Definitely the last scene. The music. The way her body was displayed, amongst carnival stuff. There's so much weight to that with Jane's history as a carny. Jane's face. His 'I'm sorry' followed by 'she had it coming.' Even down to Kirkland's suspicious appearance. Everything about this scene worked.
Honourable mention to the opening torture scene, it was pretty daring for CBS!
Honestly though this was an episode full of great scenes.
wasn't that last scene just A-MAZING??? I mean, my heart was soooooo full of pain for Jane *ha! that rhymes :P) just the way it was shot was magnificent and as you mentioned the way she was displayed among carnival stuff was heartbreaking, his past is again catching up to him, poor thing ;_;
It was a brilliant episode with a lot of unforgettable scenes. But, the one that stood out the most was the last scene.The acting of Simon Baker was absolutely astonishing and breathtaking in that scene!!! There it was, the horrific scene with Lorelei's body displayed among carnival staff, but the true horror and pain I felt when I looked at Jane's face. There was a man crushed to death in front of my eyes, and then in a split of a second I saw a different man with a blank face, saying he was sorry and "she had it coming". It seemed as if I got a true glimpse into Patrick Jane's pain and for a moment I was devastated; I could not breath. I was so shaken and horrified, that I jumped to my feet and started to walk around. I still have that face in front of me. It was a very powerful scene! I will not forget it.
We, the fans of The Mentalist look at Red John mostly as a philosophical hunt. The Mentalist, like life, is not a puzzle to be solved, but a mystery to be lived. The show is thought provoking, so it is not for a casual viewer! Sorry.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
