  1. Yes! I've been wanting Morgan to come back for three years, so I was thrilled about that! His story was sad, though.

And LOL at Rick calling him crazy. Pot calling the kettle black there, Rick. You've kinda lost it, too so you didn't get to call Morgan out on his crazy.

    Great episode!

  2. I noticed this was written by new showrunner, Gimple. I am VERY pleased with his writing, as always. Let's hope this bodes well for his stint as showrunner. Great episode. I'm so glad to see Michonne loosening up and dropping a few comical lines.

  3. Would have liked to seen prison and Rick should have taken Morgan with him.

  4. But he didn't want to come along, so what could have he done?

  5. Added more than comics did when Rick encountered Morgan again, which in my opinion was pleasant and welcome. The new details on how Morgan survived and his thought process was also interesting.

Was it me or did the certain scenes seemed cut off like when Michonne stopped Carl going into the zombie infested restaurant.

  6. Rick knows he is crazy which is why he was trying so hard to convince Morgan that he could come back from everything he has been through. If there is hope for Morgan there might be hope for him.

  7. Loved this episode!
The title was very Apropos, Clear.

It was more than just the marvelous Lennie James as Morgan needing to clear out walkers, it was almost a reset for Rick. Never feel guilty, Never say you're sorry. Some things just need to be done and Rick saw that through this new Morgan who has lost everything by isolating himself.

Rick may be on the path towards healing now thanks to Morgan, but damn! Morgan is beyond help! He has managed to create his own Dante-like circle of the Abyssl. Quite sad that. Morgan was an awesome character and Lennie James is THE MAN! Period.

Carl showed he is very much the child-man. He is capable of very adult things very few children are, but he still does the absolute childish things like his personal quest for the family portrait. Reckless beyond doubt and thankfully Michonne was there or he would be dead or a walker himself....

This was the first time we got to see a softer side of Michonne and it was nice. It felt liek the first time Rick was going to let her in..... even though I always expected her to be a permanent part of the group.

One of the better episodes of the series for me with some very poignant and touching moments reflected by the sublime performances of Andrew Lincoln and Lennie James!
    Kudos.

  8. Simply fantastic. The best episode of the season, the best episode since Sofia was found in the barn, and one of the best episodes of the entire series.

I felt like watching two boxer's going toe to toe between Rick and Morgan. The acting was just sensational. Jaw-dropping to say the least.

Andrew Lincoln is so fantastic. Him and Lennie James are some of the best actors I've ever seen.

  9. This episode was superb. Good writing and good character development. Lennie James as Morgan is marvelous, very good acting. This is an episode that even when there's no action in it its entertaining. Carl and Michonne's scenes were good too, didn't disappoint at all. One of the best episodes this season for sure.

  10. Great ep! Sooo good to see Morgan again and sad that things turned out the way they did for him. I was hoping that he would go with them (he does in the comics) as I love Lennie James and would love to have him onboard..... major downer for the poor backpack guy... but sort of had a chuckle when they went back and took his pack... Best part was FINALLY getting to see a crack in the mopey mess that has been Michonne ever since she was intro'd this season.... now perhaps she'll start to come close to the comic character as I've been pretty disappointed so far.

  11. Excellent episode great acting, good action, one of my favorite too. Is good see Morgan again, the talk between him and Rick was just powerful and strong. I liked it a lot the dynamic Carl and Michonne.

  12. Awesome episode, as always with this show. Much like last season's, 18 Miles Out, the self-contained episode helped greatly.

We got to see the varying levels of insanity with Morgan at one extreme to the point of unimaginable torment on his mind, and Rick who may be heading down that path if his mind continues to deteriorate. As someone else commented, I do think that Rick seeing Morgan at this extreme may help Rick from going down that path. This by no means Rick will be cured, but I don't think he'll continue down the slope at nearly the accelerated rate he's been going.

And as many others pointed out, Andrew Lincoln and Lennie James were phenomenal this episode. I've had crazy respect for Lennie James since the pilot where he struggled as he tried to bring himself to shoot his wife, he didn't say a single thing in that scene but there was such intense emotion he brought to the camera.

