LOST. Definitely. There's very few shows where I can look back at the Pilot and say that it's among my favourite episodes, and that's saying something for a show that I've loved for its entire run. Many new shows are still struggling with what they are trying to be during the first few episodes, but LOST was amazing from the start. Fringe and Person Of Interest, heck, even Breaking Bad didn't start out very well, but I love all of those shows now.
I'd say The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones had excellent Pilot episodes too.
I liked the Supernatural, Glee and Once Upon A Time Pilots enough to get me to continue watching on, I havent seen any of the others so I comment on them. I voted for SPN as it was my favourite pilot, I dont know what the best would be as like I said I havent seen them all.
Had to go with Lost. It got me hooked in the pilot and was the first step on that wild journey. Game of Thrones is a strong contender as it was a very solid episode to a very complex world.
Supernatural was alright, mainly started watching it for a girl. Once Upon a Time was alright as well enough to have me keep watching.
once upon a time is definitely up there, alongside suits, person of interest, terra nova, white collar, the americans, the newsroom, eureka, awake, parenthood and being erica (all which weren't in the poll!)
The Damages pilot on FX had me instantly hooked. Other really good pilots were Heroes, Scandal, The Following and Last Resort. I like a lot of shows on that list, but I don't think they had the best pilots. On the other hand, I was a little disappointed by Heroes and Last Resort, but they had really good pilot episodes!
It's a tie between Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead for me. Other great pilots:Supernatural(although it was actually episode 3 that got me hooked),Battlestar Galactica,Prison Break and Lost(even though I grew tired of it after a while, the first season, along with the pilot, were incredible).
Lost!! Without a doubt. Most intense and intriguing pilot ever!! I also love the supernatural pilot and the heroes pilot. I thought the fringe pilot was a bit too long just coz they had so much to get going. I wasn't a huge fan of the once upon a time pilot. I thought it was quite boring but that the second episode was much better.
There have only been 3 series that hooked me with the first ep, since only one of them is listed I go with Supernatural. The other 2 were Veronica Mars and Roswell. Heck it took me 5 eps to get into Vampire Diaries and 3 before I was sure I would keep watching Lost and although I am still watching Once Upon A Time I keep asking myself why I am still watching. ;)
- I have to go with LOST, the pilot was impressive and you just knew that it was gonna be unique and not just a show about people stranded on an island waiting to be rescued. - Game of Thrones is a close 2nd, I hadn't read the books back then so I had no idea what it was about, and after the pilot, I knew I had to keep watching. - Fringe's pilot was awesome too, and again, it all started in an airplane. Everything about it was great, the action, the introduction of the characters, the fringe science, and so on...But, unlike Lost and GoT, I didn't know at the time that it was gonna become one of my favorite shows ever, I'm glad I stick with it.
Supernatural. X I bought the dvd of season one without ever having seen an episode, just going by the description on the seller's site, and I fell instantly in love with every minute of the Pilot.
X
The creepy baby room; the blood dripping drop by drop onto little Sammy's face; Mary burning on the ceiling; little Dean running out with Sammy in his arms; the three surviving Winchesters sitting on the hood of the Impala watching their house burn.
Then seeing the children grown up and finding out just what the Winchester family now did; killing supernatural beings while looking for revenge for their mother's death.
X
Although there are other wonderful episodes in the series , the pilot firmly remains my favourite, just for the utterly unexpected fascination I experienced when seeing it for the first time.
I think Fringe's pilot was very strong, it was like an awesome action/horror movie. Also I liked way too much Pushing Daisies' pilot way back in 2007. LOST pilot was also good, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Supernatural was ok, but it became better later on.
I think my top 5 would be: 1_Fringe 2_Pushing Daisies 3_LOST 4_Awake (god, I miss that show) 5_The Walking Dead (even if I stopped in S2, the pilot is still amazing)
Lost had the best pilot ever. We see a guy open his eyes, wander around, come to the scene of a plane crash, and he starts helping people. Everyone is introduced in spectacular ways. Action never stops. It was wonderful.
