What a list of disappointing shows. I am going to vote for Justified instead as it has had Jeremy Davies (Faraday), Brad William Henke (Bram), Raymond J Barry (played Jack's granddad and in S4 Sam Anderson (Bernard) all guest star or reoccur.
Person of Interest. Emerson kills it every time. I'm hoping Ken Leung gets a more recurring role, too. I love his character.
Ringer is a surprising 2nd for me in this list. I actually quite enjoyed following that show and was sad it ended so soon. Revolution is getting better and better, but I'm still not entirely convinced about it.
FRINGE. It is like watching Lost from the perspective of the Dharma Initiative minus an Island. We constantly have gotten explanations for the "physical" aspects to what the characters experience, except for the final season, which IMO is to be expected, as the last season is set up like 'a magical mystery tour'. IMO, because Lost is reference and both shows dance around similar subject matter, I feel strong that one who didn't understand Lost could apply concepts presented in Fringe (white tulip, multiple universes, and 'pocket universes') and better understand Lost. The cast is superb and has a great mythology with extremely well developed characters.
Person of Interest - Michael Emerson continues to shine and what I love about Bad Robot is when actors on one show come back to play a big role in another, they tend to play a juxtaposition to their former roles, as Ben and Harold are both intelligent, distinguished wealthy, important men trying to do an important job, but at the same time Ben's need for authority costs others their lives and the character only towards the end of Lost comes away with a sense of remorse, where Harold is almost like seeing an aftermath of Ben, as he realizes what he has created hurts people and is spending his life trying to protect people.
Once Upon A Time - No show takes the best from LOST and Fringe conceptually, but also thematically is banking on 'expectation' factor featured in Felicity. It's full of Bad Robot alumni, easter eggs, and major riffs and like always I love empirical explorations. It's a fun show that has the capacity to go anywhere!
Revolution - Love the concept and we're just starting to know the cast. It has that adventure/factions of people feel of Lost, but a protagonist like a young untrained Sydney Bristow. It started out rocky, but episode six turned a corner and now it feels much stronger. It also seems to have some spill-over ideas from Alcatraz (Madsen -->Matheson + "silver weapons')
Hawaii Five-0 -It's Alias without the 'fringe' elements, but with a LOST setting. Orci and Kurtzman have done a great job with reimaging this series. I'm a season behind, but it's something I enjoy catching up on over the summer.
Alcatraz - Love the concept and THE CAST! So sad this didn't work out, but between 4 pilots shot, putting a sci-fi show midseason, only giving it 13 episodes, not getting more into the life/back story of female lead Rebecca Madsen sooner, and the Fringe final season negotiations, I guess I should have saw red earlier.
I put Hawaii Five-O. I would have preferred to vote for Supernatural as Mark Pellegrino has been on there all of seasons 5 and 7. I really like him. I figure he will be back.
went with once upon a time, but i don't think i actually prefer it to scandal, it depends. but it is much more similar to lost than scandal and the whole "castmember from lost" is more felt there than it ever was on scandal also, so went with it
Well said, and i agree, but i have to say i don't see Alias in H50 at all.I loved H50 the first season, second season was good but the season finale basically did me in.This season i couldn't care less if i miss an episode,i guess the shine of the first season wore off, where as with Alias the second and third season was as good as the first..
They both are family conspiracies in relation to special branch of law enforcement (Like Sydney, Steve finds out his mom is "alive" and is involved in a special group because 'a loved one' was murdered) But Hawaii Five-0 tries harder to be procedural and mainly takes place on the Island (where Sydney and gang globe trot in every episode) Terry O Quinn uniquely is in a similar role as his Alias agent Kendal (sp?), but also a juxtaposition to John Locke/Man in BLACK with the name and authoritative status, Joe WHITE.
Person of Interest, followed by Fringe, OUaT, and Ringer. I also really liked Jeremy Davies in Justified and Dan in H5O. I never watched 666, but I'm sure Terry was terrific.
Yay for OUaT being number one! And while I don't watch POI, I get why it's second: the promos that I see while watching my CBS shows (of which there are a lot) look great. There's just something about it that didn't interest me.