Back to this episode, I've enjoyed the stronger, not stupid, Carl that we've had this season yet he's still a kid. Hopefully he'll be able to retain that part of him and not become Rick in his current craziness. Michonne got some good scenes too, and it was nice to have a little bonding between her, Carl, and Rick. One of the best parts of the comics is her friendship with Rick, hopefully we'll get to see that.

  13. Rick is not crazy. He is a broken man, he killed his best friend and his wife just died. How would you be doing if it happened to you

  14. Amazing episode! I like it when they focus on one location to tell a story, like last season's "18 Miles out" or this season's "Walk With Me". The Rick \ Morgan & Carl \ Michonne stories were both great. And I loved Rick and Michonne's kinda Psych-ish exchange:

    "We're eating his food now?"
    - "The mat says 'Welcome' ".

Maybe they should introduce Michonne to Gus :P

  15. Overall a solid episode, but the shows long term problems are far from fixed.

  16. We didnt see Rick pick them up, but I couldnt fail to notice that box of grenades in Morgan's hideout. I hope a few of them were picked up for good measure...
Other than that, amazing episode. Some of the best television I've seen.

  17. Fantastic episode but was a little disappointed that Morgan stayed behind. And we finally got more than a sentence from Michonne which was great. She is a solid character and actor which was needed with the dwindling cast. They've killed off so many and haven't committed to any new ones except for the Mayor and bringing back Merl.

  18. Yes, I noticed that. When he twisted the door handle and it's kind of obvious that Michonne stopped him but it seems like they [shoddily] edited that part out.

  19. When the last two episodes where about setting the pieces and getting things out of the way towards the grad finale, Clear was a sublime minimalistic piece of character interaction. With just four characters, the episode had great leeway to explore themes beyond just how they advance the plot.

This episode was all about the characters; seeing Rick confront someone of his past, someone that started in the same place, all through the looking glass. Carl and Michonne's little adventure was all about vulnerability, letting someone in, making a connection. I'm so glad that Michonne finally understood she can't keep people at arms always and that Carl and Rick have finally warmed up to her. It's building trust.

Favorite episode of the season hands down for me, if anything, because of Michonne's multicolor gorgeous cat.

  20. Sublime hour! It was such a great character study. I loved how morgan represented the end of the road that rick was taken, and i think he will slowly begin to get back on track from now onwards. and carl.. one of these days he may actually steal rick's spot as my favorite, i like him so much. Really adored it

  21. Also, I always say this, but it is worth saying back this episode: Andrew Lincoln is just fantastic, he plays Rick Grimes in perfection.

  22. The best episode of the season by far!!!

  23. Morgan was on a mission where he was. Short of tying him up, Rick wasn't gonna get him to go anywhere.

  24. I totally agree! It was almost a shame when they had to cut from Rick and Morgan to go to Carls wooden acting and Michonne's underwhelming dialog.

  25. Wow!! ! What an excellent episode. All the way back to the beginning with Morgan. I loved how the conversations between Morgan and Rick took everyone back to the reality of trying to live in this new world. It is too bad that Morgan choose to stay in the town since it looks like he has gained a lot of new skills since we last saw him! I couldn't believe the amount of guns, etc that he had accumulated. I also kept wondering about food since he never left the town? I'm hoping we do see him again in the next season.

Having Morgan stab Rick in the shoulder will be interesting and we'll see if tptb uses this as a way to follow the comic book storyline for Rick. I can see Rick not telling anyone about the injury and putting himself in danger again.

Loved Michonne!! It was great how they paired her up with Carl who seems to be the most logical person in the group at times. Carl really wanted to say something about the lone hitch hiker but he let it go. I guess this is another example of how the group has changed and what is at stake. I did feel sorry for that guy though.

  26. Great episode, and I loved seeing more of Michonne! She's been intriguing but was getting a bit old. It's nice to have more dialogue and story for her character. And the cat was amazing haha!
