  1. I only watched 3 of those shows, and i did not enjoy the finale of Lost, so I voted for Friends. It was a really freat way to end a wonderful show.

  3. from these shows - Lost. Generally, series finale of Six Feet under is unbeatable. Best episode ever.

  4. Tops on my list Buffy, Charmed, Dollhouse and Ugly Betty. I voted for Buffy. Prison Break lost me somewhere mid season 3. I'm one of, what seems to be, only a few who liked the series end of Lost but I wouldn't say it was the best. Battlestar Galactica irritated me a bit.

  5. I watched all the series except Ugly Betty, but I did not get past Season 2 of DH....

Prison Break Friends, Charmed and Dolhouse were all shows I lost interest in after a couple seasons and while I did keep watching, the finales meant nothing to me and I do not recall them honestly.

IF Buffy had ended at Season 5 I would have picked that easily!
It was the perfect eheroic ending to the series and felt like the ideal way to end the series. The last 2 seasons were fun and entertaining but a let down in comparison honestly. It felt liek they were spinning their wheels in how to reboot the series and by the time they found their foundation they were trying to find a way to end the series and outdo the Season 5 finale.

I loved the BSG finale unlike many I have talked to. I thought it brought things full circle and it made me almost giddy knowing how much some people would hate it.

I enjoyed the LOST finale more thn many people. I was not cuaght up in getting answers to completely irrelevant answers so the conclusion was a nice ending to an incredible journey to me. It did not leave me confused and thinking that nothing happened or they all died at the start of the series etc....

For me LOST was an unexpected and perfect ending to one of the best series ever. Would I have changed a few things? Probably. Honestly though I loved the way it all wrapped up.

  6. Battlestar Galactica.Unlike most people I loved the finale.
I agree that the last season wasn't as good as the first three but I was far from disappointed.I found the finale bittersweet but definitely fitting.
BSG is in my Top 5 favorite shows.

  7. Yes, Six feet under should be on the list. Great finale!

  8. There are three of my favorite shows of all time on this list with Lost, Battlestar Galactica and Prison Break. I liked the prison break finale a lot, it gave closure on all characters and i understood why they had michael dying, it made sense to me. Lot of action as well, as the series had us used to. Then there was battlestar galactica, possibly my second favorite series of all time... I loved the finale, unlike a lot of people. It was not perfect, and some things were hard for me to buy. I did not like the way they handled Starbuck and left us hanging a bit too much and i didnt like how everyone went along with lee's proposal to leave all technology behind (i feel they should have had an accident and lost the ships by accident or something... the end result would have been the same and it would not have been so contrived... and they could even have lee make the same speech about how it was not such a big deal to loose the stuff and all that). But apart from these "details", i loved the grand scheme of things and the whole revelation that they were our ancestors. A close to perfect finale for a close to perfect series. The scene with Athena, Hello and Hera walking in the new earth is perfect for me, not to mention laura dying in the arms of adama. Then there is Lost. This is my favorite series of all time and nothing has came close of making me feel the same kind of devotion to a tv show has lot did. Its finale, although the most polarizing ever amongst the fandom, was perfect to me. Sure, some details were left unexplained (but these were not as much as people then made them out to be), but i felt a lot of closure and i loved the mystical explanation for the meaning of the island. I do agree that, at parts, the writers put themselves into a corner, but i would argue that was more in interviews and stuff than on the actual show. I do agree with them though that some things just have to be accepted. Like they used to say, you cannot ask "what is the force" on start wars, you just have to accept that is there. Here, you could not ask exactly what were those mystical properties of the island. Their mistake, imo, was keep making it look like new and new players had the answers. Ben, then Widmore, then Richard, then Jacob, then Jacob's mother... It was a bit too much. But finale wise, it gave me a total sense of closeness and i adored it. It is actually my favorite episode from the entire series and i loved how it felt like full circle from day 1. Besides, Jack Shephard is my favorite character ever and he was given the shine on the finale. Short and simple, because honestly, no one else is reading by now, I have voted for Lost

  9. The Charmed end was great! It was really, really good!

  10. Charmed finale was amazing!! Loved seeing all the old faces!!

  11. Lost for sure (most comment finale of the history), after Desperate Housewives (amazing finale), Battlestar Galactica (just fantastic), Friends and Prison Break.

  12. Voted for Lost, it's one of my favorite finales ever!

  13. Lost would win in any poll for me...i also really enjoyed the series finale of Buffy,Dollhouse,Friends and Battlestar Galactica.

  14. People shouldn't talk about series finales without mention Six Feet Under's.

The Shield had one of the best finales of any series I've ever seen. The end, where Mackey realizes he's living in the purgatory he's created for himself is just perfect.

  16. So that's what short and simple looks, and reads like! ;)

  17. Lost,it had the perfect ending to a great series. Then comes BG,then Prison Break.

  18. For me it's LOST. The Island was saved, it housed collective conscience that served as a bridge, "It Only Ends Once, Everything Before that is just Progress" = Death isn't the end of anything, as long as there is an Island with it's cork in tact. Facing existentialism was really about life extension and we can rest assured that the characters that moved on will be in a time line, that in comparison to the previous, is 'a better place', where they directly come together, are rewarded by new life (David), and don't have to directly deal with the Island. The FS had beautiful quantum mechanics to it: glimpse the future only to remember the past in order to move onto the future...

Bad Robot often has bittersweet ends that are hopeful. Can't believe the Fringe finale is at our doorstep!

  19. Where's Six Feet Under?? That show had the best finale EVER! But since it's not here I'm going with Battlestar Galactica.

