How can i choose ... those are my fav characters of each show ! ahah ! I'll go for Regina since i've had a strong attachement to her and her story since the very beginning of the show, but really hard to choose !
Let me apologize in advance, I couldn't think of many options to put in this poll. If you voted "Other", please share who you're thinking of! I voted for Amanda, she is such a cold, cruel, manipulative, psychotic, twisted and badass villlain - and yet, her attachment to Nikita as her ultimate creation, her best student, adds humanity and layers to the character. But Katherine is a very close second because she's amazing! Her disappearance from TVD (while god-awful Klaus reigns supreme) is part of the reason I stopped watching. Root, Victoria, and to a lesser extent Regina are also pretty cool.
I really dont consider Regina or Meg "villainesses" as they arent all that evil. Cora would have been a more legitimate choice from OUAT. I went with Cersei because she actually is as close as any of the ones I know on this list to being such....and even her, I'm not convinced shes all that evil.
Regina/The Evil Queen I also would have voted Meg Masters 1.0 (not the pointless and eye roll worthy version) or Ruby 2.0 (not the snarky prom queen version)
Alastair 2.0 was creepy as hell love that Sammy killed his sorry ass. I think Sam actually had the potential to be the best SPN villian and one of TV's best ever villains but then that would have changed the whole show.
I hated that we lost Alastair so soon, Chris was excellent and I have to agree that Jared does play evil and creepy so well. He gets a look in his eyes that makes him so scary. I loved Soulless Sam and possessed Sam. A much more interesting character than stand around Sam.
I know, and what makes it even more brilliant is that Katherine is completely honest about it - "Better you die than I." She knows who she is and she's making no apologies about being all about Number One, even if she harbors a soft spot for the Salvatores. That's in blissful contrast to her awful doppelganger who for some reason is being portrayed as the awesomest, kindest, sweetest person ever.
I think of Meg as she was in season 1 and than in season 2 when she possessed Sam. She was very evil in season 5. She didn't turn self-serving and helping the Winchesters until Sera Gamble got control. Meg was very evil.
While I do adore Regina from OUAT, this has to go to Root, who, imo, has been one of the most awesome and thrilling villains in the last few years - Amy Acker does an awesome job as her and Root's unique way of thinking and warped ideals are something that sets her apart from usual run of the mill villains.
From this poll i have to say Regina or Katherine, but there are so many "villainesses" that should be here, Blair form GG, Bela from Supernatural, Gretchen from Prison Break, Mary Eunice from American Horror Storry.
I think thats why Jared enjoys palying the darker versions of Sam so much because he gets to do more than just stand around and make the appropriate reactionary faces at everyone and everything. Plus he's bloody good at it. Agree with you on Alastair he was gone too quick but in the grand scheme of the season I can see why he wasnt around for longer.
Regina Mills. Because she's my favorite character ever and even though she's trying to redeem herself. But yes, the real evil queen from OUAT is Cora. Regina is still badass and the BEST.
Regina Mills. Because she's my favorite character ever and even though she's trying to redeem herself, she's still the best villainess on this list. But yes, the real evil queen from OUAT is Cora. Regina is still badass and the BEST.
I don't see Regina nor Katherine as EVIL... they both are the best villains, but they are evil by circumstances, and coexistence. Regina grew up with Cora being that evil creature had to see her only love, her true love, being slaughtered by her own mother, whom she does love, was betrayed by the little girl for whom she came to cling, was forced into marrying that dreadful git that was King 'the rapist' Leopold, and had Rumpelstiltskin as her 'teacher'; and yeah, he used her, she is his 'monster' as he said.
As for Katherine, on the books she got like that for spending too many decades with Klaus, the true evil, and on the show, he destroyed her family, brutally, she couldn't keep her daughter (this goes to her father), she had to live running from him, but yeah, she will look after her first; "Better you die than I!" no one wants to die. Also she did felt something for the Salvatore there, Evil doesn't feel, and Katherine does, she cried at the pictures of her family when Elena gave them to her.
That's why none of them are EVIL, they both loved, and still do, they're not evil, they're just broken and hurt.
Cersei is one cruel bitch of a woman. Root is creatively evil, and cute, but that's beside the point. And then Amanda, Melinda Clarke's eyes can just exhume evil. Those are my favorites.
From the list? Katerina Petrova aka Katherine Pierce. She is selfish end ruthless. And she is smart and manipulative. There is rarely a person that can go inside your head and under your skin like Katerina.
It's possible to be evil and still a complex, layered character with some humanity. That's exactly what makes Katherine and Regina great characters. The one-note villains who are completely evil and soulless are boring.
Regina ripped out her own father's heart litterally, and Meg used to slit people's throats(killed a priest),and helped lucifer supporting him all the way,she is a demon at the end of the day.AND YOU DONT CONSIDER THAT EVIL???Did you even watch these shows?!They are villainesses!!
Darken Rahl from Legend of the Seeker Poll relevant: Regina, even though I consider her purely evil per se, I'd say she's more manipulative especially in season 1. I love the complexity of the character, she can still go both ways, and somehow even when she's rather evil I'm still rooting for her. Delicious.
Depends.... which Meg Masters are we talking about? Original!Meg or PostSeason5!Meg? Cause Nicky Aycox was aces.... Rachel is just mmmkay.
Because of this distinction I had to go with Cersei. I despise Book!Cersei so much. I can't relate t her, I don't get her and she just seems so flatly and one tone villainous to me. But TV!Cersei is an amazing multilayered character, and a wonderful villain.
Most villains have certain circumstances that led them to making the choices they did. It doesn't absolve them of responsibility. I think OUaT did a great job of explaining Regina's past and how she became who she is without excusing any of her evil actions. Another great example is Katherine from TVD. It's the humanity and layers that makes them interesting as villains.
She rebuild the Judge cause she was evil. She helped awaking Acathla cause she was evil. Of course she was insane in both cases.
But her killing Kendra was more for fun. I think that had nothing to do with evil. But I agree that it was a nice trick. And an interesting kill. Cut the throat with her nails? Imaginative.
I would have *so* included Faith if I were to bring past shows into this (but then I think the list would get pretty long, and yet even more wanting..). She's one of my favorite characters in the Buffyverse, if not on any show ever.
Chelsea,i get your point,i dont see her just as an villainess,i do see her as person,as someone who suffered much, whose true love was killed, she just wants to be loved. The problem with her is that in fairytale-land revenge consumed her,now in real world she is obviously changing for better.I simply pointed out that she does count as a villainess because afterall SHE DID SOME PRETTY EVIL THINGS.But beside that, nothing is that simple, its not just good or evil, people do have reasons for the things they do.
Also not wanting to burst your bubble, but when Regina killed her father,SHE WASNT MANIPULATED to do so,she knew what she had to do to activate the curse,so she CHOOSE to sacrifice her father for her revenge's sake. Her father LOVED her,SHE LOVED him too, there was no problem, she simply choose revenge over family, because she thought she comed so far with her revenge, that it is too late to turn back now,so she choose to kill him.She choose to follow her hate and revenge, instead of letting go and choosing forgiving, and choosing her father, the only person that loved her at the time. So yeah,SHE IS considered a VILLAIN!!Deal with it!!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
From the list- Regina Mills. From outside the list, Cora (Once Upon a Time), Beverly Barlowe (Eureka), Yin (Psych) are equally was villiany...
ReplyDeleteHow can i choose ... those are my fav characters of each show ! ahah ! I'll go for Regina since i've had a strong attachement to her and her story since the very beginning of the show, but really hard to choose !
ReplyDeletehow can you forget WO-FAT from H50?? he is the best!!! and Root is my other option
ReplyDeleteKatherine and Amanda!
ReplyDeleteOff-air: Glorificus
ReplyDeletePoll-relevant: Regina Mills
If we are going for males then I would pick Alastair from SPN.
ReplyDeleteOf all time? Morgana Pendragon from BBC's Merlin.
ReplyDeleteRight now? Regina all the way.
Carl Elias - Person of Interest

