TVLINE | Damon did break the sire bond, sort of, but it was a little too late where Stefan’s concerned. What does that mean for their relationship?
That’s unfortunate. Damon was a little bit late in his realization that he was being selfish and needed to do the right thing by Stefan. The jig is up as far as Stefan’s awareness of what Elena and Damon have been up to. It’s not going to be pretty. Stefan is heartbroken. He feels incredibly betrayed and angry. We’re going to see a lot of his point of view as we move forward.
TVLINE | From the promos, it looks like Stefan also lashes out at Elena.
Yeah. He’s pissed. [Laughs] When the break-up is civil, it’s usually the beginning of some pretty dark stuff still to come. The calmer the break-up, the worse the fallout.
TVLINE | Tyler’s grown a lot this season. Will recent events help him mature further or set him back?
It’s a setback in that his confidence came from this feeling that he had a place and he had people that were looking to him. As his mom said, “You’re a leader of people like your father was.” He was really growing into that, and to feel like they all paid the price for that confidence will definitely set him back a bit. The question is, how will he rebound from that?
TVLINE | Are Caroline and Tyler OK?
Tyler’s going to struggle, and Caroline’s going to struggle in trying to help him. But if there’s one thing those two have proven again and again, it’s that when situations are at their most dire and their most extreme, they find a way to be there for each other. I think we can rest easy that that won’t have changed yet.

- An angry Stefan is an interesting Stefan so I'm all for more of that.
ReplyDelete- Stefan taking out his frustration on Elena should make most Delena fans happy. It will likely force Elena to continually defend her feelings and her relationship with Damon and strengthen her resolve to be with him.
- A Jeremy / Damon subplot is a great idea. I hope Klaus doesn't screw it up too badly.
- I don't see Tyler being in a very good place, emotionally speaking, for the rest of the season.
- The idea of redeeming Klaus is ridiculous. However, the idea of Klaus trying to redeem himself is okay as long as he fails in his attempt. Any other outcome would be an eye-roll.
- I don't really care about Shane's "journey." I just want Bonnie to get a clue. Soon.
- If TVD turns perky, dorky April into a troublemaker, her character will get annoying quickly.
- I can't wait to see how Rebekah will make everyone miserable. I'm a little annoyed that there's no mention of Matt in relation to Bekah's return. Matt can get a little boring when Bekah is not around to light a fire under him.
I'm sick of them saying Damon is selfish. I don't think he has been selfish for quite a while, sure he can be at times (aren't we all) but in the end he does what he thinks is best for the people he loves. Stop picking on him :p
ReplyDeleteIn this particular case it's a real stretch to call Damon selfish. All he did was delay what he told Stefan he'd do by about 24 hours or so. He struggled with his decision for an extra day then he did the right thing. It's really no big deal.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to do with Vampire Diaries what I did with the Supernatural marketing. Just not look... The discussion of Damon, Stefan, Elena, Klaus....just about made me decide I don't really need to watch this show anymore. I've never been a fan of this primary love story (give me Caroline and Tyler) The desire to keep Klaus on the canvas keeps coming with fantastic saves....I agree with Bruce_f...not interested in redeeming the character, but watching him *try* to redeem himself might be interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhat I am interested in watching is Tyler, glad Rebekah is back. she was just getting to be really really fun and they stuck her in a coffin. , Jeremy and Damon in scenes together is fun. Matt has been more interesting this season as well. Bonnie is back in the too stupid for words camp. sigh.
Hopefully I can get through the end of the season and be happy.
No matter, when Damon released Elena from the bond (if it worked), it was too late. Damon and Elena slept with each other before he even knew she was sired to him. So,
ReplyDeleteeven if he would have released her the moment Stefan told him, it would be too late.
I get that Stefan is not happy about Elena and Damon, but why is he taking it out on them? Correct me, if I'm wrong, but HE broke up with HER, because he knew that she
loved Damon. Is it so surprising that they ended up in bed? Especially after Stefan left the house, after Elena moved in. I mean, he knew what they feel for each other and that they have the house for themselves. Is it really so surprising? What is he, 10?
I'm sorry for Tyler. Wolves are pack animals and he probably felt closer to the hybrids
than Caroline or his mom. Being without his pack will be a hard time for him. Not talking about finding out about his mom.
I can't remember how many times I said it, but here it comes again: They CAN'T compare
Damon to Klaus. Damon couldn't be compared to Klaus not even at his worst. And the
biggest difference is, that Damon HAD changed. He has people he cares about, he loves, he sees as friends. Klaus never had that and never will. And it's his own fault. Acting like he does he can't be surprised not even his own family likes him. And I don't understand people finding excuses for him, like "Oh, his father never liked him" or "Poor thing, everyone triesto kill him" And Damon proved his good side and his good intentions by
risking his life for others. And Klaus? He draws a few paintings, makes Caroline a few compliments and everyone believes he is a good guy? Till that psycho goes and kills an innocent woman. For what? Cause he couldn't find her son.
Maybe they shouldn't talk as much about Klaus character than they should talk about
getting rid of Klaus. If they won't, I really don't know how much longer I willwatch the show. Guess I'm not alone with that. Seriously. It's the same pattern since S2. Klaus kills someone, threatens someone, the gang is making plans of getting rid of him, and the plan fails, then they talk about how killing Klaus will kill them all, and they are making other plans that fail again, … Who is writing those scripts? Preschoolers?
If Jeremy is getting back with Bonnie, it will have better chances than a romance with
April. His girls die soon.
Damon and Jeremy training? That'll be fun. Jeremy hates him. Combine that to his hunter
urges, …
We all are selfish form time to time. Not even Stefan the saint can't say he is completely selfless.
