In my recent article titled "Looking Forward to Monday Nights" I talked about the return of ABC's Dancing With The Stars for its sixteenth season - Castle's lead-in for tomorrow night's episode, along with NBC's The Voice, followed by Revolution, which air against Dancing With The Stars and Castle respectively.
I also talked about how Castle hasn't seen an audience lower than the 10 million mark when Dancing With The Stars has been the lead-in for about 3 1/2 years, or since Season 2's episode titled "Kill The Messenger" which aired on November 9 2011. That episode earned a 2.4 18-49 rating and 9.82 million viewers.
Castle returns tomorrow after a 3 week break, and on the back of the terrific 2-parter, which earned season high ratings, with both episodes earning a 2.3 rating. The second episode in the 2-parter, "Hunt" earned 10.77 million viewers, nearly 1 million more than the first episode, "Target", and the third most watched episode of the season behind "Murder, He Wrote" and "Probable Cause", with both episodes airing back to back, in that order, with 10.94 million viewers and a 2.0 rating, and 10.84 million viewers and a 2.2 rating respectively
However Dancing With The Stars has seen pretty large ratings and audience drops in the 5 years it's led in Castle, so will tomorrows episode, and the remaining episodes this season, be able to continue the run of double digit millions audiences, as has been the case for the last 3 1/2 years? Don't forget to take into account the impact Revolution, led in by The Voice, could have, as well as Hawaii Five-0, on Castle's ratings. But remember tomorrows episode is going to be a hilarious one, and Perlmutter is back!! Is he worth a million viewers?? I certainly hope so!!

I hope DWTS does give it a boost. And its not up against Revolution until next week. My prediction 2.0 to 2.2
ReplyDeletei say back to normal begore the 2 parter and remember now that daylight savings has kicked in ratings will be lower so i will say 9.2 million viewers and 1.9 A18-49
ReplyDeleteDWTS is back... So i'll take a long shot and said a 2.1 rating and 10.0/10.5 million viewers!
ReplyDeletePD: Damm! I had allready forgotten about Revolution! Don't know why NBC gave it such a long-time hiatus... It might really hurt the show :/
You're right about Revolution, it's very easy to get a week ahead of yourself in TV land!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a high rating, but being realistic I´ll say around 2.0 and between 9-10 million...those, more or less, were the numbers earlier with DWTS, and I think the 2 parter was just an exception:(
ReplyDeleteHoping for a 2.1 and 10-1.5 millions. Glad it's back.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm just too optimistic, but I think a 2.2 and around 12 million viewers.
ReplyDeleteCastle hasn't hit 12 million viewers since the S4 finale, it hasn't hit 11 million this season. So I'd say thats a little too optimistic, but the 2.2 rating is a definite possibility
ReplyDeleteI'm counting on 2.2 and 11 millions..
ReplyDeleteThat long ago? I thought they hit that in season 5 as well. Damn, my memory is failing me! lol
ReplyDelete@Pascal219:disqus You can see all ratings for all episodes in the Ratings Database here http://stvplus.com/show/36/Castle#episodes
ReplyDeleteBecause I'm highly optimistic and always I see the "glass almost full". "never half empty" ... My prediction ....More than 12 million & 2.6 or above ....!!!!! **** PLs now don't bite my head off, it's just an opinion****
ReplyDeleteI was going to check, but thanks for the link! :) And I see I might not be wrong, after a hiatus of several weeks there is usually a significant uptick in total viewers and the demo.
ReplyDeletekinda sad that we need DWTS to give it a boost, anyways going with a 2.2 and 10.5-11 million
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one with a sense of optimism!
ReplyDeleteTough competition tonight, cable is killing networks lately. Ratings have been horrible at 10 pm last 2 weeks so I am not so optimistic 1.9 and 9 mill. I think it would be ok, but I would love to be wrong.
ReplyDeleteThis is the result: 3/19/13 Ratings News ABC/Castle 2.2 /11.23.... !!!!!!! ... GREAT...!!!!
