It's fair to say that NCIS has been on a pretty good roll lately.
I wasn't expecting NCIS to break the 21 million viewer mark last night, because the latest mini-arc of Ziva's father being killed had come to a close two weeks ago when the last episode aired. But I was proven very wrong indeed to find out from today's final ratings that last night's episode had earned a 3.8 rating, and a whopping 22.07 million viewers.
It's pretty well known now that the last episode of NCIS on January 15 broke the series record for the most watched episode albeit by only 10,000 viewers, with 22.86 million viewers tuning in. That was also the second time in series history that 22 million or more had tuned into an episode. Last night's episode became the third episode in series history to break the 22 million viewer mark.
This season is so far averaging a 3.45 rating and 19.31 million viewers from 13 episodes to date. Though last season averaged a 3.75 rating - 0.3 more than this season - this season is averaging slightly more viewers than last season's 19.23 million viewers. It's still rather early days yet with 11 episodes left of this season, but there's certainly a zero percent chance of the show getting canceled by CBS due to lack of ratings or viewers!
