I think the only witches I've actually seen on TV were Regina from Once Upon A Time and Mirri Maz Duur from Game Of Thrones. That's an easy choice! Regina gets all the (corny :p) kick-ass lines on that show!
I'm not a fan of Shannen Doherty by a long way, but I find this comment a little mean and not true, I wouldn't say she was ugly in the show at all. Though from some more recent photos of her I'd have to admit it looks like she doesn't want to grow old gracefully and some of her surgery (thou I believe she denies that she's had any) has made her look a lil odd.
Cassie Blake, Diana Meade, Faye Chamberlain and Melissa Glaser! Not only awesome witches but the characters who were the heart and soul of The Secret Circle.
Willow. I could never understand how people could watch Charmed. It was absolutely abysmal. It was on a writing par with Sabrina the Teenage Witch lol.
Others I would have picked include Faye Chamberlain (Secret Circle), Sabrina Spellman (Sabrina, The Teenage Witch) and Esther Mikaelson (Vampire Diaries).
Charmed was Aaron Spelling's attempt to update his successful "Jiggle TV" formula from Charlie's Angels. Both spent less time on plot and more time on showing the actresses "outfits" off....
Ha! Too true..... It's a hard lesson to learn since SpoilerTV is like comfort food to many of us and we crave it when cozied up under layers of blankets dealing with whatever ails us.... It's chicken soup for the mind.
Probably Willow from BTVS, although I did like Cassie on Hex a lot before the series went downhill with Ella. For comedic roles Sabrina gets the top spot from me!
Hmmm... I always did like Katie McGrath as Morgana a lot too.
I had assumed that it was meant to be giggled at! :o I'm the first to admit my mate and I can be a bit bitchy while watching shows like this, but I had assumed that was how people saw the show when it was on and that was the attraction to it. You learn something new every day I guess...even if you're 10 years late to the party as I am in this case, lol.
Yay, another show we have in common! I'm on S3 at the moment (on my first ever watch of the show) and I'm loving it. Thou from comments here, it's perhaps not meant to be as cheesy as I think it is at times?
Piper from Charmed(I liked Prue too.Never cared much for Paige.Only liked Phoebe season five on).Sabrina from Sabrina Teenage Witch.Faye from Secret Circle.Regina from Once.
Actually Prue or Paige were less attractive than Piper. There was no competition for Phoebe, but Holly Marie Combs is beautiful and probably better looking than you, little troll.
Oh that's not true. They knew their niche in the tv climate as a wacky less serious 90s female driven "drama", even if they did oversell the sex part of it. :P
No, I watched it as a kid and I am pretty sure that it wasn't supposed to be taken as a serious drama. Even though I personally enjoyed the show for years, and thought it was hilarious (and yes I mean on purpose...Piper was a treat all her own in that show)
The show was on the WB and had a small budget and premiered in 98... so yeah it has the "WB Family drama" infused with the snarky 90s/early 2000s mentality that is obviously an occasional bout of primetime soap opera, but I thought it was a fun show. There are a couple places in the show (the end of s3 and some of s4) where we got some good drama though that I thought was pretty great and still lives on as some of my favorite moments.
It started off as fairly serious drama and meant to be taken seriously originally... It was not designed as a farce or a spoof, a satire or even to be tongue in cheek, but evolved into poking fun at itself.
Ha, I forgot you had a thing for Ryan's eyes XD I don't think I've seen her in anything since that Easter Doctor Who episode a few years back, what has she been up to recently?! *checks imdb* Not heard of any of those films/shows, shame as I quite like her as an actress...Bionic Woman withstanding :p lol
We're about halfway through season 3 atm, but I haven't seen an episode for a week now as my friend is away with her relatives for the holidays so I'm missing it quite a bit! We tend to alternate between heavier drama series like Shield or Oz, then a fluffier show like Charmed in turn. We tried Relic Hunter and Witchblade this year but I just couldn't get on with them like I have with this. I think they both tried to be too serious, where as Charmed is definitely more relaxed imo, and has better actors/characters, lol.
