  1. I thought it was pretty good. I feel bad for the show however because of the constant comparison to The Following. I hope it makes it but with its slot and launch pad, that's highly doubtful.

  2. What's most annoying is this show was originally developed in 2006 with Matt Sexiest Man Ever Bomer and people are acting like The CW threw this together in the last few weeks.

  3. Exactly. The premise was there first for Cult but The Follwing just made it on the air first. :/

  4. Pretty good start, the set ups felt a bit flimsy but I liked the performances well enough and the material interested me enough to give it a few more eps. Alona and Robert Knepper were really great on their "show within the show"

  5. It didn't "wow" me, but it was good. There were points when it felt like they were trying to push the "Cult" show a little too much. I would have liked for them to have let the show stand on its own and not tried to force the mystery so much. The concept is interesting, but I'm worried that the show has already overcomplicated itself between everyone has a missing family member and everyone has something shady going on (disgraced reporter, former drug addict, cult member). Too much mystery can be a problem and it drives people away after a while, especially if questions don't get answered.

Another problem I had was I didn't really feel connected to the main characters. Jeff and Skye didn't have enough chemistry to be a great investigative duo. I'm not sure about Jeff and Nick's relationship, it seemed to be really weak for something that the show is rooted in. I wished they had taken time to develop the characters and pull back on trying to show how mysterious the show is. This is where I think the show should have taken a page out of "Harper's Island" book and focused more on the characters getting drawn into the murderous plot instead of there are a bunch of crazy, evil people killing for the cult. As of right now, I'm interested in what is going on with the show, but I'm not invested in any of the characters (beyond the actors playing them). I don't know, but for a lot of mystery shows, like "Pretty Little Liars" or "Lost," I only stuck with the never-ending or ever being answered questions because of the characters.

Matt Davis did alright, but I totally miss the chemistry between him and Ian Somerhalder. Their bromance on "The Vampire Diaries" was wonderful and if Matt Davis and James Pizzinato (Nick) had had half the chemistry of those two, I would be hooked. (It will be interesting to see James Pizzinato tomorrow on "Supernatural." He reminded me of Andy's brother, Ansen Weems.) I'm not completely sold with Jessica Lucas. Once again, I find myself comparing the chemistry between Matt Davis and her to his chemistry with Sara Canning on "The Vampire Diaries" (I really miss Alaric!). I don't know, especially if they are planning any type of relationship between Jeff and Skye.

It was wonderful to see Aloha Tal. I thought she did the best she could, but it has to be difficult to create a character when there are only fragments of a story to work with. I was hoping we would get to see the actress side and not just the "Cult" character. Robert Knepper was creepy, but he lack the charisma of a true cult leader. I get that he is the "bad guy," but why is he the guy people are blinding following and killing for? Where is the charm? I hope they dial back on the dark creepy part.

But I had to suspense the MOST DISBELIEF that the CW would use Robert Knepper's Billy Grimm to promote the show? Posters, everywhere? The CW promoting a cult show? Not objectifying the actors? The CW promoting A CULT SHOW? Seriously? Because CW shows with massive fan-followings don't typically get a whole lot of promotion or posters that don't look like someone decided to use every option on Photoshop. Maybe that's the biggest secret of all? The fans do the promotional work for the show and when they try to take credit, they get killed!!

I think the show would have been better served as a mini-series instead of a series. It would have helped to keep the mystery and characters focused instead of the writers trying to make sure every door was opened. It will be interesting to see if the next episode, but I don't think the show is going to last. Personally, I wondering if all the episodes are going to air. I hope so.

  6. Somewhere between "Okay" and "Great" - I voted for the latter because I quite liked it overall. The premise is full of potential, the visuals are awesome so far, and I like the cast. I’m definitely interested to see where it goes. I didn't find it quite as creepy as I’d hoped, but I think the promos spoiled too much for that (the part where Miriam shoots herself could’ve been shocking and disturbing if I didn't know it was coming). The next few episodes should tell us more about the show, because the series premiere doesn't reveal much we didn't already know from the synopsis and promos. Right now, though, I’m definitely along for the ride. Ambitious, high-concept shows like this are too rare, and that alone is reason enough to give Cult a chance.

  7. I agree people are comparing it to the following but not because the following is better. The following has horrible acting and stands on gore alone while cult has good acting that holds your attention. The only things good about the following is kevin bacon as the lead male, personally i don't like him, but he is the only reason most people started watching the show to begin with.

  8. I love it how fanboys and trolls destroy each pool. I bet that if you'd create "Do you like the Kardashians show" poll awesome and great would still have the majority.

  9. The only reason I am giving this show a chance is because of Matt Davis. So far it was not to bad, I can see where they could go with it. I stick around for a couple more episodes to see where it goes.

  10. I'm intrigued. I hope that more people will give it a chance. Middle of the season new shows have it very rough, which really sucks for shows like this which have potential (great show premise, new and different).

  11. I really enjoyed it. Not quite amazing, but it was getting there. TV has been sorely lacking in non-procedural mystery and well-hidden clues lately, but this really delivered.

Also, because of how prominently the car's license plate was displayed at the end of the episode, I Google'd it and learned that it's the exact same make, color, and license plate as a car from the movie "Duel". There are three options for why this could have been included: 1) it literally was the same car as from the movie "Duel" and they didn't bother to change out anything about it, 2) it was included because it was a significant car in a cult movie, or 3) it's one of the secret messages or whatever that the in-show Cult show was said to include in every episode; this could be one of Cult's hidden messages somehow. I just don't know what it could mean.

I'm also interested in seeing if we get payoff from that line about "...what Billy said to ??? in episode 9". I don't remember who they said he talked to, but it would be very interesting to see if Billy does say something important to another character in our episode 9 of the show.
