    Definitely Season 3 but the season finale ruined it. I did not want to see Stefan and Elena become a couple and I definitely didn't want Elena to be a vampire because all she'd do was whine about drinking blood. But all turned out for the best

    Have to go with Season One.


    Back then:
    - Plots made sense and were exciting.
    - THere was actual character development.
    - Damon was more of a balanced realistic character with good and bad sides than current bipolar unlikeable mess.
    - The teasing of darker side of steffie's past was intriguing and great (and then they ruined it in S2 and S3 with whitewashing, excuses and lame ripper plotline)

    - Elena's character and the whole idea of them seemingly building up to her having ptsd over her parents' deaths had SO MUCH PROMISE and was intriguing. (and then they turned her into genuine bella swan mary sue in S2)

    - Twists actually felt twist-y and unexpected.
    - Deaths had some weight(although Bonnie was ignored as much as now)


    Its the only TVD season that I will ever respect.

    it's not even a contest... season 2, it was brilliant from the start up until the begging. the second half of season 1 was also on par with it, but i still liked season 2 better

    Hard to choose. Every season had her best and worst eps.
    I choose S2 because the path was clear. We got great new characters and the story started with Katerina and the werewolves and moved on to the originals, so it was always in motion (what you really can't say about S3). S1 was great too and it would be my 2nd choice. The characters and storyline were well defined and logical.
    S3 was the worst. Although the hybrids, ripper Stefan and the family were great, the repeated pattern of the gang trying to kill Klaus and failing was becoming annoying (and so predictable it got ridiculous) very fast.
    For S4 it's hard to say, it's barely midseason. It's good, but I can say it would be better without Klaus.

    I was between Seasons 1 and 2 in terms of favorite. I stopped watching after seeing the first few episodes of Season 3 though.

    Absolutely and not with a single second thought - season one! Season two was great until they killed Jenna, that was it for me. That was too much and seemed absolutely unneeded and just for the sake of plot development(and it got developed for worse). Season 3 was utter shit and I started watching season 4 and.. well, it's not the same. So, season 1 straight away!

    2 > 1 > 3 for me overall (the ranking would be slightly different if I could split up the seasons and rank by arcs instead of the seasons as a whole).


    Haven't seen any of 4 yet.

    Season Two. Tried to bring a friend on board to the show during season two so I pulled out my season one dvds... The first five episodes were so derivative and cliche laden that she kept asking me "*how* did you manage to fall in love with this show?" {when I was about to give up @ ep 6 they began the vampire reveal and I was curious as to how they were going to (continuing the cliched approach) continue to keep Elena from finding out what Stephan was...and they didn't do the cliched thing. She found out. That was different, my interest was piqued and they eventually hooked me. Season Three was also good but for me had an ending that left me less than satisfied. So, Season Two remains, for me, the strongest.

    I can't honestly vote for any one season. If you could combine the second half of season 2 with the first half of season 3, I'd vote for that as my favorite season.