I had no idea my enjoyment of her eyes (or ice blue eyes in general) was common knowledge! XD
Ya, after Merlin I have not seen her in any recurring roles at all.
Oh well, there are a lot of good/ great actresses out there I enjoy for their talent and I think in the end I appreciate them more honestly, but..... I will always have a soft spot for piercing pale blue eyes.
I think the blue eye thing came up last year in one of the merlin posts, I seem to remember wittering on about Percival's guns around the same time, lol.
I was thinking of that (a sleeves suit of chainmail) as I watched the final episodes the other day! Entirely possible I did bring up Minueh's/ Ryan's eyes for Merlin at some point. *Nods*
I've met Tom a few times this year, even had a lil cuddle in those massive arms of his ;) He's one huge chap, so I can see why he asked to have sleeveless chainmail for the role to show them off, even thou I'm sure in reality they would have been pretty badly scarred by the end of the show XD
I had to go with Tara the good witch, though Willow was a close second. I just feel like she was a solid example of what NOT to do haha... but I enjoyed her character more, I suppose.
When I looked at the poll I immediately knew that Willow would be on top, but Bonnie taking second place? That's so wrong. I really love TVD and Bonnie as well but when you do Prue vs Bonnie, Bonnie would simply chant when Prue would flick her across the wall and use her astral projection to push Bonnie from behind. Willow a powerful witch, I don't know since i don't watch Buffy, but I believe it watching from some shorts. Especially Dark Willow. Cassie Blake gets honorable mention here, because her dark powers were very unpredictable and when in danger she could do some great force. Too bad we didn't see much of her to really question it. So i voted for Prue. But I was happy to see at least a Charmed One high in the rankings..
I meant that, I laughed at Sabrina because it was intentionally funny.
I laughed at Charmed because of the awful dialogue, the ridiculous plots, the daytime soap-opera melodrama, the acting (though, generally the main cast were good actors... it was the guest actors/demons of the week that were pretty atrocious).
(Early-seasons) Willow, followed closely by Prue. You know, as sad as I was that Prue died, I'm retroactively glad about it because it saved her character from the ridiculous cartoon that Charmed became in its last few seasons. At least this way she'll always be remembered as the awesome alpha witch she was, rather than someone who always whines about how magic interferes with raising her kids or screwing the love interest of the week,
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
easy Amy, Willow & Tara
ReplyDelete1) Willow
ReplyDelete2) Prue
3) Piper
Always Prue, I still hate that she died.
ReplyDeletePiper, I miss Charmed so much :(
ReplyDeletePiper, wish Charmed was still on the air!!
ReplyDeleteWillow and Tara, I miss them still.
ReplyDeletePiper Halliwell. Once and for all. Snarkiest and favorite witch ever...with the coolest powers too!
ReplyDeletePiper. I've only just started watching Charmed with a mate, it's great fluffy fun! :)
ReplyDeletepiper? O_O
ReplyDeleteI think the only witches I've actually seen on TV were Regina from Once Upon A Time and Mirri Maz Duur from Game Of Thrones. That's an easy choice! Regina gets all the (corny :p) kick-ass lines on that show!
ReplyDeleteWillow.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot ugliest. At least amongst the charmed ones.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of Shannen Doherty by a long way, but I find this comment a little mean and not true, I wouldn't say she was ugly in the show at all. Though from some more recent photos of her I'd have to admit it looks like she doesn't want to grow old gracefully and some of her surgery (thou I believe she denies that she's had any) has made her look a lil odd.
ReplyDeleteYou left out Other- For me its Regina, hands down!
ReplyDeleteWillow.
ReplyDeleteWith Grace from the UK series "Switch" following that.
Shannen Doherty played Prue.
ReplyDeleteHolly Marie Combs played Piper.
Cassie Blake, Diana Meade, Faye Chamberlain and Melissa Glaser! Not only awesome witches but the characters who were the heart and soul of The Secret Circle.

