“It’s been a great experience working on Up All Night, but the show has taken a different creative direction and I decided it was best for me to move on to other endeavors,” Applegate said in a statement. “Working with Lorne Michaels has been a dream come true and I am grateful he brought me into his TV family. I will miss the cast, producers and crew, and wish them the best always.”

Wow. They need to go ahead and cancel it already. This is going to fail big time.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't sound good for Up All Night's survival. I don't watch the show but I like Christina Applegate and Will Arnett.
ReplyDeletewhat a shame. although not a groundbreaking tv show, up all night had a lot of potential. now iit's a mess. actually it's been a mess since they decided to cut the Ava show and Chris being a stay-at-home dad. And then multi-cam and now this. Great job, nbc.
ReplyDeleteThis show is so done.
ReplyDeleteso that's cancelled because people hate it when main actors are replaced.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame. Despite having its problems I always enjoyed the show. The comedic energy between Christina, Will and Maya was fantastic which is why as I understand it they chose to retool to a live audience: which I didn't mind at all. Hate to say it but with Christina leaving; a third of the dynamic is gone which means the producers shouldn't bother. This show is done.
ReplyDeleteI hate being that guy, but YEAH FOR COMMUNITY.
ReplyDeleteAt least i will see Will Arnett again on Arrested Development.
Fuck me, this show had so much potential in S1 in fact it was one of my favourite new comedies of the 2011 fall season. What has happened to it though is terrible and fascinating at the same time. How can they possibly keep going with it if one of the main stars has quit? Why are they still trying? Why did they fuck up a lovely little show?
ReplyDeleteEffectively cancelled :-)
ReplyDeleteNBC should forget the retooling. Just cancel it. Changing a single-camera sitcom to multi-camera is just beyond ludicrous and will cost them millions of dollars and it will not accomplish anything.
ReplyDeleteLooks like this show won't be "up all night" after all!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the first season of this show! Main star and creator are gone! They should give up, take the concept and change the name and all of the cast. Even if this show did come back after the long break, I wouldn't watch and would just feel sorry for Will Arnett if he stayed..
ReplyDeleteI don't follow this show, but it should've been a multi-camera show from the start. Maya, Christina, and Will would've shined in front of a live studio audience.
ReplyDeleteYeah.... that's not good....
