Dallas - Episode 2.05 - Trial and Error - Preview

Previously on Dallas: After shooting Harris Ryland, Ann Ewing let Bobby take the blame for the shooting for less than an episode and just when we think Ann will take the blame that she deserves….. Old Harris wakes up and points the finger at Bobby. Meanwhile on the other side of the family, John Ross has betrayed his father once again and has spoken with the evil Cliff Barnes.

Now on Dallas: This episode focuses primarily on the aftermath of the Harris Ryland shooting with only minimal amounts of the infamous J.R. Ewing. I suspect/hope that we see a lot more of him in the next episode as I believe his last episode is coming up very soon. While quickly skipping the obvious “Obstruction of Justice” charge that Bobby would be facing in the real world, Ann is put on trial for the attempted murder of her ex-husband. Of course, Bobby is confident as can be that no jury will side with Harris. I found this especially interesting, because if I was on that jury I would convict her in all of 2 seconds. Also of interest in the courthouse is that we see Vincente (Carlos Bernard) awaiting trial. But, I’ll leave the rest of that for tonight. On the Ramos side of things, Elena might want to watch her back. In the last few episodes we have met her brother and he is clearly not an angel. We are going to get a taste of the “trouble” he gets himself into, even though it’s not entirely his fault.

On the much more interesting and all-together-better other side of the family, JR battles with his son’s betrayal. Sue Ellen says he should immediately forgive him, but J.R. is not convinced. While the majority of the episode focuses on the trial, I found JR’s story line to be much more entertaining. Maybe it’s just because I know that the late Larry Hagman won’t be playing JR Ewing much longer. God knows, we’ll miss him.

Favorite Quote of the Episode:

“You don’t need my wrath either. We dinosaurs are known to bite” – JR Ewing

Important Notes of the Episode:

Harris Ryland’s mother is a total freak.

Vincente will obviously return. (Glenn Morshower & Carlos Bernard from 24 reunite! Maybe they can have a scene with Annie Wersching later this season.)

John Ross still doesn’t know who he’s dealing with in his father.

Rating: 9/10
