  2. So fantastic... and anything with Elspeth makes me happy, so that was a bonus.

  5. There I was watching TGW when suddenly... Archie showed up in the witness bench.

The episode was so amazing I'm still trying to get over it.

  6. I can't believe Alicia would stab Carry in the back like that, especially since she knows she's only been offered the partnership because of Peter(because as good as she is without her husband she has no connections). What a b...tch!

  7. She did not stab him in the back - she did tell him she was offered the partnership and that she was going to take it. In fact, it was clear how conflicted she was, it was quite heartbreaking to watch her torn between the common sense decision to take the offer and the newfound loyalty to Cary, and it was even more heartbreaking to watch Cary show her understanding and support her decision. The scene was amazingly written and beautifully acted out - and I'm so happy with the way they've shown both characters evolve and mature since season 1. For a moment there, in the scene in Alicia's apartment where Cary tries to convince her that they could start their own partnership, they reminded me very much of Diane/Will.

I understand that you're angry that Cary wasn't offered partnership, but it was a very realistic outcome.

I am however getting very frustrated that Alicia is still viewed first and foremost as "the good wife". She's put in the hard work, she's gone to great lengths to keep her job, she is an excellent lawyer, and yet she's still not appreciated for who she is, but for who she is married to. The saddest part is that this is precisely how the world works. Kudos to the Kings for tackling such controversial and relevant issues.

  8. You're right, when she confronted Will I thought " Damn she came a long way since season one" she's an excellent lawyer and kicks ass but still Cary was heart broken. I get that she has kids and that she chose security over the risk that starting her own firm would represent but still... She knows how hypocritical it was of the partners to offer her the spot. They only did it to break the fourth years appart, to shut them down and it worked...and David Lynch at least was honest, they gave her the spot because of her name, Cary's work is as good as Alicia, he deserved it too but he doesnt have her husband or the connections. At the end of the day she got the promotion for the wrong reasons(mostly) and she knows it, I guess she's just an opportunist.

  9. Cary is good, but let's not forget Alicia has worked for the firm for a longer period, therefore she has worked with more clients, especially the major ones. Btw I hated that David Lynch diminished her efforts on purpose by emphasizing her connection to Peter as the main reason behind her promotion.

I don't really blame her for seizing the opportunity - Cary would have done the same.

But all the latest episodes have shown how fed up Alicia is with being underappreciated at Lockheart/Gardner, so maybe Cary's suggestion to form a new partnership is a premonition of things to come - probably this season's finale. Given how awesome this new dynamic between Alicia/Cary/Kalinda is, I'm totally on board. :)

  10. At first I thought that David Lynch was honest but now I realize that he's just manipulative and that his honesty is a way of showing his power. Cary might have not spent the past 4 years at the firm but he worked on the other side and that gives him an advantage on Alicia.
I'm not team Cary by any means, I do love Alicia's character and I think her evolution is very realistic. She was a stay at home mom who was a bit naive at first but she grew up and gain in confidence, so yes she deserves it cause she's their best lawyer but I still believe that without her connection to Peter they wouldn't treat her the way they do and she knows it.

  11. Yes, you're right, she has been given preferential treatment not only because of her connection to Peter, but also because of her connection to Will. ;) She's a Caitlin, remember? ;)

And I admit that I do like that her evolution has been quite realistic, and I do love her level-headedness and flexibility in exploiting those connections - simply because she needed to exploit them in order to keep her head above the water and it would have been naive to turn them down on idealistic grounds. She is a wonderfully layered character, and I love how she's waking up and being more assertive now. Her actions are often on the borderline of morals, in a gray area, and that's what makes her so fascinating and human.

Cary, on the other hand - I admit I hated him in season 1. His cut-throat attitude and initial arrogance were off-putting. The guy he used to be stands in stark contrast to the more grown-up version of Cary I do like. And I did feel bad for him that he didn't get a new offer, but let's face it, he's quite young and a delay of one year is hardly that much of a wait.

  12. Right now Alicia is aware of why she's been made partner and she's using it to her advantage but I hope she doesn't regret it because she'd be foolish to think that she'll keep the advantage for ever. Being a partner won't give her the freedom and power she wants, it's the opposite actually, she wont be able to change anything, she'll just have to go with the others and sides with them. One day she's gonna realize that, can't wait to see what she'll do.

  13. It was very hypocritical of her to urge the other associates to work together, then jump ship at the first opportunity. I'm finding her character is becoming less likable as the series progresses.

  14. Best episode of the season IMO. It was incredibly good. The office politics are probably my favorite part of the good wife and this was all about it. So good. I loved the scene between Alicia and Will when she explodes. So good!

  15. Yay, Archie! That's why he's been missing from Storybrooke!

And the Captain hitting on Elsbeth! (I guess he's on the prowl, since he'll be back on HIMYM asking for Robin's number) (rofl)
