Fantastic ep! Really enjoyed the circumstances that Castle finally meets his father/Alexis’s grandfather. Very much reminded me of the “Taken” movie and loved the shout outs to the movie and to the Ashley Judd series from last season as well (can’t recall the title right now). Obviously this sets up that we can possibly see Father Castle again… James Brolin was fantastic as was Christopher Heyerdahl…. Loved this ep
The last seven minutes where they plan out the escape while it's happening, instant goosebumps. Gotta hand to Marlowe and Amann on another well executed Castle 2 parter. Now I guess I'll rewatch the series for the next three weeks. Network TV problems...lol
I'm mesmerized at how Marlowe and his writing team managed to balance the inmensity of the case and the personal side of the characters. We didn't only learn things about Castle, but about Beckett as well.
For me this was the best two parter so far! Kept me on the edge of my seat at all times!
This episode was so awesome!! i loved it, it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole episode! James Brolin needs to come back! I'd love to see how Martha and his dad interact with each other!
Actually, for me, it WAS every bit as spectacular as part one, which was no small feat! All the scenes with James Brolin were just amazing, and the whole end - the plan to get Alexis out, the reveal of Castle's last conversation with his father, the return home, the package... Quite simply perfect.
I feel like we should have gotten a part three. I feel like the writers didn't have enough time to fully explore this whole Castle's father is an intelligence asset story.
yes, it wasn't as awesome, but mainly IMHO because a ~43 epi isn't enough time for such a big reveal with so many questions and consequences to follow. But hopefully this opens up a lot mining for the writers dig through. A total of 85+ minutes isn't enough, this easily could have been a 3-parter with parts 2 & 3 broadcast in sequence!!!
Agreed part two seemed a little rushed. Not to say it wasn't a Fantastic episode!
It would be great if they could bring Jame Brolin back to help with the Kate/Senator Bracken storyline. Unlikely, but I do think they'll have to bring back Castle's father eventually.
On a different note I love that Jack Coleman also plays a Senator in "the Office" even if it is just a State Senator haha.
I agree, it was a fabulous episode! I just feel this should have been a three-parter, there was so much more to be told! Loved James Brolin, hope he returns! And, again, AMAZING acting!
Not a fan, there were no nods to "Taken", this was essentially "Taken"....the same set up-Paris, 2 girls kidnapped, dad flies out, liaison with a French official of sorts, that whole "I will find you" monologue (in this case by the merc) etc...., out of the entire maybe 85 mins worth of 2 episodes, only the last 15 mins were original material, must say...I'm sorely disappointed.
I enjoyed the show, I loved the emotion showed by all the characters. That being said, I thought the episode itself was very predictable. Not as much Castle danger as I would of thought. Also, I think the time between Castle and his dad was rushed. I think the one of the best parts of the episode was Beckett kicking that girl off the chair...that was the only part that actually surprised me. I hope that when they continue the season they don't move Alexis and Castle along like nothing happened, you don't get over that kind of trauma overnight.
Incredibly good, fascinant, intense and full of mystery...!!! Although "TARGET", was much better because the adrenaline was in full swing. The two partners are always the top of season @ 100% congratulations 2 the cast/ crew & Andrew Marlowe/ Terri Edda Miller. ....BRAVO...STANDING OVATION ,,,. GO CASTLE GO...!!! We will wait patiently for the next episode, until then over and out. With a quote from Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) American statesman and scientist. "Whoever has patience, get what you want ". CASTLE.. CASTLE... CASTLE...!!!!
Liked part one better,in part one their was more tension whereas in part two we all knew she was going to be found safe...They should have made it into 3 parts, this way they could have explored the farther son relationship a bit more and they could have kept up the suspense while trying to find Alexis.
According to Andrew Marlowe, that was ABC's decision. Guess they didn't want to make it a surprise. Which I think the episode would've been even better than it was if they hadn't released that information.
I agree! I loved the episode but it went by so fast! I know Castle's dad is a spy but I wish father and son had gotten more time to talk and we had gotten to know him better. Maybe that just means that they will bring him back one day.
Can Castle go be a spy? The NYPD seems so pedestrian now. I think it was more ambitious than excellent, but I'm rewarding ambition. No Castle is stupid relationship drama really helped. I'm over that. Really good 2-parter. And I love Castle and Alexis. Fun, fun, fun.