ReplyDeletePicking on him? Well, many people like to see him as a bad guy. And he wasn't since S1, for Christ sake. Why is everyone forgetting Klaus?
Of course it's no big deal. And I can't understand people calling Damon selfish either. He wasn't selfish in a very long time. And they blame him for the Stefan and Elena break up. Not fair. Stefan broke up with her. And Stefan wasn't exactly the best boyfriend in S3, so he can't be surprised Elena got closer to his brother. And Stefan can't blame her or his brother, if he doesn't have the balls to
ReplyDeletefight for the girl he claims to love so much.
I liked ripper Stefan better. Just felt sorry for his victims.
ReplyDeleteYou know what? I never considered that Stefan letting his frustration and anger out on Elena could be good for Delena (and I am team Delena. Since the books, baby).
Damon and Jeremy training will be so much fun. Jeremy never liked Damon. And wait till he finds out he is fucking his sister. Add Jers urge to kill vampires …
"The idea of redeeming Klaus is ridiculous" love you for that. I hoped I wouldn't be alone on that front. I say there is nothing good in him. Some people believe there is. Not a chance! "The idea of Klaus trying to redeem himself is okay as long as he fails in his attempt" Can't agree on that. Sorry. Cause it's a pattern. A repeating pattern (he tries and fails, and tries and fails again). It's being my problem since the beginning of S3. Patterns are repeating themselves. Like in S3. They wanted to kill Klaus, they planned and failed, tried with another plan and failed again, … Thru the entire S3. And the pattern is continuing even in S4. It's getting boring. I don't know how long I can stand it. They have to get rid of Klaus.
Yeah, Becca is another annoying point. Maybe she does have some kind of stockholm with her brother. Cause I can't understand that after 1000 years she still goes back to him, is ready to trust him. For now it looks like she is pissed at him and want's revenge. How long? Two eps? Three? I think, she could be a great
character. I wish, she would finally let it all go and make a life for herself. It's about time after 1000 years.
Know what? I loved the show when it started. Still like it. The question is: how long will
ReplyDeletethis last?
Klaus is a great character and Joseph is brilliant, don't get me wrong. But this whole story with Klaus and the originals is getting boring and annoying. Of 3 ½ season we
already spend 2 on Klaus. Story is evolving too slow, patterns are repeating over and over again (like the "Kill Klaus" I discussed with Bruce), and sometimes I think the scripts are written by amateurs.
Seriously, the show has lost on quality since S1 and S2.
A sanctimonious Stefan is an insufferable Stefan. :)
ReplyDeleteIf anyone has been selfish and unreasonable, it has been Stefan.
ReplyDeleteStefan? Unreasonable, maybe. But selfish?
ReplyDeleteHere's the thing. I (due to personal preference) don't care why Stefan is pissed off. If he's sanctimonious, so be it. Whatever the reason, watching the character in this state of mind is infinitely more entertaining to me than pious, Dudley Do-Right, bunny diet Stefan.
ReplyDelete"Can't agree on that. Sorry. Cause it's a pattern. A repeating pattern (he tries and fails, and tries and fails again). It's being my problem since the beginning of S3. Patterns are repeating themselves."
ReplyDeleteI maintain that there is no repeating pattern of attempted redemption by Klaus. It has never been attempted. TVD has tried to soften Klaus up and make him more likeable (which a lot of fans mistake for redemption) to give him more character depth but actual, genuine redemption has yet to be attempted.
Klaus has never admitted mistakes or wrongdoing, he's never attempted to make amends to any people he's hurt, and he's never attempted to change his ways after any sort of moral epiphany. Every single action Klaus takes, everything that motivates him, every goal he sets for himself is almost entirely for selfish reasons.
Klaus has never proven that he's capable of doing anything good unless there is some benefit for himself. Even when he cured Caroline from Tyler's bite it wasn't because Klaus thought what he did was wrong or that he was overcome with regret. It was because he had a romantic interest in Caroline.
There's no redemption going on here. It's just a superficial attempt by TVD to make Klaus seem more likable.
There were several situations where it seems like Klaus could "soften up". When he was with Caroline, mostly. Some fans may hope he could change (the first time with Caroline and after his mommy returned, I hoped that too). But then he returns to his old self and kills innocent people for fun. Or, because he feels bored. The same situation came up 3 or 4 times. He gets close to Caroline (or maybe his siblings), opens up and tries to show some sense of humanity. Then he goes on a killing spree again. I call that a repeating pattern.
ReplyDeleteYes. They want to make Klaus more likable. They try to keep him just to keep him. They are forcing him to stay on the show and are making up stories he fits in. That will ruin the show. You probably too noticed how the quality of the show decreased since S2. Don't get me wrong. I love the show. But it's running in circles and the story is not evolving.
That is exactly what I'm saying. Klaus never takes responsibility for his actions. And he never apologies. He has no moral values. That is why I can't understand people comparing him to Damon. Even in S1 Damon took responsibility. Not always, but sometimes. And he apologized to Jer for Vicky. Klaus has nothing good inside him. Damon has proven his good side several times by risking his life for others.
And here we are again at the point where they want to keep Klaus just to keep him. At all cause, no matter if it ruins the show. Hey, here is a thought: How about a spin off? Klaus own show. 1000 years of torturing and killing innocent people. That is the solution. If they like Klaus so much, they can keep him and give him a own show. And TVD can finally go on with the story.
I don't think Plec and company will be motivated to make any major changes in the cast or story unless the ratings take a dive and the ratings have been very stable over the last year or so.
