LONDON – UKTV, the multi-channel network operator owned by BBC Worldwide and Scripps Networks Interactive, has inked a deal for two seasons each of ABC Studios' shows Castle and Body of Proof.
The pay-TV operator has snapped up exclusive pay TV rights to the fresh seasons of both from Disney U.K. and Ireland for its channel Alibi. Castle season 5 and 6 ???? what??? :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteseason 6 of Castle? It's not even been decided yet if there will be a 6th season.
ReplyDeleteJeez Spoilertv. You guys are horrible with the facts lately. Check your resources!!!!!!!
The deal is probably for when both shows will be renewed.
ReplyDeleteReally, season four? I didn't think BoP was going to make it that far, but I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I know a 6th season of Castle hasn't been confirmed yet, but to be fair - check this website, it's clearly the source for the little snippet above by spoilertv : http://uktv.co.uk/network/item/aid/655828 Either the press release by UKTV is partially wrong/poorly written or they DO know something we don't know yet... Or maybe they meant to write they brokered the deal with Disney for S5 and a POTENTIALLY S6 of Castle.
ReplyDeleteUmm Hollywood Reporter is a highly reliable source in case you didn't know.
ReplyDeleteThis confuses me too though, neither Castle n Body of Broof have been renewed for their 6th and 4th seasons. Maybe it shows a good chances for renewals of these shows?? Would be awesome!
Just means that if Castle is renewed they have a deal made, for that season too. Otherwise, they only have a deal for season 5. So it's all potential, ABC still hasn't made decisions about the shows.
ReplyDeleteSeasons five and six of Castle??OMG,I'm sooo happy!!
ReplyDeleteWhile this is good news for both shows, it is not a guarantee (although I would be pretty surprised if Castle wasn't renewed). Last year, CSI Miami had just landed a valuable syndication deal for its upcoming season and it was still axed. There are other factors at play. This just means that, if the shows are renewed, they will have this deal waiting for them. However, even if not a guarantee, it certainly helps their renewal chances, especially in BoP's case, because I doubt the ratings will be there for the renewal.
ReplyDeleteI think both already aired on Alibi anyway and probably did quite decently so Alibi are basically just ensuring that if there are any further seasons of these shows then they will get to continue airing them. Other Channels like Sky Living or Five probably would have pounced otherwise, both already air a lot of US shows.
ReplyDeleteHaving a deal to air future seasons doesnt neccessarily mean there will be the seasons (though I think in Castles case there will be a 6th season), I think they are in this case planning ahead. Same as actors can be in contract to star in a show for years but have it canned on them before the end.
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong that seeing the acronym BoP made me think of 'Birds of Prey' and gave me flashbacks to 2002?
ReplyDeleteI think they might just be willing to give the show's new format the same benefit of the doubt they gave the show in the first two seasons. Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised that there might be clause which factors in how much leeway they'll be giving for the US ratings.
