The CW is moving production of The Selection from Vancouver where the first pilot shot over to Hungary.
Unusual move for the CW which films all its shows in North America.
I'm feeling so sorry for all the actors involved right now. Must've taken quite a lot of effort to find a country where most movies after 2000 are borderline unbearable to watch and the current government doesn't support anything that doesn't forth their agenda. But then again it's a relatively cheap country for Americans and most of Europe, so it does make some sense...
Good luck casting this show. Unless the location is close to the Austrian border near Vienna, I doubt there will be many people willing to relocate there for 9 months of the year.
The BBCs Robin Hood filmed in Hungary and I think some other medieval series too because it's relatively cheap and it still has the countryside that Britain no longer has.
Too bad the government is so repressive and far right wing.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Love from Hungary!!!:)
ReplyDeleteHa! I have to watch this show since it my country they're shooting. :)
ReplyDeleteI will, too..
ReplyDeleteMy question is: if the show gets picked up will it continue to film in Hungary...?
ReplyDeleteI'm from Serbia and I'll watch it! :)
ReplyDeletevery unusual. i am hyped for this show
ReplyDeleteWow the only other American Tv Series I know that films in Europe is Game of Thrones. Is it cheaper to film in Hungary? Tax incentive?
ReplyDeleteThat makes me much more interested in the series honestly!