we're talking about female villains though...
ReplyDeleteoh, and I forgot- Victoria from One Tree Hill is a good villain also!
ReplyDeleteI really dont consider Regina or Meg "villainesses" as they arent all that evil.
ReplyDeleteCora would have been a more legitimate choice from OUAT.
I went with Cersei because she actually is as close as any of the ones I know on this list to being such....and even her, I'm not convinced shes all that evil.
I think the bitch award goes to Cersei, but my favorite is Regina, even though (or maybe exactly because) she's on her road to redemption.
ReplyDeleteDrusilla from Buffy will always have a special place in my heart. ;)
ReplyDeleteCersei! What a bitch! I love her :)
ReplyDeleteRegina/The Evil Queen
ReplyDeleteI also would have voted Meg Masters 1.0 (not the pointless and eye roll worthy version) or Ruby 2.0 (not the snarky prom queen version)
Alastair 2.0 was creepy as hell love that Sammy killed his sorry ass.
ReplyDeleteI think Sam actually had the potential to be the best SPN villian and one of TV's best ever villains but then that would have changed the whole show.
ooh I hated that bitch
ReplyDeleteRegina is brilliant but I can't go past the pure self preservation of Katherine. She is awesome and evil and I love her
ReplyDeleteI hated that we lost Alastair so soon, Chris was excellent and I have to agree that Jared does play evil and creepy so well. He gets a look in his eyes that makes him so scary. I loved Soulless Sam and possessed Sam. A much more interesting character than stand around Sam.

