  1. Um, Regina, no. You've raped, kidnapped, and murdered people. Pretty sure that makes you evil. But I do support you trying to redeem yourself!

  2. Yeah, no. You're evil. Killing, framing and manipulating kinda cements that for you.

  3. That's just delusional.

  4. Word. Plus let's not forget that even if Snow did sort of betray Regina;s trust (though she was but a child) it was Cora the mother of the year that completely destroyed any chance of Regina ever having an happy ending.

Which reminds me, will we ever get a decent way to resolve Daniel's parting words to her? "Then love again?" I think Regina needs somebody else besides Henry to keep her on the straight and narrow.

  5. Sure, sure Regina, keep telling yourself that.

  6. I wonder who she is talking to? But Regina was more good in the past before she was the Queen but I personally will never see any character as good or evil because in reality everyone both fictional and real is neutral and working towards their own personal goals/ the goals of their group.

  7. Lol, either Regina is delusional on this or totally trolling Snow, the second would be more hilarious.

  8. This just reminds me that the Regina we saw before Daniel's death was the most pure of heart, virtuous, maybe even flawless, character on the entire show.

I honestly believe the writers are toying with the "good" and "evil" labels on purpose, and the underlying idea is that those labels are only a matter of perception and not very realistic - it's too bad that the message is not getting across to everyone in the same way. Instead of seeing the ambiguity of human nature, a lot of viewers take the good/evil labels at face value.

It's hypocritical, though, that only certain characters (mostly Regina) are attacked for being "evil", while the majority of people turn a blind eye to the flaws of the rest. Sure, Graham's a fan favourite, but that doesn't change the fact that he was "adept at murder, bereft of mercy" and he killed a person for calling his wolf "a pet". Ironically, he considered himself "honourable". The Mad Hatter loves his daughter, but he is also greedy and self-serving, prepared to do anything for anyone if the price is right, he helped Rumple abuse Regina's mental instability after Daniel's death to turn her into a monster, he helped Regina get the poison apple to kill the Saviour. The point is, all characters have done some pretty horrible things. The way their friends or foes evaluate them is clearly not objective, and is not intended to be taken at face value.

So I'd say Regina's statement is not novel to the show. In the same way, Charming and Snow claim they're good, but let's face it, people are not nearly that one-dimensional and easy to define.

  9. Wow, so people are taking this literally? And not as a rhetorical device to try to make someone see another perspective, really? Hasn't Regina's main thing been that she gets what she's doing is wrong and even when she does it for the right reasons, she still knows it's wrong. Which is in stark contrast to Snow who likes to believe she's good and just while doing similar things to Regina and needs to justify all the bad things she does by somehow making them good.

Plus you don't actually need to be 'good' to use a rhetorical device and make a statement about it. :S

  10. I dunno, she's always been pretty upfront about how she's acted but she also thinks Snow is a hypocritical idiot, so it's probably Snow.

  11. The thing is this is out of context, which makes it very hard to know who Regina is talking to (probably Snow, yes) and what her intentions are.
Anyway, for people who think "Regina is an awful person, she's as evil as it gets", try to understand she might be saying she did all those horrible things, but she herself is or was good. Regina at the very beginning of her life was good and it was good things that kept her going, until Rumple crushed all of her hopes of ever getting Daniel back.
Btw, this is the very same thing Snow keeps telling her over and over again.
Again, does it excuse what she did? No. But it's interesting to know she might believe she is good, or at least a part of her is, because that's the only way she can ever change.

  12. Makes me think of " Based on what we saw here, Episode 15: “The Queen Is Dead” will reveal some very interesting backstory. " from the Miller's Daughter teasers. There are so many things we haven't seen about Regina yet . There are pretty big gaps between killing that first girl and Leopold and then Henry Sr. So maybe we get to hear some of that.

  13. It truly is slightly absurd how the Huntsman has been turned into martyr by the fandom. He was the first character to bite the dust, he was the main character's first flirt on the show, and he looked pretty and all of this feeds into why he is perceived as the embodiment of innocence murdered by evil, but it's a twisted perception. He was hired because he was known to be a skilled and down-and-dirty murderer. He didn't deserve what happened to to him, but he wasn't this pure good figure he's now made out to be either.

  14. Well said, couldn't agree more! I often try and argue this point that these characters all have flaws and are all very human characters and that it's not fair to just blame or label any one of them for the entirety of the situations, as they all have experienced pain and have all felt helpless and have all helped to build the path that lays before them. It's not necessarily anyone of there faults, but now is the time for second chances and realizing previous mistakes made. I could never just root for one character alone, because they have all been written to convey simple truths about human nature as you have so well explained!

  15. I think it's hard to understand, because we don't know "how" she's saying it and to what end she's saying it. (I think she might be talking to Snow) I mean I think obviously she was given said label, because she did do 'evil' things, so if she is saying this line "seriously", then it shows a great deal of delusion and that she has fallen back to her old ways...but I do think Regina has come a long way in short period of time and would like to think she's play-acting here to make it look like she's her old self to please someone else (her mother)...

  16. Am I the only one thinking this might be Regina's quote from the flashbacks?

  17. For some reason I got a vibe that she is talking to Rumples in this, cause he was the one that taught her everything, but I think they are still in NY at this point. It's probably Snow then.

  18. It could be, but because she bringing up a label "already" cemented/coined by the person she is talking to, I think it makes more sense that she's in the present referring to the past and making a [long over due] point to her side of the argument.

But to support you, it's possible that someone was trying to build Regina's reputation. Rumple knows (via visions of 'the future') who had to enact the curse and those visions might come with the pre-text of someone referring to Regina as an "evil" Queen...

Although the Seer said we can't change the future in the Once Universes, I think we'd be wise not to whole heartedly feed into that just yet. For all we know there might be certain people and/or certain magic that would allow for alternate futures to made. -But so far we have no proof of contesting it, but this line Regina spouts, especially if it was BEFORE she became evil, might be paving the way for that...let alone if someone is "truly" evil just because they have moments of darkness???
