Grey's Anatomy - Shonda Rhimes Interview - Wants Kate Walsh and Caterina Scorsone back at some point

It's been nearly two months since Private Practice wrapped its six-season run on ABC and showrunner Shonda Rhimes has plans for stars Kate Walsh and Caterina Scorsone.

"I would love to see Addison back at Seattle Grace at some point for a visit," Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter recently of bringing both Walsh and Scorsone back to ABC's Grey's Anatomy. "I've said a million times that before the show ends its run, Addison has got to put on her shoes and scrub cap and come scrub in at the hospital. That's a given for me."

While there are currently no plans for either Walsh (aka Addison Montgomery -- or is it now Montgomery-Reilly?) or Scorsone (Amelia) to appear on Grey's Anatomy, Rhimes says they're both "always going to be a member of that family."

"Amelia is Derek's sister and I'm going to want to see that happen at some point as well," Rhimes says.

  1. Yes, please, especially to Caterina! I want her to become a regular next season.

  2. Amelia would be perfect full time on Grey's but the female cast members are cluttered enough already...

  3. Grey's should not be a PP wasteland, I want Kate to return but no thank you to the rest of PP. The cast is big enough already.

  7. Personally - I'm not sure I want either of them. The first season of Private Practice or so, I thought they worked OK. But really, she doesn't fit into Seattle Grace anymore. She hasn't in a number of seasons. The crossovers have been awkward and felt a bit shoe-horned. If Amelia showed up, say after the birth of the baby with Derek's mother and sisters, I would probably be OK with that.

But the prospect of the LA Addison showing up just doesn't work for me. She's not the same character as she was on Grey's Anatomy. The only time I might be OK with seeing her would be as part of the series finale - as a montage or something. But certainly not as the focus of a whole episode, which is what her appearances since the start of Private Practice have been.

  9. I'd love to see Amelia on Grey's Anatomy but not Addison, don't get me wrong I love her but she finally got her happy ending, let's leave it at that

  10. I am all up for this! I think Amelia could actually become a regular though, there is room for her in there at this moment. Even though I loved her relationship with James this season, she still has a place in there. Addison it would have to be just for a guest spot since they cannot screw with her happy ending.