ReplyDeleteT-Bag, Sylar (only in early seasons ;)), Spike & Glory, Clay Morrow, Alice from Luther.
ReplyDeleteEven though she appeared to be good, but Ruby from Supernatural was amazing at acting she was an ally until it was too late :)
ReplyDeleteRoot (Person of Interest), Regina (OUAT), Kara Stanton (Person of Interest), Katherine Pierce (The Vampire Diaries)
ReplyDeleteOther, Glory, on Buffy. For a current show I would pick Cora.
ReplyDeleteMan in Black (LOST)
ReplyDeleteI think of Meg as she was in season 1 and than in season 2 when she possessed Sam. She was very evil in season 5. She didn't turn self-serving and helping the Winchesters until Sera Gamble got control. Meg was very evil.
ReplyDeleteRegina! I just love the evil queen and what lana parilla brings to the role!
ReplyDeleteWhile I do adore Regina from OUAT, this has to go to Root, who, imo, has been one of the most awesome and thrilling villains in the last few years - Amy Acker does an awesome job as her and Root's unique way of thinking and warped ideals are something that sets her apart from usual run of the mill villains.
ReplyDeleteYeah, a sudden nonsensical retcon usually has that effect on character :(
ReplyDeleteRegina Mills (Once Upon a Time) I love!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFrom this poll i have to say Regina or Katherine, but there are so many "villainesses" that should be here, Blair form GG, Bela from Supernatural, Gretchen from Prison Break, Mary Eunice from American Horror Storry.
ReplyDeleteGemma Teller, Sons of Anarchy. Gemma is a fantastic character, and very well played by Katey Sagal.
ReplyDeleteCersei. I read the books. She may seem not that bad now,but she's more than evil, she's insane.
ReplyDeleteI think thats why Jared enjoys palying the darker versions of Sam so much because he gets to do more than just stand around and make the appropriate reactionary faces at everyone and everything. Plus he's bloody good at it.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you on Alastair he was gone too quick but in the grand scheme of the season I can see why he wasnt around for longer.
At first i was going to say Regina, but shes an angle compared to Cersei. What a bitch she is and i haven't even read the books yet!
ReplyDeleteCersei Lannister,by far...
ReplyDeleteRegina Mills. Because she's my favorite character ever and even though she's trying to redeem herself. But yes, the real evil queen from OUAT is Cora. Regina is still badass and the BEST.
ReplyDeletebut Dru wasn't evil... she was mental
ReplyDeleteRegina Mills. Because she's my favorite character ever and even though she's trying to redeem herself, she's still the best villainess on this list. But yes, the real evil queen from OUAT is Cora. Regina is still badass and the BEST.
ReplyDeleteI would've voted for Ruby over Meg in SPN and I don't really watch the other shows, so 'Other' it is.
ReplyDeleteI don't see Regina nor Katherine as EVIL... they both are the best villains, but they are evil by circumstances, and coexistence. Cersei is one cruel bitch of a woman. Root is creatively evil, and cute, but that's beside the point. And then Amanda, Melinda Clarke's eyes can just exhume evil. Those are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteGlory!
ReplyDeleteI voted for Regina (as the Evil Queen), but my Other would be the Morrigan from "Lost Girl." Dark Fae, evil, and loving it. Also Callisto from "Xena."
ReplyDeleteFOR THE QUEEN EVIL REGALS!!!
ReplyDeleteQueen Victoria, of course!
ReplyDeleteMeg Masters is my choice, then Katherine Pierce and Cersei Lannister. And maybe Root.
ReplyDeleteShe was both
ReplyDeleteFrom the list? Katerina Petrova aka Katherine Pierce.
ReplyDeleteShe is selfish end ruthless. And she is smart and manipulative. There is rarely a person that can go inside your head and under your skin like Katerina.
I voted Root, and Amanda would follow. Regina and Katherine were also great.
ReplyDeleteThat's my opinion of her too. That scene where she kills Kendra....
ReplyDeleteI adore you for writing that. I love hating her. Is that makes any sense?
ReplyDeleteIt's possible to be evil and still a complex, layered character with some humanity. That's exactly what makes Katherine and Regina great characters. The one-note villains who are completely evil and soulless are boring.

Regina Mills is my favorite villain and she is my HERO!!!
ReplyDeleteWho do you think I picked??
ReplyDeleteSpike was my first vampire love, so of course I had to like Dru also, she was just so much "fun".
ReplyDeleteOh goodness. This one was easy. Amanda gives me the serious creeps.
ReplyDeleteDepends.... which Meg Masters are we talking about? Original!Meg or PostSeason5!Meg?
ReplyDeleteCause Nicky Aycox was aces.... Rachel is just mmmkay.

Honorable mention: Regina Mills.
-.- Regina was abused and manipulated by everyone close to her into acting the way she did. She is not, by nature, an evil person.
ReplyDeleteMost villains have certain circumstances that led them to making the choices they did. It doesn't absolve them of responsibility. I think OUaT did a great job of explaining Regina's past and how she became who she is without excusing any of her evil actions. Another great example is Katherine from TVD. It's the humanity and layers that makes them interesting as villains.
ReplyDeleteTwo fine choices :) if it wasn't for my undying loyalty to anything Nikita, I would have voted for Kat.
ReplyDeleteShe rebuild the Judge cause she was evil. She helped awaking Acathla cause she was evil. Of course she was insane in both cases.
ReplyDeleteBut her killing Kendra was more for fun. I think that had nothing to do with evil. But I agree that it was a nice trick. And an interesting kill. Cut the throat with her nails? Imaginative.

So yeah,SHE IS considered a VILLAIN!!Deal with it!!
difficult..voted Root but Regina and Cersei Lannister were high on my list
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Amanda from Nikita is a true villianess. She is pure evil.
ReplyDeleteAgreed
