Can they discover what this has to do with closing the gates of hell why they are at it? I would be all for this if it were episode 4, but it just isn't. It's February.
I really need to stop watching these producer previews. I always feel less anticipation after watching them so that even Jeremy Carver's voice now annoys me. Could we please get back to the quest and more importantly finding the angel tablet so we can close heaven while we are at it? If not then I'm good with an episode letting me know what Crowley's up to on his search for the angel tablet. The story has stalled and we need to move forward.
Carver is depressing to listen to and he gives me negative vibes.
I can't understand those who say his writing is tight and his pacing of the show better than that of Sera Gamble, because all I have seen so far seem to be episodes that have poor continuity and co-ordination between them.
I believe one of the showrunner's duties is to regulate that. He himself has only written one episode so he should have plenty of time to oversee the logical unfolding of the season.

The first half of the season seems to have no bearing on this new 'Men of Letters' idea.
Perhaps everything will eventually fall into place, but I doubt it will be this season as most of the episodes left are MOTW which I am fine with.
I have come to love them much more than this myth-arc.
Well considering the hell closing arc has to last for potentially another 2.5 seasons then I think we've got plenty of time. Besides it does sound like the two will link together at some point.
the promos suck anyway and besides most if not all the episodes are more Dean heavy than Sam and by now its come to be expected surely? Dont see the point in getting upset about it anymore.
If it takes them 2.5 seasons to close the gates of hell, then the gloves are off dealing with Carver's pacing problems. Why not just admit at that point that you don't have a mytharc and start calling yourself a procedural?
OMG you are so so right. The whole Men of Letters is a big fat fly buzzing in my face. I just want the main quest and the boys on the offensive like he promised [lied] at Comic Con. And the Impala/Road Trip, not a lame home base invented by one of the weaker new writers... The only good thing is that Sammy will have some stuff to do finally [since they totally failed at finding something signifcant so far.]
I think you're onto it there. It's going to be the arc, mixed in with the secret societies stuff intro'd in tonight's ep. It just doesn't seem like it should be as easy as doing the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade trials and, boom, the door is shut. I'm beginning to suspect the trials are the first step in many ... spanning over two more seasons. Setting up so if the show ends in season 10, they have a grand finale, with both Hell AND Heaven being closed off, eliminating a LOT of the troublemakers for the entire series.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Another heavy Sam promo.

ReplyDeleteI think I saw Sam for maybe three seconds or so. I can't believe this pattern is anything but deliberate on the part of TPTB.
ReplyDeleteYep, he totally gets what Ben Edlund episodes are all about at least.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
