AXE COP Premieres Saturday, July 27 (11:00 PM-12:30 AM ET/PT) as Part of the All-New ANIMATION DOMINATION HIGH-DEF Programming Block on FOX

ANIMATION DOMINATION HIGH-DEF, FOX's new alternative animated programming block, will premiere on air Saturday, July 27 (11:00 PM-12:30 AM ET/PT) on FOX. In its debut season, ANIMATION DOMINATION HIGH-DEF will feature a number of new quarter-hour animated series, including AXE COP, based on the hit graphic novel; AND HIGH SCHOOL USA!, created by Dino Stamatopoulos ("Community"). As part of the network's overall Animation Domination High-Def initiative, the late-night block will serve as the on-air component of FOX's digital, multi-platform animation network. In anticipation of the broadcast launch, daily exclusive digital shorts and GIFs can be found at www.FOXADHD.com.

ABOUT "AXE COP":

Operating on only two minutes of sleep a night and fueled by a diet consisting solely of birthday cake, awesome superhero AXE COP and his loyal partner, FLUTE COP, unleash their unique brand of vigilante justice on bad guys everywhere. Created and written by Malachai Nicolle (age five) and his brother, Ethan Nicolle (age 30), AXE COP was developed for television by Nick Weidenfeld and Judah Miller (AMERICAN DAD). Weidenfeld, Hend Baghdady, Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser ("Drawn Together") serve as executive producers. The series ensemble cast includes Megan Mullally ("Childrens Hospital," "Will & Grace"), Patton Oswalt ("Young Adult," "Ratatouille"), Ken Marino ("Childrens Hospital," "Party Down"), Peter Serafinowicz ("Shaun of the Dead") and weekly guest stars such as Giancarlo Esposito ("Revolution"); rapper Tyler, The Creator; Jonathan Banks ("Breaking Bad"); Rob Huebel ("Despicable Me"); and Dan Harmon

  1. I can't wait to see Axe Cop. I love Nick Offerman's voice, so the idea of having Ron Swanson as a badass cop with an axe AND a moustache in a weird little animated show? Count me in.

The rest of the cast is pretty awesome too, and Jonathan Banks (Mike !), Giancarlo Esposito (Gus !) and Dan Harmon (mad genius / creator of Community) guest-starring doesn't hurt either. But an excellent voice cast isn't the guarantee a show is going to be good - IFC's Out There sadly is a proof of that.

I can't wait to see High School USA either, if only because it's created by Dino "My name is Alex" Stamatopoulos (I know he's highly revered for his animated shows on Adult Swim but I haven't gotten around them yet and his star-studded appearance in Community is all I know him from). Mandy Moore (Tangled) has a lovely voice and she's in the main cast of this show, sweet. Vincent Kartheiser is also in this.

I like that FOX is doing this original block, I will be watching. Now all they need in a late-night show, something edgy and unique à la Craig Ferguson would suit them.