I voted for Scandal because it's the only show from that list I watch. But actually Henry Ian Cusick who was a part of that show left after first season and I still miss him, I really liked his character.
I would have voted Justified too for Jeremy Davies (Faraday) as Dickie Bennet and let's not forget Brad William Henke (he played Bram on Lost in Season 5/6) as his brother Coover Bennett too!
Also in Season 1 we had MC Gainey (Tom Friendly) as Bo Crowder, in Season 3 of Justified we had William Mapother (Ethan) as Delroy the pimp, I think I'm forgetting one LOSTie too honestly......
Ken Leung is great! You just know that character was written for him (even if it wasn't). Only he could play such a resourceful pain in the ass type character. :p
Person of Interest, all the way! Both Emerson and Chapman were on Lost and we have seen several 'persons' of interest from that show as well on PoI. Best show on TV!
Well the only show i watch at the moment is Hawaii (surprised Ringer is even on this list lol) but I would have voted Vampire Diaries! Though I never watched lost.. I would watch it for Ian Somerhalder!
Easily Person of Interest. Once Upon a Time is next, though the disparity between the two shows in quality and entertainment is notable at the least. Actually, if we're counting Fringe, it might beat out OUaT for me, but they're close. I prefer OUaT's fantasy (especially literary) leaning to Fringe's sci-fi leaning, and I prefer OUaT's habit of always having an ultimate-goal in mind (something that Fringe has never totally had until this season; Season 3 is debatable, but they certainly didn't have an obvious set end goal in 1, 2, or 4), but overall, the writing and acting is a bit tighter with Fringe. So both series have things that I prefer over the other, putting them fairly close together for me. Still below the excellently written and executed POI though.
As for the remainder, Flashforward > V > Revolution > Alcatraz (though I anticipate Revolution improving and moving up the ranks in the future). Haven't seen the others.
And it's equally amazing how he is able to differentiate the two characters so much. You wouldn't think that you could pitch "powerful guy with a secret" to the same guy twice and have him turn out two completely different performances, both amazing.
Voted for PoI. Emerson was the main reason I started watching in the first place, but I found it has many other merits (just wish they'd focus more on the overarching storylines and less on the CBS-style procedural cases).OUaT is good too.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Wheres Ian somerhalder (tvd) for Boone Carlyle?
ReplyDeleteI only watch OUAT so this is an easy one for me!
ReplyDeleteRINGER!! I need more season!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a list of disappointing shows. I am going to vote for Justified instead as it has had Jeremy Davies (Faraday), Brad William Henke (Bram), Raymond J Barry (played Jack's granddad and in S4 Sam Anderson (Bernard) all guest star or reoccur.
ReplyDeleteMy vote would be for TVD, but since it isn't on there I chose OUaT
ReplyDeleteMichael Emerson is absolutely magnificent !!!! Person of Interest !!!
ReplyDeleteScandal, with OUAT in a close second :-)
ReplyDeleteYou should give POI another chance. ;)
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest. Emerson kills it every time. I'm hoping Ken Leung gets a more recurring role, too. I love his character.

In order of preference: 01. Scandal 02. Once Upon a Time 03. Person of Interest 04. Revolution

ReplyDeleteOnce Upon A Time and Person Of Interest!

ReplyDeletePerson of Interest. Emerson is simply fabulous playing Harold, just like when he played Linus in Lost.
ReplyDeleteReally! I too hope they make Ken Leung a regular,he is fabulous in this role!
ReplyDeleteThey both are family conspiracies in relation to special branch of law enforcement (Like Sydney, Steve finds out his mom is "alive" and is involved in a special group because 'a loved one' was murdered) But Hawaii Five-0 tries harder to be procedural and mainly takes place on the Island (where Sydney and gang globe trot in every episode) Terry O Quinn uniquely is in a similar role as his Alias agent Kendal (sp?), but also a juxtaposition to John Locke/Man in BLACK with the name and authoritative status, Joe WHITE.

ReplyDeleteMe three!
ReplyDeleteI vote all bc they have Lost peeps in them xD
ReplyDeleteNone of them. Lost was a piece of sh*t.
