----------
-Ratings Breakdown:
It was all about Super Bowl XLVII, naturally, with the Baltimore Ravens at the San Francisco 49ers on CBS at a very approximate (and record high) 48.2 rating/70 share in the overnights for the primetime portion (from 7-11 p.m.). The live nature of the game and the unexpected delay after the Half-Time Show, of course, means these results are preliminary.
Comparably, Super Bowl XLVII built from the year-ago match-up between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots on NBC (42.6/64 on 2/05/12) by an estimated 13 percent in the overnights. And that match-up translated into a record 111.3 million viewers, topping 111.0 million for Green Bay versus Pittsburgh one year earlier. Next on the Eye net was the post-Super Bowl airing of freshman drama Elementary, which averaged a very approximate 10.8/23 in the overnights from 11:30 p.m.–12:30 a.m. The Super Bowl Post Game posted a 27.0/26 in the 11 p.m. half-hour (which also featured the beginning of Elementary). Remember…all results on CBS last night were approximate.
Elsewhere, and it was all repeats, ABC populated the evening with two episodes of America’s Funniest Home Videos (7 p.m.: #2: 1.4/ 2; 8 p.m.: #2: 1.6/ 2), a Sunday 9 p.m. edition of Shark Tank (#3: 1.4/ 2), and two encores of Modern Family (#3: avg. 1.2/ 2 from 10-11 p.m.). NBC aired four encores of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers (avg. 1.1/ 2 from 7-9 p.m.) and a repeat of two-hour special Live From New York: The First 5 Years of Saturday Night Live (#2: 1.7/ 3 from 9-11 p.m.). And Fox kept its regularly scheduled line-up intact with repeats of Bob’s Burgers (#4: 0.5/ 1), The Cleveland Show (#4: 0.5/ 1), The Simpsons (#4: 1.1/ 2), Bob’s Burgers (#4: 1.0/ 1), Family Guy (#4: 1.3/ 2) and American Dad (#4: 1.2/ 2).

So just under a third of the USA watched the Superbowl? I wish my shows would get that many...
ReplyDeleteWhy still no Elementary ratings?
ReplyDeleteBecause it overan and aired outside of the primetime slot. 8-11. It did not air until 11:10
ReplyDeleteBut they will be posted eventually right? Do you know how long it will take? I haven't seen Elementary yet but might start watching it.
ReplyDeleteYep, they should come later tonight. We'll post them here and in the Ratings Database http://www.stvplus.com
ReplyDeleteConsidering it started at 11 and finished past midnight, I'm happy with 20 million! Should bring about 1 or 2 extra million fans on board, and I'm excited to see this Thursday's ratings :)
ReplyDeleteI sure hope it makes a difference.