I've watched a large number of pilots but none fascinated me as much as Supernatural. It was eerie, terrifying, heartbreaking, and still had moments of comedy to it. The two brothers, one caught in hunting for life; the other having escaped it, searching for a missing father. The Deanisms started in the first episode. I loved the characters. They were human...real. The story drags you in and won't let you go. Why are the fans so fanatical? Watch the first episode. The show grows from there and only gets better.
Lost is my favorite show of all time and the pilot is easily on the top10 episodes, it was just brilliant. I can't even think about a show that came close to it, I was genuinely hooked right after it.
I think if it wasn't for it I wouldn't be around here today either! To be honest, wasn't it for Lost, I wouldn't probably be so hooked on tv shows as i am today!
Being Erica is top of my list. Love her reaction when she first (and for the second time for the same building but no dr Tom XD) met dr Tom and the therapie starts. Second on my list is Fringe! What can I say? Tank, Peter-Walter interaction, Peter calling Olivia honey, the case. Chuck. From Geek to supercomputer spy. Loved how they handled Sarah and Chucks first meet and 'date'. Also to mention: White Collar, Glee, Charmed, Buffy and Once Upon A Time.
Lost, without a doubt. I also liked True Bloods pilot. The characters is both show came of very interesting from the start. (It has gone really down hill for TB and the characters are not interesting anymore - sadly)
Well, it looks like Lost is winning by a punch, but just one thought. If lost had the best pilot, why did the plane crash? Either way my vote goes out to Supernatural. Loved the show ever since the pilot.
As much as I love Supernatural and it's pilot, which is definitely one of the best pilot I've ever seen, I have to vote for LOST. No other show can I go back and watch the pilot for and still we the same excitement for a show I've already seen as I did when I had no idea what was going to happen.
Easy one. You can say what you want about the course Lost took in its later years, but its pilot was one of the best hours of television ever produced.
I love Supernatural and I can't stand LOST but if we are talking pilots, LOST wins out of the choices for me. Just the way they shot the first 5 minutes made the pilot an instant classic. Supernatural's pilot was awesome as well. It jumped started the mytharc, had several great twists, and introduced characters I was immediately intrigued by. However the pilot is not in my top 30 episodes of Supernatural, while LOST's pilot is in my top 5 episodes of it.
I voted for Lost but Fringe would have been a close second. That opening scene and final scene solidified my interest in Fringe to no end. Like Lost, it was clever, intriguing, and left you wanting to watch to find out more.
Going off this list the first really good pilots that come to my mind are Las Resort, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Walking Dead. Those just popped in my mind but that's by no means a complete list.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Alias, Six Feet Under, The OC, Homeland, Luther.
ReplyDeleteCastle and Person of Interest are my standouts
ReplyDeleteGAME OF THRONES!!! Person Of Interest was a really good one too

ReplyDeleteSupernatural was the best first episode was the beginning of something amazing
ReplyDelete- I have to go with LOST, the pilot was impressive and you just knew that it was gonna be unique and not just a show about people stranded on an island waiting to be rescued.

FNL pilot is better than any other in the poll except maybe LOST.
ReplyDeleteExcellent comment and just the way I felt also. How can someone vote down on this..weird. lol
ReplyDeleteSomeone who doesn't like Supernatural or who doesn't like my comment. :) :)
ReplyDeleteI'd go for The Sopranos, even though it's a total cliché. It's just too awesome not to mention. Lately, I'd say Damages was phenomenal as well. From the list, I like both GoT and OUaT. I understand the greatness of Lost, but I don't think the pilot was the best the show had to offer.
ReplyDeleteI think Fringe's pilot was very strong, it was like an awesome action/horror movie. Also I liked way too much Pushing Daisies' pilot way back in 2007. LOST pilot was also good, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Supernatural was ok, but it became better later on.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you one hundred percent. I haven't figured out how anyone can not like the show.
ReplyDeleteI've watched a large number of pilots but none fascinated me as much as Supernatural. It was eerie, terrifying, heartbreaking, and still had moments of comedy to it. ReplyDeleteFor me it's Once Upon A Time. Made me fell in love with the show from Day 1!
