Once Upon A Time‘s Meghan Ory has been cast as the female lead opposite Josh Holloway in CBS’ drama pilot Intelligence, which co-stars Marg Helgenberger. Also joining the pilot, created/executive produced by Michael Seitzman, exec produced by Rene Echevarria and directed/exec produced by David Semel, is P.J. Byrne. For Ory, who is a regular on Once, Intelligence is in first position. Both Once and Intelligence are produced by ABC Studios, which allowed the flexibility. After recurring heavily on Season 1 of Once, Ory was promoted to regular in part because of interest for pilots she received last season. Her character Ruby has not been as prominently featured in this season’s storylines as it was last season.

So that means she's only reccuring for season 3 since Intelligence is in first position? But then again she can be a regular on both considering the decreased amount of screen time she has on OUAT
ReplyDeleteWow, aw I love Ruby but this Pilot is looking really good.
ReplyDeleteIf the pilot is picked up, I hope she can stay on OUaT since I really like Ruby. But then, she probably isn't needed as a cast regular anyway, so bumping her back down to recurring status wouldn't matter. It's good that both shows are produced by ABC studios.
ReplyDeleteThis is really bad for Ruby's fans, but considering how underused the character has been lately, I am happy for Meghan. She deserves it.
ReplyDeleteluckily they both film in Vancouver so i guess it is possible for her to still appear on Once even if Intelligence gets a full season, Roger R Cross films 3 series literally at the same time in Vancouver : Continuum, Motive and Arrow and he is a regular on the first 2 recurring on Arrow
ReplyDeleteWow. Interesting. They have been criminally underusing her character lately so it's good for Meghan but I suppose you snooze you lose.
ReplyDeleteRoger is SO busy but I love seeing him on my screen all the time.
ReplyDeleteI love that someone has gone through and downvoted every comment in this this.
ReplyDeleteI became more interested in her character after In the Name of our Brother and hoped they were finally going to progress her storyline. That scene with her and Frankenwhale was so good. I appreciated Red being such a loyal friend, too. She and Whale have been really underused, so good for her. (And hot damn, I miss Josh Holloway!) I hope she will still be able to make occasional appearances.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of bittersweet about it, it's good for Meghan that she will be on a new show, but I will miss Red big time :( I kind of hope she will get more time on OUAT and not go on a new show
ReplyDeleteIt's not like we won't see her again on Once, she can be a recurring character. We saw more of her last season when she wasn't a regular. And I'm guessing that they don't wanna have too many regulars.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she'll still be able to devote some time to OUAT. She's a gorgeous lady and a wonderful actress, and I wish her all the best.
ReplyDeleteI love how people apparently have no idea of what downvoting even means.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me both happy and angry. Happy for Meghan, because she deserves a lead role and she made wonders with the character of Ruby, such a little character that could. Angry at the OUAT writers for promoting her to regular and then criminally underusing her. She deserves better. Ruby's episode this season was more about Charming than about Ruby herself. And that's why I'm disappointed in the show, it's all about The Charmings, Regina and Rumple, literally. Pretty much none of the other characters have anything going on. Don't hate me, I do like The Charmings, Regina and Rumple, and they'll always have more screen time because they are main characters, but the writers of this show don't seem to be able to give the supporting characters good stuff to work with. Why can't they get even minor storylines? Damn, Ruby and other supporting characters got sidelined over Cora this season. It's just sad. It's only fair that Meghan is looking for a bigger role. Why promoting her in the first place? If she leaves, I leave with her. I've been thinking about quitting OUAT for a while, so maybe this will be it. We love you, Ruby!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me worried about Ruby's Future but hopefully the new show will do well since it's one I was looking forward to. It will be nice to see Meghan in something at least since we never see Ruby. But still Ruby is one of my favorites so I will be sad to see her go.
ReplyDeleteI love Ruby, but I agree with others about hers underusing (even tho she was promoted :D ), but if she could do both shows (recurring in OUAT and regular in Intelligence) it would be amazing.
ReplyDeleteVery happy for her. And this new show gets more interesting every day!
ReplyDeleteI just hope we'll still get to see Ruby! She's such a great character!
I am very excited about Intelligence (was automatically on board as soon as I heard about Josh Holloway), but I am very sad about loosing Red. She has been very underused this season, which is a shame, because she is one of my absolutely favorites. I will be so sad if they kill her off. Although seeing how much of a constant she is for everyone (Snow, Charming, Henry, Belle, even Emma), it could be a very powerful emotional tool. But I hope she is spared...
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I love all the main characters but the supporting characters are so underused. I think they've used Belle more often and she didn't come in until the middle of last season. Clearly the producers' plan to up Meghan to regular to discourage pilot interest backfired. I do hope she appears on Once occasionally - I love Ruby/Red, especially her friendship with Snow.
ReplyDeleteI do disagree with you on one thing though: this might be just me but Ruby's episode felt equally hers as it was Charming's. Although I can see why you felt it was more his episode seeing as how it was his father who framed Ruby.
It means they're demoting her to a guest star on OUAT. She can't be a regular on two shows at once.
ReplyDeleteSo are we to assume she's getting axed on ONCE or is her Intelligence character going to die in the Pilot??
ReplyDeleteHonestly as much as I like the actress on ONCE, she hasn't added that much to season as a series regular (although I was hopeful that maybe she and Whale/Victor might of had a future). I think she'd be fun opposite Josh Holloway. So which ever way this goes, I wish the best and will be watching both shows anyways, if Intelligence gets picked up that is.
Maybe she will just go into the Storybrooke closet like they did with the genie since the actor is on Revolution now.
ReplyDeleteShe hasn't added much because the writers don't want her to, sadly. She's a great character, she's a fan favorite and still they just won't writer for her.
ReplyDeleteYes, their plan backfired. Just promoting her wouldn't do it. She's a professional and I bet she wants to work and showcase her skills, but she barely gets screen time. I wouldn't ask them to make the main character of the show, but they should at least give her more to do since she is a loved character in the fandom and since they made her a regular.
ReplyDeleteYou might be right about Child of the Moon, I'm probably just mad because of how underused Red has been.
Well although that is true for now, I don't think we'll really know that until we see if the actress is "really" sticking to this series, -if the series even gets picked up. It's possible that the ONCE writers have plans for her, but that those currently don't match the more current story lines and/or the direction we seem to be going in for next season...She could turn up again later if they don't kill the character off!
ReplyDeleteConsidering she hasn't been in much this season it's not all that surprising, I love her character though, and if this gets picked up we probably won't see much of her anymore. No more FrankenWolf :(
ReplyDeleteWell, congrats to her.:)!!..Meghan Ory, Josh Holloway and Marg Helgenberger in one show?? I will definitely watch this!!
ReplyDeleteThey're probably going to want to make Michael Raymond James a regular next season anyway, since he's Rumple's son and Henry's father.
ReplyDeleteThat's a possibility.Unless something happens to the character,it does make sense. And apart from Meghan I think the rest of the regular cast will be the same as it is now.
ReplyDeleteAs much as this new show looks awesome, I wish they'd casted someone else. I really love Meghan on OUAT
ReplyDeleteI, too, am happy for the actress, but really hope that Red/Ruby can still make guest/recurring appearances on Once, and not just to babysit Henry.
ReplyDeleteWell, seeing how horrible the second Red centric episode was I guess they have no good story ideas for her.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're right!
