“I’m excited about the show because it’s a very hopeful show,” Whedon told TVLine Sunday at the 2013 Streamy Awards, where he was nominated for best guest appearance (in Husbands). “It’s not about murder, and it’s not about crime, and it’s not people looking into their own belly buttons. It’s about people who are trying to help each other, and that’s one of the things I loved about comic books. They had costumes and the villains were cool [but] they stood for something, and I like doing a show that does that.”
In addition to being very hopeful (and “very Joss,” as ABC boss Paul Lee has said), Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. — not surprisingly — will very strongly evoke its source material. “We’re trying very hard to be true to [Marvel's] ethos and also to the structure of their universe,” Whedon shared. “So it is definitely a Marvel show.”

Emily guest starring would be cool and very plausible since it is a ABC show.
ReplyDeleteOh my god. Acker as Jessica Jones. Absolute genius. This needs to happen!!
ReplyDeleteI heard she was wanted for the role back in 2011 when the project was under development at ABC, but they never casted someone because the project never went further to pilotproduction. The good news is that the project may be alive, it`s just not under development at ABC and being shopped around to even basic cable.
ReplyDeleteIt was suppose to be a series with Jessica as the main character, in the vein of Alias (the comic book around the character). Luke Cage and Carol/Ms. Marvel as supporting characters, of course since Cage his her husband and father to her child. It`s was also rumored to have Iron Man in a cameo.
Suddenly i want to see a Jessica Jones tv show so much more than the shield one lol. Alias graphic novel was what got me into the comic medium (i originally picked it up as a teen thinking it was to do with Sydney bristow) would love to see acker as Jessica either way.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that!
ReplyDeleteJust have Heroes for Hire (Jessica, Iron Fist and Luke), and im fucking happy. Could easliy see Amy Acker as Jessica Jones, ABC has tried to make a series out of it before.
ReplyDeleteIm really getting the vibe of a mix of Heroes and 24 outta this pilot. The opportunity to explore b and c-list Marvel-superhereos and villians that will never get their own tv-show, movie or be featured in a movie is so big in S.H.I.E.L.D.
Since Emily VanCamp is the star of Revenge on ABC, and got the female lead on Captain America 2 as Sharon Carter (a female spy for S.H.I.E.L.D.) she could appear in a guest role.
