  1. Loving the visuals, the plot, the action. Getting a bit disappointed with dialogue and delivery. Also I'm barely keeping track of what language people are supposed to be speaking at what time. They start with subtitles and then switch to English without much rhyme or reason. I'm keeping up, but if they try anything subtle, I'm gonna miss it. Right now, there's nothing subtle in the dialogue--so that is what it is. The action and story are more than enough for me right now, so I'm not at all disinterested in a really fun show. But if they could improve the dialogue it would be a superb show.

  2. subtitles are to show what language they are actually speaking. then they switch over to English making it easier to understand and watch. the year is someone in the 800s AD, so guess the language from that. im not sure if its right but i just label it, as the Vikings speakings some old Scandinavian language, the monks maybe Latin?

  3. I think the use of subtitles is just to differentiate between the languages - normally what we hear as English would be actually Norse but occasionally they speak in Norse with subtitles when other languages are being spoken too.

That said, I'm loving the show.

  4. I get it. But in this episode you had three different languages and everybody speaking in English at one point. There were several scenes in which it was not at all clear which characters should be understanding what. I followed, but it required that I make assumptions on who learned English from the priest. It left a lot of room for guessing and none at all for intrigue. If they tried to do something sneaky I would have been lost, which was my point.
