British newcomer Celina Sinden has been cast in CW pilot Reign, from CBS TV Studios. It chronicles the rise to power of Mary Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kane) when she arrives in France as a 15-year-old, betrothed to Prince Francis (Toby Regbo), and with her three best friends as ladies-in-waiting. Sinden, who is still in her final year at Guildhall drama school, will play Greer, one of the ladies-in-waiting.

  1. I have real doubts that a historical fiction teen drama can make it on TV. I don't see this pilot being picked up.

  2. I can't see it happening either. I thought of you while i was reading this article yesterday.I know how much you dislike Charlie's character as well as her brothers, i thought this might make you give this show another try when it comes back? http://www.tvguide.com/News/Revolution-Return-Spoilers-1062027.aspx

  3. I love the idea of Charlie and Danny being less obnoxious. Charlie and Miles are my biggest problems with the series. I also like the idea of the main group splitting up and getting to see the other factions. I'm particularly interested in the Georgia Federation and the Plains States. Making this into an epic battle is a great choice. It widens the conflict, raises the stakes, and hopefully takes the emphasis off the Mastheson family - the big gaping hole of suckage that weighs down everything. Basically everything is more interesting than that family.

Neville's family is thus far the best melodrama of the series, which is practically drowning itself in melodrama. However it is Lady Macbeth, not father or son, whom I am most interested in. I could totally see her stabbing Monroe and claiming leadership for Neville. She needs a much bigger role in the future.

As for the pacing, I completely trust that Kripke will step up the plot and keep answering questions quickly. To be honest, this trust is the only reason I am still watching Revolution. (And because it is so much fun to snark about with other eye rollers.) Kripke has a knack of closing one major plot point while opening up another. I hope his vision doesn't get bogged down by the family and focuses more on the world view in the future.

  4. Hate to burst your bubbles here - but as this is Kripke we're talking about - it's never not going to be about family. And FYI, Kim Raver (Lady Macbeth) has signed onto the lead role in a pilot...

  5. I am fine if he makes it about family, just someone else's family please. However the idea of Revolution without Lady Macbeth is truly disheartening. I am convinced she is the most evil and ruthless one of the bunch. She's also the most fun.

  6. Yeah I really think this one is absolutely not going through either.

  7. To be honest I am surprised they picked it up to pilot. I haven't heard of any strong young adult surge in historical fiction. It seems that many CW TV trends follow that of YA fiction so this pickup is baffling.
