The Following, Cult, Hannibal & Zero Hour. I expect at least 2 of these will be disappointing, but I plan on watching the first episode of all of them.
In the list : I'm looking forward to The Following and Hannibal (serial killers FTW!). Also, I might check out Deception, Red Widow and Zero Hour, hopefully they won't be huge flops.
Not on the list : I'm looking forward to House of Cards (Netflix), Hemlock Grove (Netflix), Orange is the New Black (Netflix), True Detective (HBO), Banshee (Cinemax), Sandbox (Cinemax), Rogue (DirecTV), Masters of Sex (Showtime), Ray Donovan (Showtime), Da Vinci's Demons (Starz), Rectify (Sundance), Top of the Lake (Sundance), Ripper Street (BBC Am), Orphan Black (BBC Am), Vikings (History), The Americans (FX), Bates Motel (A&E), Rewind (SyFy), Defiance (SyFy), Dracula (NBC) and Crossbones (NBC).
I feel like Cult is so ridiculous that I have to give it a shot. Also I love Alona Tal. Here's hoping it's better than everyone who has seen it says it is.
Excited for the following, cult, deception and zero hour, so I will check them out (Zero hour depends if abc puts it in the death slot or not, if it does i will skip it since i am tired of that game). I will check out Hannibal depending on ratings/reviews. From comedies (which i could not include in the poll since there were too many choices), 1600 penn and the goodwin games. Maybe how to live with your parents since i like Sarah Chalke (although she could have simply sticked around in cougar town).
I am more interested in all the shows not in the list that you mentioned!
In particular Orphan Black, Ripper Street, and the Americans... along with the Netflix series. Da Vinci's Demons is a must check out for me because of the legendary man in its title, but I have no idea how I will feel about the series itself.....
I'm curious about Crossbones Dracula, the Showtime series and Cinemax series, but I am not excited about any of them I guess. I love Elisabeth Moss and Liev Schreiber, but neither of their series pulls me in based on the little I have read about them.
From what I have read it is too high concept to work based on early screening of the pilot, but they have had time to edit or tweak things since then so who knows.....
I agree about Da Vinci's Demons. On one hand, there's potential for a great series, on the other hand there's Starz, its track record isn't glowing, and the accuracy to who Da Vinci really was promises to be vague. And just recently, they cancelled Boss and started to consider a Spartacus spin-off, that's not a step in the right direction.
I'm not particularly excited about Top of the Lake and Ray Donovan either, it's just that I trust Sundance and Showtime enough to have decent expectations from those shows.
I agree about Hannibal too. I think they have a really nice cast, but I am also not sure about it being on network TV. If it was cable and they could really be graphic, then I think it would have had a better shot.
Nice Poll! I think it's good so that we start talking about them and remembering that they're there. :DI also forgot that I wanted to check out the Goodwin Games. Thanks!
Cult. Brilliant premise that has a ton of potential, and a good cast. I just hope it doesn't end up being one big ridiculous mess - the critics really hated the pilot, but I'm going to give it a shot.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
How to live with your parents (for the rest of your life), only because I miss Sarah Chalke
ReplyDeleteme to but for me bacause brad garret

ReplyDeleteOthers not in the list that I would check out are 1600 Penn (NBC), Goodwin Games (Fox)
ReplyDeleteNot sure if Unforgettable (CBS) comes under midseason dramas because it has already aired a season.. Probably does. Anyway, that's mine.
ReplyDeleteThe Following. Love Kevin Bacon.
ReplyDeleteAs far as The Following goes, I don't watch anything with ugly ass Kevin Bacon in it.
ReplyDeleteThe Following and Hannibal, guess I like serial killers or something.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Hannibal goes, I don't watch anything with ugly ass Laurence Fishburne.
ReplyDeleteI do plan to check out:
ReplyDelete-Zero Hour
-Mistresses (for Alyssa Milano) This show has to be better than her last comedy.
-Cult (looking forward to seeing Matt Davis and Alona Tal)
I plan on watching The Following for sure and I have high hopes..
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by Hannibal and love the cast, but I'm just not sure it can work on network TV....
I will check out Red Widow and Zero Hour, but my expectations at renewal are not high for either series honestly.
Cult will be TERRRRRRIBLE, but I will be checking it out for laughs.
I may check out Golden Boy for Chi McBride as well, but it does not sound interesting to me from the little I have heard.

ReplyDeleteI'm most looking forward to Zero Hour though as it has been touted as the next LOST.
Don't we all!?
ReplyDeleteDo you think Zero Hour is too high concept? I hate that High concept series died with LOST, but I'm hoping that there is a resurgence.
ReplyDelete1600 Penn is a comedy, which is why it is not on this list of dramas, as is Goodwin Games.
ReplyDeleteI hate it too!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have read it is too high concept to work based on early screening of the pilot, but they have had time to edit or tweak things since then so who knows.....
I don't think much in the mid-season excites me that much...
ReplyDeleteI really look forward to The Following. It looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI´ll also check out Hannibal, for the cast and Cult. The Following is the only one I have high hopes for though.
I want to watch Red Widow because I like to see Radha Mitchell.
ReplyDeleteI might see the others on ABC or NBC depending on the schedule.
Omg I feel like such an idiot!

ReplyDeleteI also hate it! It's so sad!