  20. I actually hated the last 30 mins of BSG, but Caprica made me feel a bit better about it.

Ya. I would have like to see how Fringe holds up to the other shows...I still can't believe it's over...sigh.

  21. Friday Night Lights by far. It was quite perfect for me :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Buffy had a real sense of finality to it for me, there was something just really satisfyingly 'done' about it. Anything after that final episode would have been a different show even if they did leave it open to there potentially being more.
Roswell ended too abruptly for me, it sort of just all happened too quickly and without any real impact. But then by that point I didnt give a monkeys what happened to them all after they left Roswell.
Charmed had gotten ridiculous by the last season, I really didnt care by the time I got to watch the finale. It was cheesey, unimaginitive and anti climatic.

  23. It's not in the poll, but if it was,I would pick The L.A.Complex.''We made sth''.
And of course tsc deserves to me mentioned too.
I voted for Ugly Betty. It was a sweet ending and it left the door open for Betty/Daniel.

  24. How did i miss you? I thought i read everything! I can see Rick now saying "I hated that ending,I'll never re-watch it",ha!

Lost was a phenomenal series and the ending was perfect! Sometimes i wonder if JJ knows something we all know nothing about, not now anyway. We have Spielberg making movies of child wonderment,we have Bad Robot showing us what lies beyond..

I can't believe Fringe is almost over either.. :( Fridays hastag for ep 5.12 is #KeepLookingUp.Fox is keeping the hastag a secret for the finale until it airs... Our last FringeFriday (sobbing away) )

  26. Lost and Friends.

  27. Can't I pick all of them? But really, Battlestar Galactica and Dollhouse were a tie for me, VERY closely followed by Buffy, but I went with BSG because of all of the emotional heaviness of the episode and because it is the culmination ot an 80-episode endpoint search, while Dollhouse was a bit too much "Let's finish this down" and Buffy was a bit less about the characters(which of course didn't stop me from bawling like a baby at Anya's 1 second-death) and more about the First Evil(honestly, as emotions go, I liked the first "series finale", the fifth season one, but did like Season 6&7 better as a whole).

    ReplyDelete
  28. I actually voted for Dollhouse--not my favorite series, but a LOT of potential and potential that was partially reflected in the season and series finales--so good. Buffy's cookie dough crap was the chocolate chip on top of a few less than stellar seasons. And BSG--how did I love you? so much--but the finale ruined it. Ruined it. Series finales have to pay off all the stringing you along stories, when writers refuse to give you that payoff I never forgive them and sometimes it can retroactively reflect on your opinion of the show. Things like disappearing Starbuck retroactively killed a show I was obsessed with. Years later and I still feel betrayed.

  29. Of these shows, I had a hard time deciding between Battlestar Galactica and Charmed.

Battlestar Galactica did a great job creatively in terms of overall story arc that culminated in the finale. It was one of the few shows that had a clear creative plan throughout the series run, and wrapped up the story in line with how the show had been written all along. It had consistency, and an almost poetic 'circle of life/evolution' aspect to it, in the re-evolution of machines (shown at the end). I'll always appreciate it for the way they kept to their original plan & story, even till the end.

Charmed did one of the better jobs in resolving the storylines in the end, showing the (happy & hopeful) futures of all the Charmed sisters, their children, and the future of magic. I never liked that 'ultimate battle against evil' storyline that took over much of the last season, and the main plot of the series finale. However, by the end, I was left feeling like these characters I came to care about, did end up with happy endings after all.

Regarding a few others and why I didn't choose them...

Buffy - I felt that they already ended Buffy back when she died in place of her "sister". The big battle at the Hellmouth school was climactic, but didn't feel as "happy with a bow tied on top", like the Charmed series finale. I was sad that Anya died, that Angel wasn't there fighting with Buffy in that big battle, and generally felt like I just fought that battle with them, which was "tired".

Lost - Was everybody all that happy with that ending? I think in terms of story resolution, the finale for Lost did a good job in answering all the questions. But, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to feel hopeful & happy that everybody seems to have made it out of limbo? finally & got to heaven (or did I get that confused?). I never really watched this show fully, only catching parts of an episode here and there, when my friends had it on. I guess I can't comment too much on this one.

  30. I know it is very controversial but I will love the Lost finale till my dying days.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Not controversial at all. I loved it as well.

So did most Lost fans. Unfortunately people seem to think that the majority hated it, which is not the case.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks for detailing why you liked those three shows! It was an interesting read, and gave insight into a fan's thoughts on each show. I'm always curious why people like certain shows, but not everybody goes to lengths to explain it. Just wanted to let you know I appreciated your post. Cheers!

  34. From the list I voted Ugly Betty, but I also liked the Friends, Dollhouse and Buffy finales.

Missing from the list? Angel, House..

  35. The ending for Battlestar Galactica was a total surprise to me.
Although I never watched most of Desperate Housewives, I did enjoy watching the finale.
In the end, I voted for Buffy.

  36. Buffy ending was awesome like Smallville, Charmed' one was too much emotional (ending without showing Halliwell's future would have been better). But BSG ending was awful, just like Enterprise : huge letdowns.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh thanks, I didn't think people would actually read it all ahah ;)

  38. ahah thanks for reading it ;)

  40. Yep.

I was losing interest in Season 1, but loved the Season 1 finale Epitaph 1 so much that I started watching Season 2 the following year. I kept watching, but never really got back into the series I guess.

  41. How about Six Feet Under? By far the best ending.

  42. Lost finale was one of the best episodes I've ever seen on TV.
