HBO is not moving forward with its high-profile James Gandolfini project.
The premium cable network that made its name in originals on the actor's long-running drama, The Sopranos, has opted against ordering his latest drama pilot, Criminal Justice, to series. The latter, an adaptation of Peter Moffat's 2008 BBC crime drama, had Gandolfini on board to star.

That's too bad,i was looking forward to this..
ReplyDeleteGreat decision years ago shows about cops and the mob were the best new thing but now they'll so over done. HBO is all about new creative shows not found on other networks. I'm sure enough network like NBC or CBS could use another criminal show, lol.

ReplyDeleteI'm personally glad HBO passed on this. I know it's too much to hope for but every 3-4 years HBO should try to put on a show at least tinged with some supernatural or science-fiction angle, because generally they are great at that when they actually do it. And as far as other shows are concerned, if HBO started pumping out crime dramas, of which there are literally dozens in production, I don't think I'd watch it unless the preview really blew me away.
ReplyDeleteWith their regular dramas I like the idea of new spins on family dramas, like SFU and Big Love.
What I'd really like to see on HBO is an action thriller, in the vein of Alias or something.
The first series of the British version was pretty amazing but I'm not really sure there needs to be another remake/adaptation.