LOVED the episode! Yes, it was obvious that Alexis was gonna be safe (usually is when this happens), but that didn't make it any less suspenseful getting there. My only problems were that we didn't get to see Castle spend more time with his dad and we didn't get to see Castle tell Martha and Beckett about his dad (not that there wasn't enough Caskett and not that the Caskett kiss at the end was in the dark as all have been). I'm looking forward to seeing how knowing his dad and this whole ordeal will impact Castle, Caskett, and Martha and Alexis.
I loved both parts. I thought both parts balanced all elements correctly...just enough Caskett, plenty of drama, and plenty left for our imaginations. I do hope they explore Alexis's feelings about it at some point. It would be great bc KB has also gone through PTSD and that would be a good way to get them more screen time together. I also want James Brolin back at some point. I assume he will come back at some point, just like Johanna and I am sure it will be a dramatic episode everytime he does just like the Mom/Bracken eps. I loved Bad ass Beckett and the emotion shown by Castle and Alexis. I do wonder when it is going to come out that Gates knows...there was no time for it in the two parter but it was obvious she knows. I hope they address it and not just let us use our imagination there. Penny is a great actress.
Great two-parter, though still not my favorite of the series. I just loved seeing Nathan Fillion's range across the two episodes. He's truly fantastic.
Wonderful acting by Nathan again with such sweet moments for Castle and his dad and the whole family at the end. Not to mention kick ass Beckett in interrogation again, sent the girl flying.
I honestly can't remember an ep of Castle that I enjoyed more. The middle two act outs were amazing. Loved James Brolin as Castle's dad...and what an introduction "You're so worried about that $200 phone you might want to pick up that 3 million dollars." JUST I was was thinking that it was really cool that Rick decided to hire an expert to help him find Alexis.....the expert put a gun to Rick's head. I knew Rick's getting caught was part of the plan..I just never considered the bomb was in the walkie talkie. When we got to the end I really really wanted to see the scene where Rick told his mom about his dad. I know why it wasn't there but man I wanted to see it. Awesome episode for me.
It felt to me like they wrote a 2 hour single episode. Most of the time 2 parters feel to me like the two episodes are built such that the two episode both have the single episode rhythm (hope that makes sense) I didn't get that feeling here...
I think we're going to get part three but at another time. This was a high octane introduction to who Castle's father *is*. I'd bet money that the plan is to bring him back later in the season where we'll get the scenes where Castle gets to say what he couldn't in this episode. I think it they'd added it *here* it would have killed the momentum of the "Alexis is kidnapped" story.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteIt wasn't as awesome as part one, but I still loved it! Loved Castle hunting down Alexis with his biological father's help.
ReplyDeleteAnd the end was cute with the Castle/Beckett hug. Gates has to know by now, by the way. They're not hiding their relationship very well at all.
Great episode!
Double Awesome! Nathan Fillion,Stana Katic, Andrew Marlowe : Standing Ovation
ReplyDeleteThe last seven minutes where they plan out the escape while it's happening, instant goosebumps. Gotta hand to Marlowe and Amann on another well executed Castle 2 parter. Now I guess I'll rewatch the series for the next three weeks. Network TV problems...lol
ReplyDeleteBest. Episode. Ever! Oh! I say this every time! But now, is best episode ever, ok?
ReplyDeleteI'm mesmerized at how Marlowe and his writing team managed to balance the inmensity of the case and the personal side of the characters. We didn't only learn things about Castle, but about Beckett as well.

I didn't know Christopher Heyerdahl would be in this episode so I was pretty happy when he showed up.

ReplyDeleteEvery week becomes the next best episode. lol
ReplyDeleteDoes it have the option "most amazing episode ever"?
ReplyDeleteActually, for me, it WAS every bit as spectacular as part one, which was no small feat! ReplyDeleteBravo, Marlowe & Co.! Bravo!
I loved the episode! I hope they bring Brolin back in the future.
ReplyDeleteGreat episode,, I new the ending already but it was a fun ride on these two episodes.
ReplyDeleteGreat episode I loved the Jackson / Rick interaction.
ReplyDeleteI hope for the Season Finale.

hahahaha it was called "Missing".
ReplyDeleteYeah I think they released it too early that James Brolin was going to play Castle's father.
ReplyDeleteI preferred Hunt over Target!
ReplyDeleteThis episode was so awesome!! i loved it!!

ReplyDeleteVery touching scene with Castle and his dad and really liked the hugs with Alexis and Kate. Very well written and acted as usual.
