Aside from the random Barney weirdness, which pissed me off (What the hell was that about?) and annoyed me, I really liked this episode!
LOL at High!Ted and Drunk!Robin. Love that Lily stole the ashtray and the Captain didn't even realize it was stolen.
That escalated pretty quickly with Lily. I'm glad she got the job as an art consultant and can be a bit happier now! I felt so bad for her when she started crying.
Just an okay episode for me. Not bad, Ted and Robin's situations were fairly funny, kinda got annoyed with Barney trying to integrate himself in the story, and I feel like they're contradicting stuff with Lily. She already tried being an artist, failed, quit teaching and then realized she liked it, and now she's back at square one. I'm glad she's officially in art, but they could have gone about it in a little more original manner than her getting sick of her career again.
Technically filler but face it, that's mostly what the show is going to be until we meet the mother at the end of the season. For filler though, this was really good. Classic HIMYM as far as I'm concerned. It was great to see the return of the Captain, and I loved drunk Robin. In fact, lots of great callbacks all around. The random return of Becky and watching her and Ted "eat sandwiches" in a smoke filled apartment was great. The different perspectives on the gang's last encounter with the Captain was well done too. It was funny and it managed to fit the characters. The return of Aldrin Justice was absolutely my favorite component and I loved that they finally gave Lily some decent material. For the past few years its seemed like there hasn't been much happening in Lily's story. Yeah she got pregant but somehow even that story seemed like it had more to do with Marshall. Lily was just sort of there to be pregnant and give advice to the group. I guess she's felt a bit stagnant and under developed, so I was glad to see the writers wanted to focus on her a bit more.
Barney weirdness = fodder for the old "Future Ted is actually Barney who changed his and Barney's names in his stories to hide his crazy antics from his children" theory?
Wasn't really sick of her career, I think it's more her being upset about her life having so much potential when she got out of college and then she settled so quickly and lost her passion.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
