The Hundred is.. a very odd choice for the CW and honestly doesn't seem like a good fit for the network, it seems more like a SyFy show. The show is set 97 years after a nuclear war destroyed civilization, leaving only a small group of survivors living in a spaceship with very strict rules, for example anyone having more than one child is executed.
The most expendable 100 people, people who have committed crimes or are even set to be executed are given a second chance, to be sent back to earth to investigate the possibility of decolonizing the planet, much like 'Lost' the majority of the show takes places with the delinquents stuck together in the wild on earth though there is a subplot aboard the spaceship.
On the whole the show is very slow paced and character based with ultra cheesy dialogue.
Oh dear, I had hoped this would be good.
ReplyDeleteI didnt think it would be CW material and I honestly never saw it as getting to series any way
ReplyDeletewell, not really surprised. Especially when I see cheesy projects such as Wonderland, written by Whit Anderson (wasn't she an unknown actress turned first time connected with the failed Buffy reboot?) getting orders from networks such as NBC.
ReplyDeleteSomehow it reminds me Lost and i love it
ReplyDeleteit does kinda of bear resemblances to Lost and Battlestar Galactica
ReplyDeleteVery interesting scenario. Hmmm sort of like America or Australia which was founded by convicts.
ReplyDeleteThe premise sounds quite intriguing to me, but the "cheesy dialog" comment makes me skeptical since bad dialog can ruin even the most well thought out show.
ReplyDeleteI like this premise. But if the dialogue is as cheesy as, say, Beauty and the Beast I'd much rather The CW order a rewrite and develop it again next season
ReplyDeleteLike, The Selection all over again :D
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think the premise sounds more likely from something that Syfy would do
Well it seemed to work OK for The Selection, which I think is almost certain to get a series order now. Especially since it would premiere right as promotion for Catching Fire will begin ramping up, I would think.
ReplyDeletePlus The Hundred reminds me *slightly* of my favorite YA sci-fi series, REMNANTS (by the woman who wrote Animorphs) so I'd love to see it. But it sounds like it would require a pretty big budget.
Me too.... bummer...
ReplyDeleteYeah, of course, I just meant that last year it was Selection now it's Hundred, "history likes to repeat itself" :-)
ReplyDeleteI fully disagree. The script is fantastic. Possibly the best one I've read from any network this pilot season so far.
