don't need to see them get physical every ep like some people, I actually really enjoy the show and I adore Kristin.     That is simply not true and a stereotype created by Dawn Ostroff when she was running the CW. I think you would be surprised at how old some CW shows skew. Arrow and Nikita being the two oldest-skewing. Supernatural skews older than the rest too.

    Even if Beauty and the Beast gets cancelled, it will not improve The Carrie Diaries' chances. The only thing that could save it would be an increase in the ratings. The Cw is desperate but I can't see it as so desperate it would renew 2 shows pulling 0.4's.

    TV is a business and its clients are actually advertisers not viewers. I agree if at all possible TV shows should be informed that they are going to be cancelled before filming ends but sometimes studios don't know yet. TV scripts are written well ahead of when they are shot and they are shot well before they are aired. Unless a studio knows months in advance, it may not always be feasible. They certainly aren't going to pay writers to come in and write a new script for a show that is going to be cancelled much less call the cast and crew to reshoot. It sucks and I've had plenty of shows just end on me, but sadly that's business.

    I disagree. Arrow and Beauty and the Beast got a wealth of advertising in September and October. I actually saw a lot about them in the summer too. The new fall show that got shafted was Emily Owens. I didn't watch that show except the pilot but those fans had a right to complain about the advertising.


    I do agree that Vampire Diaries has proven to be a poor launching pad for new series. If the Originals does not have good retention ratings, it will be time to switch VD to the later time slot and premiere something before it similar to how Arrow premiered before Supernatural.

    Ratings are just part of the story (although a major one). You also need to take into account syndication proximity and Nikita clearly wins there. Also, you have to remember that a 0.4 on Friday equals a 0.5 on a weekday, so it is not even obvious that BB's ratings are better than Nikita's. Nikita is a certain renewal at this point, Beauty and the Beast is a bubble show.

    It does helps a little bit... On Season 7, SN average a 0.7 demo, while on this Seasons it reached 1.0 on multiple times an average a 0.9 on the demo... For a show on The CW, this 0.2 diference is great.

    I'm not taking any merit of SN, the show is still one of the network's best even having 8 seasons in... Just saying the pairing worked well... While B&TB and TVD didn't: TVD average a 1.3 demo this Season while B&TB's was 0.6... That's less than 50% from it's lead in... And all shows's ratings drops after Season 1...



    The CW should put a new show and try to retain TVD's regular viewer...

    Actually the acting being atrocious in B&B actively turns me away as a viewer from a show like that. And again I'm drawing the parallels with Twilight because the basic premise is the same, and it seems to aim for the same audience. The acting being on same low level is just icing on the cake when it comes to making my case.


    Also it has nothing to do with my shows having active following, I watch a wide range of shows. Hell I watch Lost Girl, and the acting isn't all there either, but at least they show doesn't take itself seriously. Oddly enough LG still sticks out head and shoulders above B&B.


    I'm not going to go on another twilight-related rant. As someone who grew up with quality vampire literature and movies, having to watch that movie-series get titled heavenwards by tweens makes me puke. I'll sidebar here I only watched a few of the scenes and read synopses.


    But it got universally and critically panned by just about everyone out there. The same goes for B&B, which says enough for me. I'll admit I only watched the first 5 episodes of B&B superficially, I don't get the appeal, if you do, more to you.

    90210, TCD & TVD do have a largely teen cast so I agree that those are teen geared shows (although myself and everyone I know that watches TVD are MUCH older than the teen target). However I disagree about BATB (HOD does sometimes have an immaturity to it so I guess it could go either way but IMO it leans more to adult). BATB, Arrow, Nikita all have a mature cast and the scripts deal with situations presented to people in their late twenties to mid thirties. It wasn't THAT long ago that I was a teen so I have not forgotten what attracted me to a TV at that age. Watching a cast that was 10 or so years older than me, dealing with things that I had no interest in (real jobs, running for their lives, etc.), was not my idea of a good show. The fact that the CW has cancelled GG, 90210 and with things not looking good for TCD I think its safe to say the CW is NOT the same network that focused on teens anymore.

    And i'm sorry but what parallels are you talking about?? Do you see two teen age guys fighting over for a girl?? Do you see a Beast Family?? Or do you see a girl stuck between her feelings for two guys. Is there a love triangle that you see??
    The only thing that is common between twilight and BatB is the Genre which is Mythology and Love story and Supernatural Element.Other than that BatB is completely a different show with a lot of maturity.
    I myself is not a big fan of twilight series but the acting was good overall so you can't mock the acting because you didn't find it attracting.
    As far as BatB goes,the acting might not be of Academy level but it's pretty decent.Again you should find a better reason.
    And talking about premise if it is what you're talking about then i'd say they have succeeded and have gathered a number of die hard dedicated fans.
    I really don't care what you think of twilight cuz i'm not a fan.
    BatB yes got panned by critics earlier but even some of them have changed their views as this show (unfortunately for you that you left right where it started to pick up) have really picked up.

    If TCD is renewed I doubt it will be headed to Friday, seems more likely thats where Beauty is headed if renewed. If TCD is renewed which I dont think will happen I can see it being used a as mid season replacement again/schedule filler.

    I agree that Beauty and the Beast seem likely to go to Friday. They won't waste an opportunity to launch a pilot with a successful show if they unbundle Arrow and Supernatural and BatB is too weak to launch a pilot with. I just don't see them renewing Carrie Diaries at all even as schedule spackle. There's no advantage to it having yet another short season when that gets them no where toward syndication and there isn't enough ratings wise to make it worthwhile to try to get buzz going. Even if their new shows bomb, it's hard to believe that a 0.4 is suddenly going to look that much better.

    Never watched Twilight - not even sure what it is? In any event B&TB is really very good in my humble opinion!. It's romantic and the love scenes are tastefully acted and filmed but remain very hot and steamy. Jay Ryan and Kristen Kreuk are awesome together - their chemistry is very realistic so they either have genuine feelings for each other OR they are portraying that to the audience via their acting skills!!!!!. In any event, I think you have to watch it more than once. Hill Street Blues (from the 70's) got terrible reviews initially but it went on to be one of the best cop shows on TV for a very long time. Give B&TB another chance!

    Actually the parallel is with the older B&tB, which I considered to be far superior to the new version. I have tried it every week, and just don't find the characters engaging, and the writing and acting is just not there. And I wanted it to be good because I loved the previous version a lot. And I have done professional acting, so I know good acting when I see it.



    Linda Hamilton, Roy Dotrice and Ron Perlman have all had good careers as actors, though I never felt that Linda was as strong a performer as Ron and Roy.


    I actually saw it as a preview with Emily Owens and Arrow, and Arrow was the only one I felt would be a winner. And it is the only one that has been a success of the 3 from the start.