ReplyDeleteBut I did like SPN's Pilot a lot too;)
Lost is my favorite show of all time and the pilot is easily on the top10 episodes, it was just brilliant. I can't even think about a show that came close to it, I was genuinely hooked right after it.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, and if the LOST Pilot had not captured me, SpoilerTV would not exist :)
ReplyDeleteOh this is an easy one,its Lost.I think its one if not the best pilot i have seen on tv.
ReplyDeleteI think if it wasn't for it I wouldn't be around here today either! To be honest, wasn't it for Lost, I wouldn't probably be so hooked on tv shows as i am today!
ReplyDeleteOnce Upon a Time
ReplyDeleteFor me the best pilot ever will always be the Alias pilot! Even if it isn't my favorite show ever the pilot was brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI went with Supernatural because it's my favorite show of all time and the Pilot was awesome, but Lost is a VERY close second for me. It was epic!
ReplyDeleteBones had a great pilot--setting the stage for the B&B bickering amid the attraction and the interesting cases. I was hooked from the start!
ReplyDeleteLost pilot is my choice, and then Supernatural pilot.
ReplyDeleteOut of those ah Once Upon A Time or Supernatural. I don't know I find most Pilots meh.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd go with other. The Following and Person of Interest were really great at jumping into the action.
Yeah, Awake was a great show. Very intriguing and complicated. Unfortunately complicated shows don't seem to go far often. :(
ReplyDeleteThe best premier by a long shot is THE OFFICE.
ReplyDeleteLOST without question
ReplyDeleteBeing Erica is top of my list. Love her reaction when she first (and for the second time for the same building but no dr Tom XD) met dr Tom and the therapie starts.
ReplyDeleteSecond on my list is Fringe! What can I say? Tank, Peter-Walter interaction, Peter calling Olivia honey, the case.

ReplyDeleteI'm gonna go with LOST,
ReplyDeleteBut my top five would definitely be:
-LOST (Again)
-Homeland
-Grey's Anatomy
-Desperate Housewives
-The Walking Dead
Well, it looks like Lost is winning by a punch, but just one thought. If lost had the best pilot, why did the plane crash? Either way my vote goes out to Supernatural. Loved the show ever since the pilot.
ReplyDeleteMy tops are Fringe, LOST and Firefly. I can't choose the best from them, it would probably go down between Fringe and LOST.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna say Lost, because i watched all pilots above and i can only remember the Lost one ! so it wins ;)
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Supernatural and it's pilot, which is definitely one of the best pilot I've ever seen, I have to vote for LOST. No other show can I go back and watch the pilot for and still we the same excitement for a show I've already seen as I did when I had no idea what was going to happen.

ReplyDeleteThat got a laugh out of me, very clever.
ReplyDeleteNewsroom
ReplyDeleteFrom these shows probably LOST. I had an awesome pilot. But I really loved Glee's pilot too. It was such a clever and funny little show back then ...
ReplyDeleteI love Supernatural and I can't stand LOST but if we are talking pilots, LOST wins out of the choices for me. Just the way they shot the first 5 minutes made the pilot an instant classic. ReplyDeleteblack donnelly's!!!
ReplyDeleteGlee had a great pilot.
ReplyDeleteRemembering the pilot one phrase always comes to mind , Charlies : Guys where are we ?
ReplyDeleteBest show ever made and i agree one of the best epis .
Truth be told, I'd say "Alias". The pilot by which all other pilots must be measured.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to get into. I enjoy plenty of shows but this one just didn't do it for me. It's just not for everyone. Like any show I suppose.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Lost but Fringe would have been a close second. That opening scene and final scene solidified my interest in Fringe to no end. Like Lost, it was clever, intriguing, and left you wanting to watch to find out more.
ReplyDeleteSUPERNATURAL! The pilot was amazing. It set up the show beautifully.
ReplyDeleteEasy one for me. Lost.
ReplyDeleteGoing off this list the first really good pilots that come to my mind are Las Resort, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Walking Dead. Those just popped in my mind but that's by no means a complete list.