ReplyDeleteWoohooo! Piper won!
ReplyDeleteDoh! That'll teach me for posting while sick, lol.
ReplyDelete1. Phoebe
ReplyDelete2. Sabrina
3. Hilda and Zelda
I don't see Piper as the winner here. She was great and all, but a bit boring at times as well ;)
Still Piper;)
ReplyDeletePiper Halliwell from Charmed.
ReplyDeleteOthers I would have picked include Faye Chamberlain (Secret Circle), Sabrina Spellman (Sabrina, The Teenage Witch) and Esther Mikaelson (Vampire Diaries).
Ha!
ReplyDeleteI agree completely.
Charmed was Aaron Spelling's attempt to update his successful "Jiggle TV" formula from Charlie's Angels. Both spent less time on plot and more time on showing the actresses "outfits" off....

ReplyDeleteI prefer Nimueh from Merlin, but that be down to the fact that she only had one season and therefore didn't get all the dud scripts that Katie got :(
ReplyDeleteYay, another show we have in common! I'm on S3 at the moment (on my first ever watch of the show) and I'm loving it. Thou from comments here, it's perhaps not meant to be as cheesy as I think it is at times?
ReplyDeletePiper from Charmed(I liked Prue too.Never cared much for Paige.Only liked Phoebe season five on).Sabrina from Sabrina Teenage Witch.Faye from Secret Circle.Regina from Once.
ReplyDeleteTrue.... and.... her eyes!! XD
ReplyDeleteMichelle Ryan has the most amazing eyes.
I was sad when Bionic Woman went off the air because Ryan was one of the very, very few actresses I would watch even on a bad show.
I think she needs a new series!
Bonnie from TVD :)
ReplyDeleteActually Prue or Paige were less attractive than Piper. There was no competition for Phoebe, but Holly Marie Combs is beautiful and probably better looking than you, little troll.
ReplyDeleteOh that's not true. They knew their niche in the tv climate as a wacky less serious 90s female driven "drama", even if they did oversell the sex part of it. :P

ReplyDeleteWillow no question
ReplyDeleteIt started off as fairly serious drama and meant to be taken seriously originally...
ReplyDeleteIt was not designed as a farce or a spoof, a satire or even to be tongue in cheek, but evolved into poking fun at itself.
Of all Willow was the most scary of all witches! Piper is a close second though.
ReplyDeleteHa, I forgot you had a thing for Ryan's eyes XD I don't think I've seen her in anything since that Easter Doctor Who episode a few years back, what has she been up to recently?! *checks imdb* Not heard of any of those films/shows, shame as I quite like her as an actress...Bionic Woman withstanding :p lol

ReplyDeleteWillow is (just) ahead atm :o
ReplyDeleteI had no idea my enjoyment of her eyes (or ice blue eyes in general) was common knowledge! XD
ReplyDeleteYa, after Merlin I have not seen her in any recurring roles at all.
Oh well, there are a lot of good/ great actresses out there I enjoy for their talent and I think in the end I appreciate them more honestly, but..... I will always have a soft spot for piercing pale blue eyes.
Still Phoebe.
ReplyDeleteI had to go with the classic: Samantha
ReplyDeleteI think the blue eye thing came up last year in one of the merlin posts, I seem to remember wittering on about Percival's guns around the same time, lol.
ReplyDeleteHa!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of that (a sleeves suit of chainmail) as I watched the final episodes the other day! Entirely possible I did bring up Minueh's/ Ryan's eyes for Merlin at some point. *Nods*

ReplyDeletePhoebe from Charmed.
ReplyDeleteI had to go with Tara the good witch, though Willow was a close second. I just feel like she was a solid example of what NOT to do haha... but I enjoyed her character more, I suppose.
ReplyDeletePiper from charmed as she was a magical witch but she also seemed so down to earth and she actually had a pretty stable love life after a fashion!
ReplyDeleteYessss! I voted for Faye! Still missing TSC :(
ReplyDeleteWhen I looked at the poll I immediately knew that Willow would be on top, but Bonnie taking second place? That's so wrong. I really love TVD and Bonnie as well but when you do Prue vs Bonnie, Bonnie would simply chant when Prue would flick her across the wall and use her astral projection to push Bonnie from behind. Yay, that's great;) Also, it looks like you're in my (probably) favorite moment of the show: season 3 till first half of season 4. Enjoy watching!
ReplyDeleteOk yeah I agree with that. I liked the 3 main actresses, but even as a kid I'd laugh at the guest actor demons, etc. XD
ReplyDeleteI can't be mad at that because I never watched Buffy before so she might be good. But Piper is undoubtedly the coolest most amazing witch in my book.
ReplyDeleteYou are trolling right trololo?
ReplyDelete(Early-seasons) Willow, followed closely by Prue.

Paige from Charmed :)
