After airing only two episodes, The CW has moved Cult to Fridays beginning March 8 at 9/8c. Encore episodes of Beauty and the Beast will air in Cult's old timeslot beginning Tuesday, March 5 at 9/8c.

The series, which stars Matt Davis as an investigative journalist searching for his brother that got caught up with the diehard fans of the fictional TV series "Cult," debuted to a mere 860,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating, jumping to 880,000 viewers for its second outing.

  1. It's going to do even worst there. Fridays are a b**** for shows. No doubt it won't survive. Too bad. It's not a bad show. But there is a lot of cult shows out right now.

  3. As good as cancelled... this is pretty short lived.

  4. I feel bad for Matt Davis, gets killed off the most successful show on the network only to lead in the least successful... Also Alona Tal needs to be back on TV!

  5. oh no, this doesn't sound good :(

  6. that really suck I was thinking the show was good.

  7. I actually think this is a good move for the show. Despite the poor rep that Friday slots usually have, this move will give Cult a lead-in that actually makes sense (Nikita as opposed to Hart of Dixie), it won't have to compete as hard as it currently has to (Tuesdays being super competitive), and ratings standards are lower on Fridays.

As long as the move doesn't lose the viewers that watch the show on Tuesdays, this move is nothing but a good thing.

  8. Hahaha damn that was quick, this show is sooo getting canceled. I haven't had time to watch the pilot yet eventhough it's on my DVR) or the 2nd episode but i seem to be hearing nothing but bad things about it, which sucks cuz i love Matt Davis.....i'll stick with it, til it's canned.

  9. I felt that was his fault....living the show to begin this one, but who knows maybe he'll return on TVD or at least have more cameos....i would love that! Sigh i miss him so.

  10. Hart of Dixie was ALWAYS the wrong lead-in for the show. This actually seems like a move that I can get behind.

  11. Not like it makes a difference at this point, if it's already getting 0.3s. It's already dead, this is practically a burn off for the remaining episodes.

  12. The timeslot is bad, especially for new shows.

  13. I don't think it will help the show at all (if anything it might make things even worse) but at least Nikita is a better fit for the show that HoD was....

  14. What after TVD ?

  15. Well thats basically a cancellation for Cult but good news for Beauty, CW seem determined to get this show to a second season. The ratings upon its return are going to be very interesting. I think it will get a 2nd season most likely on Friday's if it stays at a 0.5 which is crap I know but the CW cant cancel everything and Beauty is really the only show that they can dump on Friday along with Nikita.

HOD, Beauty and Nikita I expect to be renewed, 90210 still might get that final shortened season and Carriw and Cult are both cancellation bound.

    Monday
    8-90210/New Drama
    9-HOD
    Tuesday
    8-New Drama
    9-Supernatural
    Wednesday
    8-Arrow
    9-New Drama
    Thursday
    8-TVD
    9-New Drama
    Friday
    8-Nikita
    9-Beauty

With one more mid season drama picked up
or maybe CW will push the boat out and order 4 pilots to seies for the fall and cancel 90210, place 1 new show on Monday-Thursday and pair Nikita/Beauty on Friday.
Nikita and 90210 if given another season each should be announced at May upfronts as final seasons for both.
Interested to see what the CW do for next season with so many failing shows. They will need to produce at least 2 hits next season in addition to keeping the ratings of TVD, SPN and Arrow decent.

  16. Moving Cult to Fridays is probably not a bad thing. To be honest I doubt it will make much difference to the show, it's ratings are so poor that it's unlikely to survive. Certainly being paired with Nikita makes more sense than HoD.

  17. Well, it's a CW show so they'll probably air all 13 episodes even if it will be getting 0.2 ratings on Friday nights.

  18. I don't think tis will change the fate of either this show or B&B. The beauty seems to be doomed to fall even lower during spring, and I don't think moving it to Tuesdays or Fridays would do the show any better.

  19. Friday seems a better fit for Cult, didn't flow well with HoD. And super excited for more BatB!! Love that show! i have faith that it will get a 2nd season and will do great on whatever night it plays and these Tuesday reruns will prove that!

  20. I think the move is good because Nikita is a semi-popular show, it could do better on Fridays. I'm just worried that next week, it will be up against the Grimm mid-season premiere. I'm a fan for both shows, but I'm not giving up Grimm for anything.

  21. So in theory, the CW could've aired the rest of season 1 of Emily Owens in its Tuesday time slot AND still air Cult. Anyone have a time machine? (Yeah, I'm still not over it)

  22. He didn't leave TVD in order to do Cult. He's explained that Julie Plec told him Alaric was getting killed off, so he called his agent and he sent him some scripts, including Cult. Matt liked Cult so he chose it.
No offense to you in particular, but honestly I'm annoyed by TVD fans being hostile towards Cult because they feel it "stole" Alaric from them. It's not like that, and frankly if they were such fans of the actor, they should have checked out Cult for his sake.

  23. oh no, should I worry??? Jensen said shows go to friday to die... =(

  24. well did SPN die on fridays HELL NO! what CW hoping that it was but the fans said no to that.

  25. Emily was finally getting good, I hated to see it go. Started watching for Justin, but had enjoyed the growth of the characters.

  26. I just read that 90210 is not getting any more eps. I hope this will help B&B.

  27. I checked it out because of Alaric, Jo & T-Bag and I love it.

  28. That's right, but remember SPN fans are the best. SPNFAMILY!!!!

  29. I was so upset, it was the most consistent show on the CW in terms of it sticking to its medical roots (unlike Hart of Dixie - which I still love though) and the progression (writing) of the characters was top notch. I thought I'd be crushing on Justin hard at the beginning but Micah was the underdog who got my love. 'sigh' being a fan of TV shows hurts sometimes.