ReplyDeleteEasily it's Person of Interest...
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest big time.
ReplyDeleteAll the fuck we give:
ReplyDeleteMeeow!
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest tied with Once Upon A Time
ReplyDeleteYay for OUaT being number one! And while I don't watch POI, I get why it's second: the promos that I see while watching my CBS shows (of which there are a lot) look great. There's just something about it that didn't interest me.
ReplyDeleteTVD is not on the list because it's not a POST-LOST show since it started when LOST was still on the air... jeez!
ReplyDeleteMy vote goes to Revolution, and I hope I'll find the time to watch PoI because I've heard great things about it.
OUAT for me :) Although I do love Fringe, and I enjoy(ed) Alcatraz and 666.
ReplyDeleteI still need to start PoI though!
I voted for Scandal because it's the only show from that list I watch. But actually Henry Ian Cusick who was a part of that show left after first season and I still miss him, I really liked his character.
ReplyDeleteI couldn´t agree more. I love Lost and I love a lot of the actors, but I´m not a fan of any of the shows listed above.
ReplyDeleteMy vote would also goes to Justified. M. C. Gainey (Tom Friendly)and William Mapother (Ethan) was also on both Lost and Justified.
I would have voted Justified too for Jeremy Davies (Faraday) as Dickie Bennet and let's not forget Brad William Henke (he played Bram on Lost in Season 5/6) as his brother Coover Bennett too!
ReplyDeleteAlso in Season 1 we had MC Gainey (Tom Friendly) as Bo Crowder, in Season 3 of Justified we had William Mapother (Ethan) as Delroy the pimp, I think I'm forgetting one LOSTie too honestly......
OUAT and POI are both a lot of fun. Wish I could vote for both.
ReplyDeleteCan't bring myself to vote for any of them I'm afraid. Would have voted for Justified if it had been on the list though.
ReplyDeletePerson Of Interest
ReplyDeleteOnce Upon a Time! :D
ReplyDeleteKen Leung is great! You just know that character was written for him (even if it wasn't). Only he could play such a resourceful pain in the ass type character. :p
ReplyDeleteThe cast was definitely not. Three Emmy winners (two of them for their parts on the show itself), four others nominated...
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest, all the way! Both Emerson and Chapman were on Lost and we have seen several 'persons' of interest from that show as well on PoI. Best show on TV!
ReplyDeleteWell, chop chop!!
ReplyDeleteI picked shows the premiered AFTER Lost's finale, and had shared regular cast members between the two.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the clarification! :P
ReplyDeleteOnce Upon a Time!
ReplyDeleteWell the only show i watch at the moment is Hawaii (surprised Ringer is even on this list lol) but I would have voted Vampire Diaries! Though I never watched lost.. I would watch it for Ian Somerhalder!
ReplyDeleteWell said ! I couldn't have said it better !
ReplyDeleteMy vote goes for H50 , even I don't really like Daniel Dae Kim on the show, I prefered him on Lost !
ReplyDeleteTerry is great and I hope we'll see him again on H50
The others shows are great , but no one has H50 level IMO :)
He is AWESIME, exactly.
ReplyDeleteYay..
ReplyDeletePOI is indeed Best show, from my poin of view and I love it.
ReplyDeletePOI all the way.
ReplyDeleteFringe wasn't mentioned on the list either and not only is from Bad Robot, but we have guests like Rebecca Mader, Henry Ian Cusick, and Eric Lange!
ReplyDeleteAnd Zuleikha Robinson was on Homeland this past season...
Easily Person of Interest. Once Upon a Time is next, though the disparity between the two shows in quality and entertainment is notable at the least. ReplyDeleteIndeed! He is truly a remarkable actor, and he plays this character with grace. :)
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest is really great!
ReplyDeleteVoted for PoI. Emerson was the main reason I started watching in the first place, but I found it has many other merits (just wish they'd focus more on the overarching storylines and less on the CBS-style procedural cases).OUaT is good too.
ReplyDeleteI vote for Person of Interest. Two Men can win a war of their own... Finch & Reese for the Win!!!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy 666 actually...
