Out of these I have to go with Mandy Moore, she did great in one of the most emotional episodes Grey's Anatomy has ever done But I also love Justin Timberlake, I think he's doing a fantastic job as an actor (seriously what can't this guy do)
Will Smith-has conquered all, music, TV and movies. He was to be one of the best actors around when given the right script. The Pursuit Of Happiness is a stunning example of his talent.
I voted for Will (one of the most talented people in Hollywood and also seems like a nice guy and good family man) but I adore Reba and would watch her in anything (that I have access to. Although to see her on Broadway would be a great excuse for my first visit to NYC).
Off the top of my head we need to add Henry Rollins, Mark Wahlberg and Donnie Wahlberg,Mos Def, Common, DMX, Bjork, Chris Isaak, Tom Waits, Lyle Lovett, Harry Connick Jr.... so many more...
For me Common, Mos Def, Donnie Wahlberg and Henry Rollins would be at the top.
Of the choices, Will Smith or L.L. Cool J but there is course the hidden option of David Bowie. He was on a season of a tv show called The Hunger (no relation to the film of the same title he was also in) done by the Scott brothers in the early 2000s.
Henry Rollins in SoA, so great. But the guy has some talents other than music, for some parts. I really liked his stuff about electronic music from some stand-up he had.
Looking at my list I realized I left out a lot of people, definitely was unintentional...I honestly would pick all of them plus those i failed to list Vanessa Williams, Madonna, Mark Whalberg, Common, Q-Tip, Alicia Keys, Diana Ross, the list goes on and on and on
Difficult list to whittle down. My first pass went to Queen Latifah (I loved her as a rapper because she was one of only 1 or 2 female rap artists crying for young girls to respect themselves and demand respect.), Will Smith, and LL Cool J. I threw a dart and LL got my vote.
I didn't realize he'd been a singer. I always though he started his career acting, but my cousin informed me that he was in the group with Mark. I honestly never heard his name when that group was popular.
Of the choices, my favorites are Will Smith, LL Cool J, & Queen Latifah. I've liked their acting & characters in almost everything I've seen them in. "Last Holiday" with Queen Latifah has been rewatched about as much as other perennial holiday faves like "Home Alone", at my house.
Great idea for a poll though! I forgot a lot of the others too. Of the other singer-turned-actors people have listed, I like the acting by Vanessa Williams & Mark Walhberg (more than Donnie). I haven't watched some of the others in anything, so I can't comment on their acting.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
and reba mcentire
ReplyDeleteWhat about Justin Timberlake?
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah. I really liked her in Reba, though I don't think I've seen her in anything else.
ReplyDeleteIt's Smash not Smashed.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'll get it fixed. Looks like the person who submitted it got confused :)
ReplyDeleteShe's in "Miami Country" since a few weeks now - more or less a similar storyline to Reba but really nice.
ReplyDeleteI think you mean Malibu Country :)
ReplyDeleteWhere is Donnie Walhberg?
ReplyDeleteexactly ... shouldnt post before my 2nd coffe
ReplyDeleteHa, I'm on my 3rd lol
ReplyDeletereba
ReplyDeleteYeah, his performance in both The Killing Point and Band of Brothers where good. I found it strange not having him on the list.
ReplyDeleteMark Wahlberg.....

ReplyDeleteSmashed. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhere is Christian Kane? I chose LL Cool J, but I would have preferred to have voted for Christian Kane. He was a big name leave out.

ReplyDeleteOther: Tim Curry
ReplyDeleteVERY incomplete list.

Tim is incredible!
ReplyDeleteWas he musician or more musical theater though?
I honestly do not know too much about his early years before Rocky Horror.
None of the above? Though I have to admit I enjoy Justin Timberlake's movies much more than I thought I would haha
ReplyDeleteI think he was musical theatre turned solo artist turned actor. He had some great solo songs like Charge It and Workin' On My Tan.

ReplyDeleteLet's not forget Blue Bloods! But I was surprised he wasn't on the list.

ReplyDeleteI thought the list was restricted to actors that have done television. Though the list may still be incomplete.
ReplyDeleteYeah! Where is Donnie Wahlberg?
ReplyDeleteYou should do the Poll the other way round, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteIN fact, it was Donnie who helped to create New Kids On The Block
ReplyDeleteLL Cool J
ReplyDeleteIce-T!!!
